Pardon Us!

Cessna 172 lands in couple's garden
ASHFORD, England (UPI) -- Two men were hospitalized for minor injuries in Ashford, England, after the plane they were in made an emergency landing in a retired couple's backyard.

The Cessna 172 crashed in Eileen and Alfred Watling's garden after taking off from Rochester Airport Saturday.

The pilot and passenger escaped with only minor injuries, The Mail on Sunday reported.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch was investigating the cause of the crash.

Eileen Watling, 71, who lives at the house with her 83-year-old husband, said: "It was so sudden. We'd just started watching a film when there was an almighty crash. We thought the house had collapsed.

"I looked out of the window and saw the conifers had come down and there were no electricity lines. Then I saw the plane."

Special Day, Today!

Today is my son Patrick’s birthday :) He is all of 41 today! And, I actually remembered to send him a message wishing him Happy Birthday. I always think of his birthday, before and after, the day but rarely on the day! Must be my old brain malfunctioning LOL

Like all of my stepsons, Patrick lives far away from the desert, preferring places that are very wet and very green. He has a wonderful job and makes a good living so I can’t complain about his location :)

The rain has stopped here, finally, and it appears to be very sunny today. Headed for warm by the middle of the week and I can’t complain about that either! I like warm, not wet and cold :)

Other than that, it is peaceful today. I slept almost twelve hours last night, and I feel lethargic this morning. Not sure why that is. I hope I am not getting sick again. Maybe I’ll feel better after I eat some breakfast. So, on that note, I leave this blog to go pester the cook :)

Ordered Randomness

I have no idea what that title means, it just popped into my feeble mind and I liked it so I used it :)

The weather is back to serious rain. Not too serious for my neighbors though. Last night while it was coming down in buckets, the idiots went outside and set off a bunch of whistling rockets! My poor dog not only had to be scared of all the noise from the rain and the wind but then them stupid fireworks! GRR!

Managed to get up this morning in time to watch some of the PBA bowling show. That was a tough oil pattern in the end game because neither pro bowled all that well. Nice to see Norm Duke win though. He was so happy he shed tears!

Lazy day around here. Just puttering around on the computer, reading my mail and some blogs :) The lovely wife is cantankerous because she didn’t get to sleep until 3 a.m. or so and now is very sleepy! Poor baby :(

Have a great day, folks :) Remember, it’s back to work for most of you tomorrow!

Too Much Like Work

Have spent the past couple of days working on my other blogs, trying to get them in some sort of order, at least as far as the ads go :)
It simply is too much like work LOL
I think I have them in better shape now, which is good. I am tired of looking at javascript codes! I do not like javascript, I prefer HTML which is so much simpler to comprehend :)

Thursday already?

What a fast week this has been! It's Thursday already. Another bowling day! Hooray!
I just hope it is a better bowling day than last week when I struggled with both my command of the ball and my approach. Grr. Being in a slump is maddening! I need to just relax and stop thinking so hard and just bowl! My average is down to 159 :(
Oh well, I have six games to bowl today, I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Another Rainy Day

It's still Winter. UGH! I am not a winter person. Never have been, never will be. I like Summer :)
But, it's rainy here, and cloudy and cold. Not good weather for me, but I am sure I will survive.
The weather makes me very lethargic, I don't really want to do anything, not even surf the net. Now, that's lethargic LOL
Maybe I will give everything a rest, as typing hurts my joints on wet days, and go vegetate in front of the television and think. Actually allow my brain cells to be used! I have some ideas sitting on the back burner of my brain, ideas pertaining to blogging, and nothing makes my mind wander faster than television, so I should be able to think some things through :)

Does Size Matter?

Which is better, a brief blog post where the writer makes his point right away so that you can move on to other things or a long-winded post that beats around the bush and finally makes a point?

I ask because while looking at one of those advertising sites where you are to write product reviews, they want your blog to be filled with posts of 200 words or more. Now, that seems like a lot of words for every single post that one writes!

So, I am just wondering, does size matter to you, fellow bloggers?

A Penny Saved...

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A penny saved is not necessarily just a penny earned: One man’s collection of rare American cents has turned into a $10.7 million auction windfall.

The collection of 301 cents featured some of the rarest and earliest examples of the American penny, including a cent that was minted for two weeks in 1793 but was abandoned because Congress thought Lady Liberty looked frightened.

That coin and a 1794 cent with tiny stars added to prevent counterfeiters each raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to the Dallas-based auction house Heritage Auction Galleries, which held the sale in Long Beach on Friday night.

Heritage Auction president Greg Rohan said the auction was the biggest ever for a penny collection, with hundreds of bidders vying for the coins. Presale estimates valued the collection at about $7 million.

“It was a fabulous night,” Rohan said. “Every major coin collector of American cents was either there in person, bidding online or on the telephone.”

