How Ironic

After more than a week of rain, rain and even more rain, the sun finally decided to show up for the day. Looked very lovely as I sat here looking out the window and enjoying the warmth that the sunshine brought in.
Suddenly, without any warning whatsoever, the power to my house went off! I assume it wasn't just my house as we just paid the bill a few days ago, but the neighborhood.
So, here I sat with no power, no computer, no nothing but the sunshine which also went away quickly as more clouds rolled into the valley.
Since I had been sitting here contemplating microwaving some food I guess it was good that we have cereal and milk, or I might starve without my precious electricity.
Power was off for about an hour, not that big of a deal, just seemed ironic that the one day of nice weather in such a long period of time is the day the power goes off.

I'm Deaf

Since I first got sick, right after Thanksgiving, I have had either an earache or my ears have been plugged. The past couple of days the plugging has gotten worse, to the point where I can barely hear anything even when the person talking is right beside me. I can hear their voice modulating so I know they are talking but I don't have a clue what they say :(
I hope that this will go away soon, it is very frustrating! I know that it is because my sinueses are plugged up. For a few minutes at five thirty this morning I was awake and my nose was fairly clear and I was breathing great and I noticed that my ears were fine. Too bad no one was talking at the time lol
I saw somewhere that allergy medicine might help unplug my sinuses so I might have to give that a try. I do not wish to be deaf!

Printer Ink

If you own a computer, and these days who doesn't, you will at some point in time need a printer to go with it. Whether it is for printing out work related documents or simply an email someone sent to you that is full of jokes, a printer becomes one of the necessary accessories to your PC.
I have a great printer, a HP printer that is as reliable as can be. The problem for me has been finding hp ink cartridges at a reasonable price. But, not any more!
Depending on the model HP printer that you own, this website has cartridges for as low as thirteen bucks! Quite the deal I must say. These days every dollar one can save is a blessing. Times are tough and the recession does not seem to be going anywhere fast unfortunately. Or perhaps you are like me, living on a fixed monthly income that never seems to stretch as far as it should. A bargain is a true blessing for me!
You say you don't own an HP printer? No problem! They also have cartridges for other brands of printers like Canon and Epson and Lexmark. So you should go check out the site, find the printer ink that you need and order a few cartridges. That way you know that you will have the ink on hand when you need it most.

Crappy Weather

It is rainy and cloudy today and I am as sleepy as can be without being asleep. I hope it is just the crappy weather and not me having some sort of relapse with this pneumonia.
I am very tired of being sick and even more tired of the crud that has come with being sick. Mostly I miss my hearing. My ears have been plugged for so long that when they do finally unplug and I can hear normally again it will probably hurt!
Even though I still have work that needs to be done I think I am going to take a break from the computer and the weather and go hide underneath some covers.

Eczema Treatment

Are you one of the millions that go through life scratching constantly or trying to hide skin that looks terrible because you suffer from eczema? Do you even know what eczema is?

Eczema is term for a group of medical conditions that cause the skin to become inflamed or irritated.
The most common type of eczema is known as atopic dermatitis, or atopic eczema. Atopic refers to a group of diseases with an often inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, such as asthma and hay fever.
According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, the prevalence of atopic eczema is increasing and affects 9 to 30% of the U.S. population. It is particularly common in young children and infants. While many infants who develop the condition outgrow it by their second birthday, some people continue to experience symptoms on and off throughout life. With proper treatment, the disease can be controlled in the majority of sufferers. But, what is the best eczema treatment available that is just right for you and your skin?
You could search for many hours online looking for the answer to that question. Or, being smarter, you could simply click the link above and read the reviews of others that have done the research for you. You do not have to suffer the itching and scratching or the covering up of your skin, you can get treated and help yourself get over this.
Of course, like anything that is medical, you should consult your doctor before using any products. Let the medical expert help you.
The choice is simple, get treatment or hide your skin. Which do you prefer?

Empty Or Full?

Last night was one of those half empty/half full questions. I am still recovering from the pneumonia and the darned virus is being stubborn about leaving my system.
Last night while playing games I had the awful feeling I was about to make a mess of myself and I needed to run to the bathroom. Unfortunately for me I am walking slowly and am not about to try running LOL
I did make it to the pot in time and there I sat for what seemed like an eternity getting rid of more waste than I thought my skinny body could hold. I finally managed to make my way back to the kitchen and the computer when, a short while later, Nature called again! How could I have more to get rid of???
I finally resolved myself to skipping anything outside of the bedroom area so that I could be closer to the bathroom. I hate that!
But it did get me to thinking, is this having the runs all that bad? Is this my body's way of getting rid of the virus inside of me? Or was it simply the junk food I had for dinner disagreeing with me?
Half empy or half full?

Smart Phone

I'll admit it, I really don't care that much for cell phones. Heck, I don't care all that much for a regular telephone either. I own a cell phone though. It's a very simple phone, allowing me to send texts and make telephone calls. I could access the internet on it but never have and never will. That's what I have a computer for. My wife, on the other hand is just the opposite, she could easily be called a cell phone fanatic.
She spends hours looking at cell phones and determining if they are good or bad, worth the price, etc. And, when she finds one she likes a lot she starts to drool a little, reminding me of Homer Simpson staring at doughnuts. So I have no doubt in my mind that she will drool when she sees this Smart Phone, the htc desire 2.2:

According to the website, the HTC Desire Smartphone brings the latest version of Android to its already top quality hardware. The HTC Desire Z™ with Android comes with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, HSPA connectivity and Bluetooth capabilities, connect to quick Internet browsing at your finger tips. With super fast download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps, the HTC Desire Z™ could be the fastest Smartphone yet! Get down to business by quickly accessing your work contacts, calendar and docs while on the go. Take a break to view videos on YouTube or movies. HTC Desire Smartphone allows you to immerse yourself in the ultimate gaming experience with the vividly superb 480 X 800 WVGA high-resolution 3.7" screen.
And, right now this beauty is available for just $79.95. That's a darned good price by my standards. Heck, I spent half that amount and got my wife a phone that can surf the net and simply take photos. This Smart Phone could be just the perfect gift for my wife!
If you are thinking about getting a new cell phone for someone on your gift list or even yourself, you need to check this Smart Phone out for yourself. Imagine the joy on someone's face when they receive this as a gift. If they didn't love you before, they certainly will now!

