Just Get Moving

It's Spring, and many people are out of work and out looking for a new job in their chosen careers. If they are lucky, they'll find another job where they are, but many will be finding a new job in a new town or city and thinking about the hassles of moving. I have yet to meet anyone that actually likes the horrors of packing up all their stuff and moving to a new place to start over.
But, your moving experience does not have to be that horrid. There are moving services available that can ease the move, making things a lot less stressful for you, your spouse, your family.
ABF U-Pack is not your typical moving company. Here's how it works:
They bring an empty trailer or a Relocube(R) to your home. You then have three days to pack up all your stuff and load it. Then ABF drivers will drive the stuff to your new home and give you three days to unpack it and move in. And, you know just how much all of this will cost you beforehand, as ABF gives you a free quote before you start!
Another nice thing is that you are charged by space rather than weight. So, even though you might have less things to move but heavy items, it will cost you less to use ABF than a more traditional moving company that charges you by how many pounds they are moving.
So, if you are one of those that are looking to relocate, either because of a new job or simply because you need a change of scenery, look into the ABF U-Pack easy way of moving. You can click on the link above for your free quote or you can call them at 1-800-270-2154 Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central time.

It Goes Around

While I am starting to feel better (again) from this awful flu bug, the others in my house are getting worse :(
Last night was especially bad, with the two girls coughing and sneezing and hacking, sounding like cats trying to cough up a hairball, poor girls. While they didn't get much sleep, neither did I. I got up after dozing for about an hour or so and ended up staying up the rest of the night, going to bed after sun up and sleeping late into the morning. I think I was back up by noon but I wouldn't swear to it LOL
Tonight they both sound a little better and I am hopeful that sleep will be coming to all of us.
In the meantime here I sit at the computer listening to the Moody Blues from their Nights In White Satin days and enjoying myself. Hope all of you are healthy and enjoying your weekend as well :)

Times Are Tough

Seems like every day in the news the economic system we have is bleaker and bleaker. People everywhere are getting laid off or just outright losing their jobs. Many of these people, maybe even you, are looking for ways to make money, online and off.
Remember when you were a kid and you saw an ad in your favorite magazine or comic book telling you how you could make more money than you ever imagined just by selling cards or seeds or some other item to all your friends and relatives? Remember the disappointment when nobody you knew wanted this stuff? Well, times haven't changed in the sales marketing department. But, there is sales training available.
Here's something to bear in mind, for starters, if sales of some sort is what you have decided will help you through these tough times : "People don't like to be sold, but they love to buy". Now, at first glance, this may not make any sense to you but, if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. No one likes to be pressured into buying something, especially if they don't really need that item. But, people do love to buy things, especially if they think that they might need that item at some point and if they think they are getting a bargain. Everyone loves a great bargain, therefore, they love to buy!
Gitomer can help you find ways to make people love to buy your product. They offer a variety of sales related material to help you become a success. From sales training seminars to their sales ezine, you are sure to find the help you need with selling on this site. And, isn't success the name of the game when you are trying to make a living for yourself and your family? No one wants to fail!
So, check out this site and find the sales solutions you need, then go out into the world a confident salesperson and be a success!

Feeling Better

A little bit, day by day. This bug that has been going around this year is terrible. Seems like you get rid of it and WHAM! it comes back and hits you again. If all the phlegm doesn't drive you crazy, then the bug in the ear will.
My ears have been plugged up for days now, making it really hard to hear things and people, even people that are standing right next to me at times :(
But, that isn't the worst part. When the ear pops everything suddenly seems 200 percent louder than normal and that hurts. And, to make matters worse, my equilibrium is way off.
Now, I don't walk straight even when perfectly healthy, but being out of whack doesn't make it better. Especially when I go bowling, which I did last night.
Last week I went and only managed to bowl one game before I had to go home I felt so terrible. So last night, I got ribbed a little about leaving last week, with someone asking me if I planned on staying the night LOL The funniest thing was one of my teammates. He said he just turned around last week and I had disappeared. When he asked the team captain, Don told him that I had quit, saying I didn't want to bowl with them anymore! Now, I have been on this same team for about five or six years now, so that wouldn't happen, especially in the middle of a three game set almost at the end of the season.
My body hurts today, which to me actually seems like a good sign. It is normal, and having been sick with this bug for so damned long, I can use a little normalcy :)
Hope all of you are feeling fine and are not sick with this, or any other, bug :)

