WKRP Rises Again!

CINCINNATI (AP) - WKRP is back on the air in Cincinnati - but this time it's for real.

A low-power TV station has changed its call letters to WKRP, the same as the fictional radio station in the 1970s hit series "WKRP in Cincinnati."

The station changed its call letters to promote its new digital TV signal. It formerly went by WBQC-TV.

General Manager Elliott Block says the new call letters give the station recognition because so many people remember the television sit-com.

So Much For Christmas Spirit!

NEW YORK – A Wal-Mart worker was killed Friday after an "out of control" throng of shoppers eager for post-Thanksgiving bargains broke down the doors at a suburban store and knocked him to the ground, police said.

At least four other people, including a woman eight months pregnant, were taken to hospitals for observation or minor injuries, and the store in Valley Stream on Long Island closed for several hours before reopening.

Nassau police said about 2,000 people were gathered outside the store doors at the mall about 20 miles east of Manhattan. The impatient crowd knocked the man to the ground as he opened the doors, leaving a metal portion of the frame crumpled like an accordion.

"This crowd was out of control," said Nassau police spokesman Lt. Michael Fleming. He described the scene as "utter chaos."

Dozens of store employees trying to fight their way out to help the man were also getting trampled by the crowd, Fleming said. Witnesses said that even as the worker lay on the ground, shoppers streamed into the store, stepping over him.

Kimberly Cribbs, who witnessed the stampede, said shoppers were acting like "savages."

"When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling 'I've been on line since yesterday morning,'" she said. "They kept shopping."

The 34-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m., police said. The exact cause of death has not been determined, and the man's name was not released.

A 28-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a hospital, where she and the baby were reported to be OK, said police Sgt. Anthony Repalone. At least three other people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.

Police said criminal charges were possible in the case, but Fleming said it would be difficult to identify individual shoppers. Authorities were reviewing surveillance video.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., based in Bentonville, Ark., called the incident a "tragic situation" and said the employee came from a temporary agency and was doing maintenance work at the store.

"The safety and security of our customers and associates is our top priority," said Dan Fogleman, a company spokesman. "At this point, facts are still being assembled and we are working closely with the Nassau County Police as they investigate what occurred."

Shoppers around the country line up early outside stores on the day after Thanksgiving in the annual bargain-hunting ritual known as Black Friday. It got that name because it has historically been the day when stores broke into profitability for the full year.

Accused drunk driver ends up running over himself

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A 21-year-old man was accused of driving drunk and leading police on a chase that finally ended with him running over himself. The man was treated for minor injuries at a Santa Fe hospital and booked in to the Sandoval County detention center on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, fleeing a police officer, careless driving and two other outstanding traffic warrants.

A tip to the state's DrunkBuster hot line Sunday afternoon alerted authorities to a possibly drunken driver.

State Police Officer Grace Romero spotted the man's pickup truck swerving across both lanes of a highway, driving slowly and then fast. He refused to stop.

After narrowly missing other vehicles, police said the suspect drove through a ditch and a barbed-wire fence before stopping. He tried to put the truck into park, but it ended up in reverse.

Police said the man fell from his open door and both of his legs were run over by the front driver's side
tire.

Man says cell phone saved him from stray bullet

COVINGTON, La. (AP) - R.J. Richard says he doesn't normally put his cell phone in his chest pocket. But he says it saved his life the one time he did.

The 68-year-old man from Covington, La., was mowing the lawn on his 5-acre property when a stray bullet from nearby woods struck that cell phone. He figured a rock kicked up by his tractor hit him. That is, until he took out the phone and a .45-caliber bullet fell from its case.

Richard told The Times-Picayune of New Orleans he doesn't think it was a coincidence, either.

"I look at this as God telling me to put my cell phone in that pocket, and I'm grateful and humbled," he said.

Doctors told Richard the bullet came at an angle, which along with the cell phone probably prevented serious injury.

Deputies are investigating the case, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain said. He said the case should serve as a serious warning that people should consider the consequences before firing a gun.

However, Strain said investigators don't believe the shooting was intentional.

What Is Fenphedra?

What is Fenphedra? Fenphedra is a CART activator and NPY inhibitor. CART, which stands for Cocaine-Amphetamine-Regulatory-Transcript is the chemical in your brain that signals your body that you are full thus losing your appetite. Lots of people are looking to lose some extra pounds these days. More so now because the holiday season is almost upon us. People tend to "pig out" during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and they don't need to gain more weight, they'd rather lose weight now and after the season is over too.