Time To Switch

These days, with the economy the way that it is, everyone is looking for the best bargains they can find. They shop diligently, scouring the ads and the aisles for ways to save money on food, clothing and gadgets for the home. Makes perfect sense to me since I do it as well. But, why stop with those choices?
With a new year rapidly approaching perhaps this is a good time to think about switching your insurance policies as well. Time to check out the website here and find some cheap insurance.
Make certain that while you are saving money that you do not scrimp on the insurance needs that you have though. Get all the coverage that is necessary and still save some bucks. There will be nothing good later if you discover that you managed to save a few greenbacks but don't have the right coverage!
Check out the site, do a little research and decide what is the best way to go for you and your needs. Then grab the bargain, pat yourself on the back for being so smart and put those savings away somewhere for when you find a truly great bargain in your favorite store.

Time

One thing I have noticed about being so sick is that time passes differently than when you are healthy.

For instance, we all know just how easy it is to sit down at the computer for a few minutes, look up and realize that an hour has passed by in those "few" minutes.

Being sick I notice that I can moce from my prone position in bed to sitting up for what seems like a long time only to look at the clock and realize just a few moments have passed.

I will be happy when my time returns to some sense of normalcy. I will be even happier once I am healthy again :)

Out Of It

I am sleeping way, way, too much. I hope it is just the antibiotics kicking my butt. I sleep almost the entire day and night since I came home from the hospital. I have things I need to do but have no clue where I will get the energy to do them, so they get put off.
It takes me hours just to get out of the bed and walk into this kitchen so that I can do my updates for this blog or Facebook and to do my daily "work" that pays me pennies. I hope this is a temporary thing as I do not like being quite so lazy.
I do seem to be feeling better and I notice that I can pretty much taste things that I am eating or drinking so that is a good sign right there :)
I hope that none of you ever get this old or this sickly, it is not any fun at all.

Electricity Is In The Air

It's Winter time, we all know that. Some places already have had tons of snow fall on the ground. The problem with Winter is that most people have carpet and with carpet comes static electricity.
Carpeting might be nice most of the time but not during the Winter. During the Winter is the time one really wishes they had wooden floors, as they not only look nicer than carpet but it also keeps you from shocking yourself (or your appliances) when you simply move across the floor.
Of course you can always put on a pair of socks and slide across a wooden floor like the guy in the movie did and many have re-done it for commercials. Looks like fun however now that I am old and currently sickly I shall pass LOL
But most people think that wooden flooring is expensive and way beyond their budgets. Not true. You can buy discount laminate flooring at very reasonable prices without suffering loss of quality. In fact one can purchase this delightful wooden flooring for about the same price (or less) than you would pay for tiling or carpeting, under $2.00 per square foot!
So, why suffer through another year of static electricity and shock? Look into these handsome floors that are available to you and (should you feel really frisky) slide yourself across that floor!

Rough Times

It is hard to type this. Not because it is something horrible but it is because it is hard for my fingers and the keys on the keyboard to meld together the way that they used to, before I got old.
A few weeks back I turned sixty. Not that old for this day and age, that's for sure. But, old enough for me. Actually it isn't the getting older part that has done me in,it is the getting sick part that tried to destroy me.
I am at home typing this on my PC, same as always. I have spent the past five days in the hospital with pneumonia, and I had been sick for at least five days prior to finally calling 9-1-1 and going to the hospital. I had not eaten anything hardly in the last 3 or4 days I had been sick at home and that didn't make matters any easier. If anything, it made things a whole lot worse!
But, I am at home now and my two females are paying very close attention to every move I make, every sound I utter. I'd be willing to bet that if I burped right now my daughter, sitting close to me, would raise up her face and ask me if I am okay, do I need anything, etc. Nice to be loved, not always so nice to feel like you are being so closely guarded LOL
At least I managed to type this blog update, that is a great start. I have some more paid posts to write and must be able to type them. Otherwise I will have to get one of those programs that turns speech into text and I don't want to do that. Not the way I talk! lol

Lipozene

Are you one of the many dieters that have tried the product called lipozene? If so you are also one of the many that has realized that it does not work as claimed, or that is what I found out when I visited a site called getdietsolutions. What good is a diet supplement that will not work to help you rid yourself of those unwanted pounds?
According to the website, Lipozene is just an overpriced, glorified fiber pill. It contains a glucomannan, a form of fiber that reduces your appetite. It helps a little bit, but not enough to help you lose more than a pound or two. A pound or two? Heck, who goes on a diet to simply lose a pound or two? Never saw anyone do that!
What dieters truly need is to lose a lot of weight, and they need to do it with supplements that truly work for them as well as a plan of action that changes how they eat. Oh, and don't forget some exercise.
Okay, so now that you realize that the product appears to be all hype, what products should you be looking for? According to the site, here are the top three diet pills for 2010:
Apidexin
Phenphedrine
Ephedrasil Hardcore

Check these products out, see how much they will cost and if they are right for your body and weight loss goals. As always I suggest that you take this information to your doctor and discuss it with them before you take them. Do they have side effects that your body cannot handle if they happen? Your doctor knows your body better than anyone, so get their advice.
Also, don't just simply take a diet aid and do nothing else. Try to control what you eat and how much you eat. Get into some sort of exercising plan as well. Again, I urge you to discuss exercise with a doctor, first.
Set a reasonable weight loss goal. Many dieters fail simply because they don't attain the goal they set for themselves. Start with a smaller goal, say ten to fifteen pounds, not fifty! Once you have reached the smaller goal and are feeling better about yourself, set the next level of ten to fifteen pounds. Keep using smaller goals that you can actually reach until all the weight you truly wish to lose is gone.
In the meantime, don't believe the hype of commercials for products. There is no one-pill-cures-all-dieters. Why? Because every body is different.