Artie Moreno

Okay, so if you haven't noticed, it's baseball season again. Sort of, it's actually Spring Training time. I'm sitting here at the computer listening to the Angels play the White Sox. The color man, Rex Hudler, mentioned early in the game that the Angels owner, Artie Moreno, was sitting in the bleachers right behind home plate enjoying the game with his wife. A few innings later, Moreno is sitting in the radio booth talking away with the announcers.
No matter what you may think, this truly is a big deal. I have always admired Moreno for his accessibility, especially to the fans. As he said today, whether he likes it or not, the fans are more than willing to talk to him and tell him what they think. And the best part? He listens!
I cannot think of any other team owner that actually sits with the fans during any game, Spring Training or regular season game. They are hiding in their little glass enclosed booths, hiding from the people that pay to see their teams play ball which is truly a shame. Maybe they are afraid to hear what these fans will tell them, but if they are, maybe they shouldn't be running a team!
Moreno has done a wonderful job of running the Angels, and listening to the fans and taking note of what is going on with the world. Today he talked at length about the bad economy and how they are working hard to figure out how to make things cheaper and easier for families to actually be able to afford to come out and see a game. Yes, the man is in this as a business, but still, he is very human and knows that people are getting poorer by the day. Gotta admire the man for that too :)
Think about your favorite team, no matter what the sport. How many games have you attended where the owner of that team was sitting somewhere surrounded by the fans and listening to their praises and their disappointments. You probably have never seen that owner in the stands with the regular folks.

Memory Not As Good As It Was?

Remember when you got your computer out of the box and hooked it all up? It was so much nicer than your old one, and faster too. You could fly through cyberspace with this one!
Now, you've had that computer for a while and you notice that it isn't as speedy as it used to be. You sit in front of that computer looking at new ones online, drooling over all the fancy features. But then you see the price tag! In these tough economic times, seems like all you get to do is dream about a new computer, you surely can't afford one. But, all hope is not lost!
When you first got your computer and marveled at its speed, it wasn't running that much stuff. As time passed and you added more and more of your favorite things, the computer slowed down, as the things you like require lots and lots of memory. So, instead of a brand new computer, maybe all you really need is to buy computer memory.
Click the link above and see just how easy this can be. Their memory finder tool will take you through the steps to find just the right memory for your computer. Take the hassle out of buying memory by letting them do the work for you. They'll find the right match for your computer, tell you how much memory your machine can handle then show you what they recommend. Nice and simple :)
So, don't sit there all gloomy because you cannot afford a brand new computer. Get yourself more memory and watch that old machine fly through cyberspace again!

Too Much Sadness

My house is gloomy today, and all of us that live here are very sad. The lovely little dog I wrote about in this blog just a few short weeks ago is no longer with us :(
While out for an evening stroll and potty walk Brownie got loose from Shelly's hand and he and the leash went out into the street where a car hit him. The only comfort, if there is comfort, is that he appears to have died instantly, no bleeding, no whimpering in pain, no suffering for Brownie. I have no clue what the driver was thinking, Shelly said he didn't even slow down, nor did he stop after he hit the dog. I don't understand how someone can not stop after hitting an animal, any animal, pet or not :(
A friend in the neighborhood came over and buried Brownie which was very nice of him. It's hard to lose a pet, even one that you haven't had very long. They just attach themselves to a family so quickly. I shall miss this dog, he was rather a cute little critter.
I hope that all of us can get over the trauma of losing Brownie in such a tragic way. As for the driver, I'm sure Karma will catch up with him someday...

REST IN PEACE, BROWNIE

The Bug From Hell

The bug from Hell appears to be living quite comfortably inside of my poor, tired body. I thought I had gotten rid of it but it came back with a vengeance! No matter what I take it just seems to laugh it off and continue enjoying itself at my expense.
Some days I am vomiting and some days, like today, I have it easy, I just have the runs. I took enough drugs last night to knock out an elephant but I stayed awake for most of it, dozing off for mere minutes at a time. Needless to say, today I am spent :(
I do hope I can get over this bug soon. I already missed bowling last Thursday and I hate missing my bowling night!
Hopefully, all of you dear readers are feeling great and are not sick at home with the bug from Hell :)

Safety First

No matter what you do for a living, there are safety hazards around your job site. Whether it be from carrying boxes from one place to another, using chemicals or simply from someone leaving something on the floor that you do not see until you have tripped or slipped! All of these safety hazards can be avoidable, with proper training, and every employer has the responsibility to provide their employees with that training. No one wants to have an accident!
But, what I want to talk about today has specifically to do with your hands, as, no matter what job you do, those hands of yours play a very important part and should be taken care of in a proper manner. So, let's talk about safety equipment in regards to your hands.
Proper hand protection is crucial to your work environment, and Critical Tool carries gloves for every situation: cotton gloves for inspection, nitrile gloves for chemicals, latex gloves for the medical field, heat resistant gloves (high heat gloves), dipped and coated gloves, Ansell gloves, welding gloves and many more! Click on the link above and see for yourself just which safety gloves are the correct gloves for you.