The coins came from the collection of Burbank resident Walter J. Husak, the owner of an aerospace-part manufacturing company. Husak became interested in collecting at age 13, while visiting his grandparents who paid him in old coins for helping with chores.

There were 168 successful bidders, and the auction gallery got 15 percent of the total.

I'm excited!

On one of my other blogs, http://www.fwidman.blogono.com I wrote a piece the other day about cell phones and how easily lost they can get and a solution to this problem.
Imagine my surprise today to discover that one of my visitors had come from the Wall Street Journal. Of course, being a curious sort, I had to click that link. I was taken to a page on the WSJ and a column about cell phones. There, at the end of the column was a list of two related blogs, and mine was one of them!
Shucks, I was so happy I even took a screenshot to save for posterity LOL You see, it just goes to show that you never know where your blog words ,may end up!

Lazy Sunday

Still feeling a bit under the weather, so, I plan on doing nothing all day except surfing the web and updating my blogs. I am sleepy as I write this, darned cold medicine!
I know I have blog things to do, like try to make more sense of how to make money, but today, I just don't care that much.
Happy Sunday to you!

Mind Boggling

LONDON (AP) - Workers responding to neighbors' complaints of a bad smell coming from an apartment in western England discovered a body that lay decomposing on a couch for years while another resident lived there, officials said Friday.

The British Broadcasting Corp. reported that neighbors of the Bristol, England apartment had been complaining for years about the stench and cleaning workers found the body. Neighbor Michael Stone told the BBC he assumed the tenant suffered from poor hygiene and even offered him air fresheners.

A spokesman for Bristol City Council said the body was thought to have been in the apartment for at least eight years.

The identity of the man, who was thought to be in his 70s when he died, has not been released.

Police arrested the apartment's tenant after the body was found Jan. 30, but concluded the death was not suspicious. The occupant, also in his 70s, apparently failed to report the death because he suffers from mental health problems.

Bristol Coroner's Court launched an urgent inquiry on Friday to determine how the corpse had gone unnoticed for so long.

A local lawmaker expressed disbelief at the find.

"How can any of us possibly understand how there could be a dead body in somebody's flat for five years, or maybe even as long as eight years, and nobody know and nobody notices, and life appears to go on as usual," Labour parliamentarian Dawn Primarolo told BBC television.

It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over

Super Tuesday has come and gone, with no clear winners. It does appear that Republican McCain is well on his way to being that party nominee. He carried California easily, probably due to the advertising blitz reminding voters here of Ronald Reagan. Nice touch!

On the Democratic side, it still appears to be a horse race, with both Obama and Clinton running neck and neck. This one should go down to the wire! I am pulling for Hilary! There is just something to perfect looking about Obama. He reminds me of a car salesman who is trying his damndest to sell me a lemon!

I hope you all took the time to vote and let your voice be heard :)

Done your duty yet?

It’s primary election day here in California, and a lot of the U.S. For once, the voters in California actually get to have some impact in the primaries, which is rather exciting. Normally, by the time we vote, things are pretty much already decided, whcih has always seemed like a shame.

I have not voted as I write this, but am planning to go to the polls as soon as the teenager is back from school. She always goes with us to the polls, which I think is important, it gives her the chance to see that, no matter what is going on in the world, voting is important. With Free Speech, we always have the right to moan and groan about who gets elected, but, if one doesn’t vote, why do they care who wins or loses?

So, in a couple of hours, the two voters in this household will go and cast their ballots. I will cast mine for Hilary Clinton, as I truly feel she is the best Democratic candidate. My lovely wife will cast her vote for whoever she likes in the Green Party. Then, we will both feel a sense of accomplishment, for whatever part we have played in the election outcome.

If you have not done so already, I urge you to go to your polling place and vote. Be you Democrat, Republican or Independent, exercise your right to choose.

What Do You Want From Your Readers?

Obviously, you'd like your readers to click on your sponsors, otherwise you'll make no money from your blog. But, that's not the important part.

You want your readers to read your words of wisdom and to comment. Unless you are tracking every visitor to your page, how else would you know that you are being read? Comments are the only true way to know. You know not only that they read your post, but they also cared enough about what they read to take time out of their precious day to respond. This is the most important part!

There is nothing about blogging that is more satisfying than to know what you wrote caused a person to respond back. Even a spammer. They didn't have to choose your blog to spam, but they did, and that says something.

I once knew a young lady who, when told that people were talking bad about her, said she didn't care. When asked why, she simply said, at least they are talking about me, so I must be on their mind. I think that's the right attitude to blogging as well. Even if the response is negative, at least they made a response, you were on their mind.

Of course, some blogs, like this one http://isntlifestrange.blogono.com/ require little or no comments. You read the funny story or look at the pictures and move on. Unless the reader just wants you to know they were there, comments are not needed. Although I am sure they are appreciated nonetheless :)

So, think about your blogging. What is it you want from those who take the time to actually read it?