I Gave Up

Tired of dealing with that computer company in Arizona I finally gave up. I realize full well that no monitor is ever coming to my house from them so the whole thing just becomes a live and learn experience, water under the bridge, move forward.
I found a good deal on a refurbished monitor for the girls. It comes with a keyboard and a mouse which I truly need. The keyboard, anyway. The monitor is a Dell so it should be a nice durable, long lasting monitor. I have my fingers crossed at least! And the nice part is that it is a 17 inch monitor so that should help my wife with her bad eyesight.
The only bad part of the monitor is that it is a CRT monitor, not a flat screen, so it will require more space wherever we set up the computer. But, the best part was the entire package was only forty dollars and it has free shipping. (Please, God, let UPS find my house this time!)
In the meantime the girls seem very happy to be online with their computer. What I do is, each night before I go to bed, I switch the monitor over to their computer. In the mornings while I am sleeping they are able to do the things they wish to do online. Then, once I am up and have had my coffee and visited with my wife for a while we switch the monitor back to this computer. All is good this way :)

Bid And Buy

Tired of the online auction site that you normally use? Frustrated by losing that fantastic bargain at the very last second? Or are you simply looking for an alternative auction site? How about a new online auction site that you can join for free and use to buy or sell for NO fees? Yep, you read that correctly, NO FEES!
I like online auctions, in spite of my recent fiasco with the computer. You can really find some great items on these sites and with Christmas coming up that's even better. When your funds are limited, like mine, any money one can save is always a bonus. More so if you are, like me, buying presents for someone that has a fancy for more expensive items. If I can buy something expensive for a cheap price, all the better for me!
So, I looked into this website and the registration is very simple, as it should be. You can sign up as a buyer or a seller, and quickly be on your way to buying those bargains you see. Everywhere I went on the site from books to wholesale lots I saw that the seller accepts PayPal, just like the other auction site, so this is also a big plus. I like PayPal and they offer the buyer some protection so that's nice as well.
So, give the website a look-see for yourself. Sign up and be buying or selling in no time. And remember, there are NO FEES!. I have to say, I really like that part!

Weird Weather

Mother Nature is nuts! There appears to be no sense or logic of any kind in the weather lately. The past 2 days were like Winter, freezing temperatures and wind like crazy. Today is sunny and warm and no wind at all.
My body is not able to get used to something that changes so drastically so quickly. Although I like the weather of today, even though it is still cool here in my kitchen it isn't cold enough that I feel the need to run and turn on the heater.
I just wish Mother Nature would make up her mind, Winter or Autumn. Preferably Autumn LOL
Some days it is difficult to sit here and type as my fingers just do not wish to cooperate. But, I do the best I can to update this blog and do my duties as a game chat moderator :)

Netbooks

After the fiasco with my last computer purchase where it took over one month to actually get a working computer but still no monitor I realize that I should have gone with my first inclination which was to look at netbooks.
I bought an older laptop a while back thinking that was a nice purchase because the computer is portable. It was a nice idea but, because it was an older laptop, the monitor on it doesn't work most of the time. Part of that, I'm certain, is because my daughter used it almost all day and evening and she is careless of how to treat electronic devices. For instance, she sees nothing wrong with coming in the door and tossing her cell phone or Cd player across the room hoping it will land on her bed. The laptop perhaps never stood a chance.
Netbooks are like laptops, they are portable and are a complete computer. Unlike laptops though, netbooks tend to be more durable and can withstand some bad treatment here and there. Looking at the netbooks on this website I see that, for a bit more money, I could have gotten a very nice portable netbook that has a much larger hard drive and more memory than the PC I bought. I'm sure that one of these netbooks might actually outlast the PC I bought also.
Live and learn, I suppose. A hard lesson too. My wife is happy with the PC I bought her but I'm willing to bet that she, and our daughter, would be much, much happier with a netbook. So, I am now saving my money up for a netbook.

Long Winter

At one point in the day it was sunny and warm. Within two hours I was sitting here freezing. My hands are cold as ice. It is going to be a long Winter. It's only November and there are already frost warnings and the weather cannot decide what it wants to be.
I do not like Winter. Never mind my arthritic problems, I have never cared for Winter. Not even as a child when usually children are hoping for snow. I just never liked snow either I guess lol
I am not looking forward to this Winter if it is going to be as bad as it appears it will be. Give me sunshine and warmth!

Happy Females

Last night I let my wife use her new computer for a little while, I would have liked it to have been longer but time was short. She was pleased to see some things in a larger format than her Ipod.
This morning both my wife and my daughter got to use the computer for the first time in months. When I got up and it was time to switch computers I didn't get any hassles out of the daughter, she seemed happy enough just to have spent a few hours online.
I talked to my wife on the phone and she seemed much happier than the daughter about being online so that was great to hear.
Here is the way we will work this until I get another monitor for the wife's computer. When I go to bed (roughly 2-3 in the morning) I will move my keyboard and mouse out of the way and put hers here in front of the monitor. Then I will switch the monitor cable from my computer to hers. All they will have to do is turn the computer on and do whatever it is they do online.
It might seem like a hassle to some people but it is certainly better than the females having a computer and no monitor so no computer use. I liked the idea and they certainly seem happy enough with how it worked today.

Fix Those Circles

I had the opportunity a while ago to look at my face in the mirror. Not a pretty sight, I assure you. Not only do I desperately need to trim the forest of whiskers growing all over my face but I need to do something about my eyes. I have some serious dark circles under eyes.
I'm sure that part of this is because I have not been sleeping that well the past few days as I've been both ill with a cold of some sort and stressed out with the computer snafu and some other stuff that has been going on. I may be turning 60 soon but my eyes look like those of a zombie. Unless someone wants to hire me to be a movie zombie, it's time to think about getting my tired eyes some help.
I found a website that can assist me in this endeavor. They have spent countless hours reviewing various products available to get rid of those awful dark circles. I know I don't often leave the house and run into other people but still, I like to look as good as I possibly can for my wife and child. So, I shall investigate this website, check out their research and find a product that will work for me.
If you are like me, and many, many others suffering from these unsightly dark circles I urge you to join me at the website. Find something that will work for your eyes too and get ready to start looking not only younger but also better. Nothing wrong with looking your best, be you a semi-hermit type like me or someone that is always out and about running into people.