They even have gloves to keep your hands warm in cold weather, say, when you are just driving to work or working outside when the weather isn't warm. As you can see, Critical Tool has your hands covered no matter what you may do to earn your living.

Guess Who

Woke up today with an earache,a sore throat and a headache? Darn it, I thought this mess was gone from my system but I see now that it was just taking a breather before attacking me again :(
Maybe I am mistaken, but it certainly appears to me that the more advanced our society gets, the more advanced the germs get too. When I was a kid, you got a cold or the flu and you spent a couple of days resting getting lots of fluids and maybe some Vick's Vaporub for your chest and all was well. And the best part? The bug didn't come back at you every few days like this one is doing.
*SIGH*
Lord knows, I miss those days...

How Desperate

Hospital patients getting drunk on gels
LICHFIELD, England (UPI) -- Some patients in British hospitals have been using alcohol hand gels to get intoxicated, the National Health Service says.

The health agency has issued an official patient safety alert to hospitals and clinics throughout Britain, The Daily Telegraph reported. The gels have been used in patient care for more than four years.

Reported thefts of the alcohol hand gels by patients have already resulted in two hospitals in Staffordshire clearing their wards of gel dispensers.

The dispensers are typically placed around hospital wards for employees to use to fight the spread of infections.

Paramedics who have treated patients accused of stealing the dispensers claim desperate patients with addictions will consume the alcoholic solution despite the presence of a foul-tasting chemical.

The Telegraph said an unspecified number of deaths and serious incidents have been attributed to the consumption of hand gel.

I Hate Computers!

Well, not actually computers per se, since I spend 90% of my waking hours in front of one. Actually it isn't even the computer parts that bug me, although that's part of my problem.
My biggest problem is with a certain software company that makes the operating system. Because they are so afraid that somebody might actually want to steal their product they make it nigh on impossible to swap hard drives and keep all their stuff intact :(
I think I like the 95 version best, you could just copy and paste it onto the new drive, reboot and there you go! But, not with this new version.
So, I now have two hard drives inside, both of them with mostly the same stuff on them, but only one of them will actually boot the computer. So, until I am feeling extremely patient and have tons of time with nothing to do, this is how things will stay. Eventually I may just dump all the programs off the master drive, delete all their shortcuts from the desktop and then go into the slave drive and make new shortcuts pointing to the slave.
But, today is not the day. I am not patient. I am tired and cranky and sore from trying to get things to work earlier. Dealing with two computers doesn't seem that bad, but lifting them and moving them around the room seems to have made my back ache.
As for Mr. I Got More Money Than Damned Near Everyone, I hope you and your software geniuses are happy. Maybe you could spend some of that money on something useful, like fixing your software so that you don't always seem to be coming up with another Security Fix. I'm probably asking way too much...

Victory For The Little Guy

I can relate to this story, and I am happy that he won his battle. I was forced to quit wearing my loud shirts at work because the school made us all wear work shirts with our names and positions on them, which totally stunk :(
LITTLESTOWN , Pa. (UPI) -- The Littlestown Borough Council in Pennsylvania has voted to allow a school crossing guard to continue wearing his trademark silly hats to work.

Larry Douthwaite, who has worked as a crossing guard in Littlestown for 15 years, said he is known as the "Hat Man" to children and residents because of his collection of funny hats, including a 2-foot-tall stovepipe hat and a pharaoh-style head covering, WGAL-TV, Lancaster, Pa., reported Wednesday.

However, he said borough officials told him two weeks ago that he could not wear any hats on the job other than his borough-issued "school patrol" hat after labeling his on the job headgear as unprofessional and a distraction to drivers.

Douthwaite and his supporters took the case to the Littlestown Borough Council, which voted unanimously Tuesday to allow the crossing guard to continue to sport his funny hats at the crosswalk. He said he planned to celebrate the victory Wednesday by wearing his pharaoh hat to work.