My Readers Are Strange

Sorry to say that, but it's true. This blog doesn't get that many hits, so it is easy to see what people are looking at on here. Most of my visitors, for some strange reason, come to the post a few months back where I posted a picture of some very sexy high heels that I had bought. Now, those are some great shoes, I admit, but why so many hits for that post and not the usual blog entry about what's going on with my life? I suppose the old adage is true. Sex sells!
Someone told me that, with my passion for high heels I should start a blog just for that, and I am sorely tempted to do so. But, for now, I shall just post a picture of a lovely woman in some sexy high heels for my readers to ogle and drool over :)
I hope you enjoy the picture! I hope too that you will leave a comment telling me how nice the picture is, or anything else that is on your mind at the moment :)

Never Burgle When Hungry

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - A prosecutor says greasy fingerprints led police in Virginia to a suspect with sticky fingers. Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Bethany Harrison said Lynchburg police matched prints on an orange juice bottle left at the scene of a breaking and entering to 33-year-old Bernard Wood.

He was sentenced Friday to six years in prison after being found guilty of three counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny.

Harrison said Wood stole appliances, jewelry and tools from several homes in June and raided his victims' refrigerators.

At one crime scene, police found the juice bottle and remnants of a chicken.

Harrison says police also recovered some of the 78 bags of popcorn also reported stolen when they went to Wood's home to arrest him.

Try Dieting!

Weight violation prompts elevator rescue
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (UPI) -- Seven people had to be rescued from a stalled elevator in New Bedford, Mass., City Hall after the vehicle's weight restriction was surpassed, an official says.

John Perry -- the New Bedford Department of Public Facilities superintendent of facilities, maintenance and construction -- said the elevator had an approximate weight capacity of 1,700 pounds, and the weight of 10 people was just too much for the elevator car to handle last week, Boston's WCVB-TV said.

Perry said riders packed into the elevator despite the weight limit warning and stalled the transport for two hours Thursday.

"Some people just don't want to listen to the elevator operator," Perry said.

Three of the trapped riders chose to leave the stalled elevator using a ladder but the remaining seven had to wait in the elevator car until rescuers could free them.

Perry told WCVB-TV that officials would be more stringent regarding the use of the elevator, which was manufactured in 1912 and is the nation's oldest continually operating elevator.

"We will be kicking people off from now on," the superintendent said.

I Am Home!

It was a long trip there and back, but well worth the train ride. The wedding and the reception were wonderful. It was so nice to see three of my four sons too. I had to laugh while looking at them all. They look so mature. I don't know how they all got so old while I stayed so young LOL
I also got to meet my daughter-in-laws parents, Jim and Dot, who were incredibly fun to hang out with while I was there. You can't get more down to earth than these two characters. Shucks, they even tried to get me into hot water with Shelly. Dot could not take that cell phone away fast enough so she could tell Shelly what I was doing. Jim was just as nice, explaining to Shelly that I was a real Casanova at the reception! What pals they turned out to be :)
I really missed my girls while I was away. This is the first time I have gone away from them and my cell phone bill showed just how much we all missed each other. Thank God Virgin Mobile didn't charge me any roaming charges, I'd be in debt up to my eyeballs LOL
I'm sure there is more to say, but I am still feeling a little out of it after the train ride so I will just leave you with a lovely picture of myself, my son Patrick and his bride Vickie.

Never Too Early

Post deleted by request :)

Feces confirmed in gelato

SYDNEY (UPI) -- An Australian hotel restaurant where a guest discovered feces in her gelato says its tests indicate the waste did not come from their gelato supply.

The New South Wales Food Authority announced Tuesday that the substance Jessica Whyte spit into her napkin while eating the dark chocolate gelato at the Coogee Bay Hotel in suburban Sydney tested positive for feces, the Sydney Daily Telegram reported Wednesday.

The authority said further tests will be conducted to determine whether the waste came from a human or an animal.

A spokeswoman for the hotel said the restaurant tested its tub of gelato and found no traces of feces, indicating it was added to the dessert during preparation or eating.

"The Coogee Bay Hotel has never disputed the substance the Whytes have held for three weeks could be fecal," the spokeswoman said. "The real question remains -- where did it come from?"

Whyte and her husband Stephen said they remain convinced the feces were planted in the dish by a Coogee Bay staff member.

The Whytes said they complained about the price of the food and the behavior of restaurant staff when they ate there early this month and were given the complimentary dessert.

General Manager Tony Williams said earlier he was "extremely suspicious" of the Whytes' claims.

Man allegedly helps renovate with 'hot' property

CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - A man may have won points with his girlfriend by offering to help renovate her home. Police weren't impressed, however. Authorities say the man stole some of the things he was using in the renovation
- including $10,000 worth of cabinets.

The 29-year-old man was booked with possession of stolen property.

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said he was helping renovate his girlfriend's home with items that had been reported stolen in at least three burglaries. The items included the cabinets removed from the walls of a home in Violet and carpet cut from the floors.

The sheriff's office said Thursday that the man could face additional counts of possession of stolen property.