Eighty-Seven

Nope, not my age nor my I.Q. thank you. Eighty-seven is the number of updates Window had to install on Shelly's new computer just to bring it up to date.
I have no clue what all it updated beyond the things I recognized right off like the Flash Player, but I can say that it took almost an hour to install them all. That's using a high speed connection. On dial-up I would imagine you would set it up to run all night long and go to bed. Hopefully it would be completed by the time you woke up in the morning.
Before i updated Windows, knowing that would take a lot of time, I added three browsers to her computer so she can pick and choose which one she wants to use. I also downloaded AVG Free so that the computer is protected while she surfs the net. I wanted to download Skype but I couldn't remember her email address for Skype so I guess we'll have to add that one later.
All in all I think it was time well spent. I am so very happy that the computer works. Now all she needs is a new monitor and she will be good to go.

Decorate That Door

Yes, I know it isn't even Thanksgiving yet, but, as you can see by the photo, it's time to think about decorating your door with a new christmas wreath. This will not only make your door look much nicer, it will let all your visitors know immediately that you are in the holiday spirit!
Designed by Frontgate, this Classic Pre-lit Wreath is so realistic, according to the website, even Mother Nature won't know the difference. This meticulous conifer rendition is wonderfully dense for both indoor and outdoor holiday decor. Holiday wreath is crafted with cedar and pine tips on woodsy branches, while Red berries add an understated embellishment and Natural pinecones add a touch of realism. It comes with a 6' lead cord.
And, of course, now that you have a wreath, you really need to check out the other Christmas decorations available. Whether you are looking for some lights to trim your tree or to decorate your house outside or maybe even a display for your yard, this site can help you out.
Get into the holiday spirit now. Shop early and have all your decorations shipped to your door and start decorating the house and the yard. make your neighbors envious this year! Imagine the joy of watching visitors come driving by your house to enjoy all the work you put into your house and yard. Imagine the fun of having people come visit you and compliment you on how nice your home looks during the season.
Don't be an Ebeneezer Scrooge and say Bah, Humbug! Say Merry Christmas, everyone instead!

Success!

Finally! It works! *doing a happy dance*
Hooked up the new computer to this monitor and it works! Not sure what is going on with the other monitor. What was happening is that it tried to open Windows XP then went to a screen where i had to input the Authorization code for Windows XP. I never saw that screen at all with the other monitor. GRRR.
So, I guess now I will need a new monitor since the extra monitor I have won't work.
Always something...

But, *does happy dance again* the computer works!

Again???

Okay, so I got the new computer. Took forever since UPS could not find my house. No monitor but a computer. That's the somewhat good news. The bad news? This one does not work either!
It starts to load Windows XP then gives up, just like the last one did. Then it just sits there playing some sort of elevator music designed to drive any normal person insane after a few minutes of it.
I am hoping that it is because of the somewhat faulty monitor I used with it. I wioll try to use it with this monitor in a little while and see if that is the truth. Maybe I can't see what the computer is doing?
If it isn't the monitor then I will try to re-install Windows Xp. If that doesn't work I might try to use a different hard drive that has Windows XP on it and see if I can at least get the computer to work.
What I do not want to do is send this computer back and start over. I am seriously tired of dealing with this company and UPS.

Dark Circles

Dark circles under the eyes may work wonders for an athlete out playing sports in the sun, they even look rather cute on a panda bear. Heck, I guess you can say that they work well for zombies and vampires in the movies but, let's face it, they do not work well for the average human being like you or I.
Dark circles under the eyes can be caused by a variety of things like lack of sleep or allergies or even getting older. No matter the cause, if you look like someone has given you a "shiner" then you need to remedy the situation. If yours are caused by fatigue, then for crying out loud, go to bed and get some sleep already! Try to find the reason for looking like death warmed over every day and cure it. If it is because you are getting older, sorry, no cure for that.
If you have these awful looking dark circles and they refuse to go away, take heart. There are products out there that can help remove these unsightly circles and let you look like your normal self again. As is often the case with health and beauty products though there are way too many products on the market that claim to be the cure. Which one is the right one for you?
Much research should be done to find the answer to that question. Unfortunately most of us have neither the time nor the inclination to do such research. Thankfully, someone else has already done the research for us. All we have to do is avail ourselves of their hard work.Take a look around the website mentioned and see what products are researched to find one that will work best for you. Very simple, really.
If you suffer from allergies, before you use any product I suggest that you talk it over with your allergist to make sure that it will not cause any allergic reactions. The idea is to get rid of your dark circles, not make them worse.
Get ready to look like your normal self again. Then, only have dark circles if you need them to be there, like playing sports outdoors or dressing up as a zombie for a costume party. No one should have dark circles all the time. Unless of course you really are a vampire.

A Miracle

My cell phone rang and, since it was a local number, I answered. A man says he is sitting at the corner of 6th and K-4 with a package. I immediately turned to look out the window and, lo and behold, a brown UPS truck!
I said, I can see you through my window and I will be right out!
I spent a few minutes explaining to this young man why the addresses are so screwy. He left saying he would post this information somewhere back at the warehouse so that in the future UPS delivery people can find me. I hope that is true.
Now the computer, without monitor, is sitting in the kitchen waiting for me to open it up. I hope it works, I really do not want to go through all this hassle any more.
At this point I am thinking that if it works, that's it. No more dealings with this company, to heck with the monitor. I can always buy a monitor somewhere. I just want my girls to have a computer that they can use.
Pray for me!

Pimples And Hormones

Teenagers have raging hormones and they also get acne. That's pretty much a given, those two thoughts. Acne is caused by hormones so I think it is safe to assume that teenagers should get lots of acne. I remember my hormonal teenager years, I should have been one giant zit!
But, adults also get acne problems from time to time and I'm sure these are hormonal outbursts as well. Too much stress can drive your hormones out of synch as can a body's natural development of Life, like menopause.
No one likes acne, I'm certain of that. As a teenager you can survive the horrors of it a little easier because all your friends have the same problem. But, if you're an adult it gets a little tougher to deal with because not everyone around you is suffering from this awful hormonal acne.
So, off you go, searching for a cream or a wash that will help you rid yourself of these zits. Unfortunately, most of the stuff you find is designed for teenagers and don't work all that well to begin with. What you need is something more powerful, something that can clear up your skin! What you do not need is even more stress to put your hormones further out of synch.
You can spend hours scouring pharmacies and the internet looking for the product you need or you can be wise and simply click the link above and visit a website that has done the research to find the information that you need. Read their reviews and see what each product does. Find out how much does it cost to purchase it online at the cheapest available price. Saving money is always a good way to reduce stress.
Don't be the pimply-faced person you were as a teenager. Fight that hormonal acne with products that will attack the acne and get you quickly back to looking normal.

Different Day, Same Garbage

It is now just past five o'clock in the afternoon. It is a lovely day outside, the temperatures hit into the 90's today and it is still 89 degrees at the moment. The birds are chirping happily and dogs are frisky and happy as well. The only one unhappy appears to be me.
I am not totally unhappy. I did give up waiting for the UPS man to deliver the package from Hades and go cash my monthly check so that I can pay the rent. Want to ensure that I continue living in the house that no one can find!
So, now that I am back home I can continue waiting for something that surely is not coming today. With my luck the man came and found no one home in the half an hour that we were gone. *sigh*
Another bright note for the day was that I got paid some money for writing assignments. Thirty five dollars into my PayPal account. I have almost one hundred again which will certainly be great as Christmas shopping time is getting nearer.
I hope your day has been a great day too!

Like A Prune

Now, don't get me wrong, I like prunes. they are great tasting and I hear they are actually good for you. I try not to think about that part when I'm eating a prune though because, frankly, I don't care if they are healthy or not. they taste good and, besides, I will be sixty in a couple of weeks and it's a little late for me to worry about living to old age. The other thing I find interesting about prunes is how wrinkly they look compared to how smooth they looked when they were plums.
While the dehydration process that prunes go through is something none of us will ever have to go through, the sunshine we all love to soak up can, somewhat like dehydration, turn out skin into something resembling a prune. Years of sunshine, hard work and stress, even too much crying or laughter can all start to wrinkle our skin. For many people that's okay. But for most people they don't want to look like a prune, they want to look young and smooth like a plum.
We don't have access to a time machine that can take us back to all the moments in life that wrinkled us up so we have to rely on a little help from health and beauty products to smooth those wrinkles up. But, what is the best anti wrinkle cream and where can we find it?
You are online at the moment reading this so i think it is safe to assume you have internet access. You can spend countless hours looking at products that are on the market (and still probably miss some) and hopefully find the results you're searching for. Or, you can do the smart thing and check out the website that has already done the research for you, topwrinklecream dot org!
The site has reviewed the products so that all you have to do is find one that fits your specific wrinkle needs and your pocketbook and be on your way to a younger looking, less wrinkled skin. Simple, easy, fast!
Why should you avail yourself of the website and it's services? Think of it this way, remember all the times you had to do research for school or work? Remember how many times it made you frown? I wonder how many wrinkles, or the beginnings of them, that research gave you.
Look more like a plum and less like a prune, get some anti-wrinkle cream. Oh, and when you're done applying it, eat a prune. they really are good for you and they do taste wonderful.

Oh, Brother!

Here we go, again :(
Called UPS and got someone I could barely understand. has UPS sent their Customer Service section to India? Had a tough time explaining to the young lady that this is the third or fourth time in three months that UPS could not find my house.
She then tried several times to convince me that I needed to go to the UPS warehouse and pick the package up. I spent as much time trying to explain to her that I cannot do that as I do not have a car nor a way to get there!
Finally she took my cell phone number and information. Now I am waiting for the local company person to call me so I can explain (again) how they can find this house.
This computer purchase has gone well beyond the purchase from Hell! This had better be a damned good computer!

No Surprise Here

At approximately 8:30 this morning the computer left the UPS center for delivery. It is now 6:30 in the evening and no UPS delivery person has been here.
According to the UPS website they package is still "out for delivery". To where, UPS? Timbuktu?
I fear that it will not be arriving at my house any time soon. They can't find my house in the bright sunshine I doubt that they will be able to find my house now that it is dark. And to make things worse, the porch light is burned out.
I think I am going to start asking people I buy things from if they can use the US Postal Service. At least when they don't wish to deliver things to my house they leave me a note in my mailbox saying go and pick it up at the post office.

Pay Day Advances

Life can be tough at times, we all know that too well. Too many bills and not enough paycheck. No matter how much you make seems like we all wish payday would come around quicker.
Bills are due when they are due, not when you have a payday. Often bills, especially utility bills, are not due on the first of the month but rather towards the end of the month. Not sure why that is, maybe Edison and the Gas Company pay their people at the end of the month.
Sometimes you find something that you really want or need and it is on sale but the sale will be long gone by the time your payday rolls around. Times like this have been agonizing in the past but they do not have to be agonizing any more. Payday is a week away? No problem! Just get a payday advance and purchase the item on sale or pay that bill that looms over your head.
Is it expensive to borrow this way? Not really. Here is an example I found on the website:
The cost depends on the state in which you reside. For example, in Utah a $100.00 loan due back in two weeks would cost you $17.00
Sure, you could probably borrow that one hundred dollars from a friend and skip the seventeen extra, providing of course that your friends are not all in the same boat as you are, living from payday to payday. What are the odds of that? Slim to none I'm sure.
The service is out there, take advantage of it. You can even apply for a loan over the phone, just call (866)294-4672 and get started. The process is quick and easy either way that you do it, website or telephone.
Why wait for payday if you truly need some extra cash right away?

Here we go again

It is Tuesday, just after 11 o'clock in the morning. The UPS drivers have been up and running for several hours now.
Have they been to my house with their package? Of course not! Wonder what their excuses will be this time? Can't find the house? Left the package on someone elses porch?
Maybe they will do the right thing and call my cell phone so that I can give them directions to my house behind a house. Nah, that would be sensible.

Impossible

The holiday season is fast approaching and most of us are now seriously beginning to think about the gifts that we need to purchase for family and friends. Most often that is a simple enough process because we know what they have, what they want or what they need.
I think we all know someone though that it always seems impossible to buy for. If they want or need something they just go and buy it. When you ask them what they want for Christmas (or their birthday) they are at a loss for words.
This is where online gift cards can come to the rescue. Giving that hard to shop for person a gift card might seem a little tacky at first but think of this before you shake your head no. How many times have you bought this person a gift only to discover later that they had returned your gift and bought something else with the money? Which is tackier, them returning your well thought out gift or you simply getting them a gift card so they can buy whatever it is they want?
And, if you like the idea of these gift cards, you can always buy one for yourself. Use it the same as a pre-paid credit card and shop safely online for yourself. No need to worry about giving out your credit card information online, as the gift card will have a specific value and no more.
Check out the cards that are available and the stores that you can use them in. Give that impossible person a gift they will truly enjoy getting!

What A Night

Not the Four Seasons hit song, just a thought of what a night. In fact, what a terrible night! The only blessing is that it finally ended.
It started off with coughing fits. Something appeared to be stuck in my throat and it wouldn't shake itself loose. I tried eating a piece of bread, drinking plain ordinary water instead of coffee, I even tried gargling with warm salt water. Nothing worked.
I took some Tylenol PM and headed for bed and sleep. The coughing had subsided and I thought the worst was over. Wrong!
I managed to sleep for a few minutes when I was awakened by the cough again. This time there was no stopping it. It just went on and on and on. And it managed to disrupt the rest of my body's systems.
I won't go into terribly sickening details here, just suffice it to say that at one point I was using both the toilet and the waste can in the bathroom, at the same time. Even that didn't slow things down.
All that happened was now I was coughing like crazy and shivering as well. Even under two very heavy blankets and laying beside a nice warm puppy I was shivering. I was constantly in and back out of the bed. I feel sorry for my lovely wife, I have no clue how she managed to get any sleep with me doing this.
Finally the coughing slowed down and I managed to drift off to sleep. Suddenly I was awakened by a noise. It was my wife's alarm clock which I rarely ever hear. The night of torture was seemingly never going to end for me.
It was 9 a.m. and a few minutes later I finally managed to go to sleep. All of my dreams had to do with body parts so I can only imagine that I was hurting from all that coughing.
My wife let me sleep until around 3 in the afternoon, bless her soul. I was awake when she came into the room but was afraid to move enough to get up. Head to toe seemed to hurt. Even my hernia hurt!
It has been almost three hours since I got up and I am still feeling aches and pains everywhere. I am not coughing as much as I was last night so I am thankful for that. I do cough from time to time but that seems to be my normal cough.
If I never go through another night like last night it will be more than fine by me.

Friendly Ghost?

Nope, not Casper! Guess again.
There is a spirit inside my house. I do not know if it is one of those that was in the house I used to reside in or a new one. I can say that this one seems friendly though and that is a good thing.
Playful ghost, too. A little while ago I went to use the bathroom and found, on my way through my bedroom that there was toilet paper all over the floor. Usually this would be blamed on the dog because he seems to like toilet paper too. But not this time. Today the puppy has been in the kitchen with me since I got out of bed.
No, the dog didn't make that mess I'm certain. I have no doubt in my mind that I would have seen that mess when I got up and came out of the bathroom and made my way to this kitchen.
So, I believe it was the spirit of the house. Just another unexplained happening. Yesterday while I was alone in the house I heard a crash coming from my daughter's bedroom area. I didn't go look to see what it was but she told me later that a poster she had on the wall had come down and that must have been what I heard. yeah, right. Awful lot of racket for one silly poster.
The spirit has done some good here though. I have a small pillow that I use to keep my bony knees apart when I sleep and it somehow got lost. I asked the spirit to return it if they knew where it was and the pillow reappeared a couple days later. Odd thing is that it reappeared somewhere where I had already looked several times before, under the blankets on the bed. I'm happy though because I really need that pillow :)
I now have asked the spirit to help, if it can, find a wallet my silly child lost somewhere. It contains her social security card and an ID which she cannot replace. I'll explain that mess in a later entry. Just dumb is all I can say!
I shall continue to try to communicate with the spirit as best I can, hoping that it will eventually trust me enough to communicate back to me.

Just For The Ladies

Do not worry guys, this post is not filled with male bashing. It is, however a post just for women. You can read it if you like though, no problems there.
In almost sixty years of living I can count on one hand all the women I have met that did not believe they were too fat. And I would have fingers left over. I once saw a young lady that was about as tall as I am and near as skinny and she was telling her friend that she needed to lose weight! I looked at her in disbelief, wondering just where she thought she was fat! This young lady was fooling herself, for certain, but many women believe they need to lose weight and are correct, they really do.
But, what products are available for these women? They go searching for the latest fad diet plans and books when they should be searching instead for diet pills for women. Yes, diet pills for women. Sorry, guys (if you are still reading) but these pills are not designed for you. Women only!
Now, ladies, you could spend hours, perhaps days, scouring the internet in search of these diet pills but which of you ladies has that sort of extra time? Not many women (or men for that matter) have that much time to spend on research.
Fortunately someone has already spent those precious hours looking and scouring the internet and stores and have found products that are just for women to help them lose some weight! Nice, huh? All you have to do is look at the various products and choose the one that you feel is correct for you.
As is always my advice in these matters, I urge you to visit your doctor and discuss the product with him or her. While there you can also talk about some sort of exercising program that fits your body. We all know that diet pills alone are not the entire answer to weight loss, you need to exercise as well.
Take of those unwanted pills and get ready for the new, healthier you!

UPS Again

Another segment in the "You gotta be kidding me" computer mishap. Got 2 calls today, must be my lucky day LOL
First call was from the computer company. They called because UPS has now told them that I received the two packages, the computer and the monitor. New to me! I told the man I have nothing, I had already told UPS that I had nothing a while back. I also told him that to UPS the $130 might be nothing but for someone like me on a fixed income that is a lot of money to just shrug off. I also told him that computer I bought was supposed to be a gift. He was very sympathetic and said the computer company would be getting back in touch with UPS.
UPS called a little while after that to ask me something about a man named Mart Stewart. Told the young lady I have no idea who this guy is. She also asked me if a UPS driver had been to my house. Told her I have not seen a UPS driver in weeks. She told me to have a nice day. Yeah, right. Give me my computer and monitor and I will have a very nice day! lol
So, the mishap continues...

Tea Tree Oil

When I first saw the term tea tree oil I thought it was some sort of solution one might use in aroma therapy. I was only half right with my guess as I found in searching for information that the aroma of tea tree oils have been used in some places to treat coughs and colds. But the primary usefulness of tea tree oil is actually that it is an antibiotic and it is great for improving skin care because of this.
Whether you suffer from teen acne or adult acne tea tree oil can help you alleviate this awful skin condition.
But the question remains, which tea tree oil is best? Which one will work for you? You could spend lots of your time searching the internet looking for this information but you do not have to do that. This website has already researched information for you and offer what they consider the best products available. They have searched through hundreds of acne fighting products to find the best options based on tea tree oil to eliminate problems with acne.
So, go to the site and have a look around. Find the product that you feel is right for your skin conditions and your wallet. Once you have the product then you will be on your way to clearer looking skin and be much happier when you look in the mirror.
Don't just complain about your acne, fight back with the medicinal tea tree oil!

Computer Saga Continued2

It has been well over a week since UPS began their investigation into the missing computer. Last thing I heard was from UPS and they thanked me for talking to them. That's it.
I have not heard squat from the computer company and that in itself is irritating :( I suppose I must get mean and grumpy again and see what the heck is going on.
This company is not high on my list right now, there customer service was good in the beginning but slowly has sunk into the depths of incredibly rotten!
It's only $130 but that's a lot of money to someone on a fixed income like me.

Give Them Up

The way things are going it won't be much longer, if it isn't already where you live, where the cost of cigarettes will deplete your entire paycheck. States are doing these incredible price increases for several reasons. One, they want you to be healthier and secondly because they really want all that tax money generated by smokers.
Here in California where I live they spend millions every year on television commercials urging people to quit smoking. They show people that appear to be much happier now that they have given up their smoking habits. Who wouldn't want to be healthier and happier? Don't know anyone that would say "not me".
But, we all know that giving up any sort of habit is hard. Giving up an addictive habit like smoking is even more difficult.
But, there is help available to help you stop smoking. They have lots of great information on how to quit smoking. You'll learn how to set a quit date, quit, and avoid weight gain. Learn ways to make quitting easier, even if you are a long-time smoker.Take a look at their quitting articles and help yourself to stop your habit.
Turn yourself into a healthier, happier person in a very short time using their advice. And, think of all the money you'll be saving! Think about it, you smoke one pack per day and you pay six dollars per pack. That's $2190 per year. Think of all the things you can buy with that extra money. Put it all away and save it up for a year, take a cruise with it or buy yourself a fancy widescreen newfangled television home theater. Anything but cigarettes.
Give them up. You'll be much better off, health-wise and financially.

Gift Cards

It isn't my usual thing here on this blog to complain about a company. In fact I like online businesses and have no qualms at all of promoting such things. But, not this time!
A couple months back I purchased a Visa gift card for myself from a company called VanillaVisa. Seemed like a good way to grab a few bucks on a credit card and shop online.
First I tried to use the card on Avon.com. I wanted to buy something for my wife but I couldn't. Avon apparently has decided for some reason not to allow users to purchase items with gift cards. WTH?? Okay, that's not VanillaVisa's fault. It did take VanillaVisa one week to give me back my money though so that stunk.
This time I tried to buy something for my computer from an online company called Surplus Computers. The transaction did NOT go through because of the gift card company! Since it is a gift card they have no address or name or anything like that so when I made the purchase using this information so that the company could send me the item they refused the purchase.
Basically I have a gift card with $20 that I cannot seem to use online. Guess I will send my daughter with it to the local store and she can buy some candy or potato chips or something.
I will never buy another one of these gift cards. Not much sense to buying something I cannot use! Might as well take twenty five dollars and toss it into the wind :(

You Can Be A Loser

No, that's not a slam about your personality or anything like that. No one wants to be a loser in that sense!
Nope, I am talking about your weight here. You know, those extra pounds you keep meaning to lose but never seem to get around to doing. I've never met an overweight person that didn't say they wanted to keep their excess pounds. They have tried dieting with all the latest fad diets but never stuck with any of them long enough to be of any good.
Many people try a diet plan but when they get to the part that says they should also exercise they lose interest. The average person thinks exercise is walking from their car to the store or office where they work. They complain if they have to park too far away from the store! Heck, it is sad but some folks think exercise is what you do when you get up from the couch and walk to the refrigerator for your next snack or soda. And they wonder why they are overweight.
You can lose those pounds if you try. What you need is a little help and some advice on how to how to lose weight fast. Not just the latest fad where the author is here today, making a fast buck on his book and taking the money and running never to be heard from again. You need good advice that will make sense to you and you alone.
Most people don't have the time or the inclination to research what is out there on the market that can assist them with their becoming slimmer. They rely on fads or someone else making a recommendation for them. Then they fail and wonder why.
You need advise that makes sense to you, and you alone. Every body is different, we all have different metabolisms, different health issues. A weight loss pill that works for someone else might be very harmful to you.
Check out the site I mentioned, it has different solutions for you to see. Find one that seems right for you. Take this information and visit your doctor for more advice. Will the pills take the weight off but give you health concerns you don't need? Your doctor knows what is what in this regard. Listen carefully to what the doctor tells you. Even the part that you are not going to want to hear, that dreaded word, exercise.
Not sure why we all seem to hate exercise. Heck, when we were kids we thought nothing of running all over the place, playing ball in the yard, the street, the school grounds, everywhere. We had so much energy it drove our parents crazy. Once we become adults that energy seems to vanish and it is a shame. Of course, if you're carrying around to many pounds on your body that will certainly slow you down!
There you have it. Get a program going that will work for you and lose those pounds. You, too, can become a loser!

How Silly!

Washington referees may face ban for charity pink whistles
By Cameron Smith

A group of high school football officials in Washington state were trying to support breast cancer research while working this week's games, so they made a pledge to donate all game checks to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Then, to top off the charitable gesture, they announced they would all use pink whistles during the games. Now there's a chance those whistles could cost the refs a chance to work state playoff games.
According to KING 5 News -- with thanks for the news report above -- and the Associated Press, officials who are part of the Pacific Northwest Football Officials Association who worked games on Thursday night were informed by the chair of the Washington Officials Association that they could face a two-game suspension for using pink whistles. The playoff ban is possible because the colored whistles violate the uniform protocol for state high school officials. Those uniforms allegedly call for black whistles only, and the WOA claims that no officials asked for permission to use pink whistles for their designated charity games.
The chair of the WOA, Todd Stordahl, told KING 5 News and MyNorthwest.com he has little choice but to discipline officials who used colored whistles. He claims that letting them continue without punishment would send the wrong message to student athletes.
"They chose not to ask for permission, not to go the right route," Stordahl told KING 5. "It sends the wrong message to kids that are playing the game. 'If they broke the rules why can't I do the same.'"
Though no discipline has been decided upon, Stordahl indicated it was likely that pink whistle-blowing officials would be suspended for two playoff games. That would not only keep the referees from working at the annual pinnacle of their sport, but also cost them two game checks.
Considering that the referees were already donating one game check to charity, that would leave them with three fewer checks than in a typical season.
Meanwhile, MyNorthwest.com is reporting the PNFOA is arguing the dress code for officials does not technically specify that only black whistles be used, which means any suspensions would be unwarranted. That follows a Tuesday PNFOA meeting in which the group's president, Mike Livingston, said the board voted unanimously to use the colored whistles, regardless of penalty.
The officials themselves seem to be on board with the PNFOA decision, due to a commitment the referees felt to both breast cancer awareness and each other. There's little indication that the threat that came Thursday night from the WOA will keep them from using the pink whistles they intended.
"A lot of the guys in the association have been touched by breast cancer in some way," referee Jeff Mattson told MyNorthwest.com. "So we decided to take on the Susan G. Komen Foundation."

Slim Down

I talk about it enough on this blog, you need to slim down! Not just you, but *points finger* you, and you, and you over there in the corner!
I know it's hard to shed those unwanted and unneeded pounds. I have spent my life living with people on a diet, always chasing one that they hope will work. The latest fad, the newest book, all in vain.
What you need is to be serious first of all. If you're not serious, then no matter what you try will not ever work. Once you've made a serious commitment then you need diet pills that will help you.
Do some research of what is available then pick the one that seems to be right for you.
Now, go visit your doctor with this valuable information and seriously discuss it. Your doctor knows what will be okay for your body and medical conditions. See? Not all that difficult.
Now, talk to the good doctor about some exercise planning and start with that. Before you know it you'll be a slimmer you. Sounds good, right?
Don't let another holiday season get you down because you are putting on even more pounds you don't want or need. Get started now!

Lose It

I did manage to get myself to the bowling alley where I enjoyed the company of people I have known for years and have bowled both with and against. I also enjoyed a pizza from the snack bar area, although it was costly as most snack bar foods are.
I also spent some time people watching, both bowlers and non bowlers. Unfortunately I noticed that a lot of people in the bowling center are overweight which seems rather ironic since people go to bowl for both fun and exercise. Overweight people need some exercise to help them (hopefully) lose some weight. They also need some help from diet pills that work.
From the looks of the people I saw, I can safely say that exercise alone is not going to help them with any thought of weight loss. Especially since, while they are there they are consuming fattening foods such as heavily buttered popcorn, pizzas and very large sodas.
Even without the foods and the sodas I know that exercise alone will not help them completely. They need some help from other things, like diet pills, and a re-thinking of their eating habits as well as the healthy exercise.
Many of these people will not use the diet pills because they do not know which ones are out there on the market, which ones actually work and which ones they can afford. And, they won't do the research required to find these things out.
But the website mentioned has done the research. All you have to do is browse through the products listed and find one that fits your needs and your budget. Then take that information to your doctor and get their medical opinion. The doctor knows your body's needs much better than you do.
Then, get some good exercise. I recommend bowling because it is fun as well as exercise. Just remember, avoid the snack bar and all it's fattening foods. If you must use the snack bar order a salad and drink water instead of soda.
Oh, yes, and lose that weight! Leave the pizza to skinny people like me!

To B(owl) or Not To B(owl)

It is October already and bowling leagues started in September. I have yet to set foot inside the bowling alley. Seems like every Thursday I am ready to go, mentally, but not physically. Either I have an upset stomach or something else comes up and I end up staying home.
I am determined to make it there today. I need to pay for my yearly locker rental before they haul my equipment out of the locker and God only knows where it will go from there :(
I'm not sure I can actually bowl any more. My body is failing me faster than it should, or at least that seems to me to be true. Maybe once I am there and caught up in the atmosphere my body will relent and allow me to do some actual exercise. I hope it will :)

Put That Down

Halloween is almost here, meaning it is time to think about passing out candy and other treats to little kids that venture to your door. The problem with this routine is that so many people will not only pass out sweets but will also enjoy them themselves. Such begins the pattern of the holiday season.
Everywhere you go there will be a party or some sort of social gathering. And, of course, there will be lots of foods and desserts and sweets. Your inner voice will tell you as you go for the goodies "Put that down!" Will you listen? Probably not. You will justify it by telling yourself one little piece won't hurt. But, if you are honest with yourself you know that that is a lie.
So, the holiday season will come and go and, as usual, your weight will increase. One little piece will always add up to a lot of little pieces and your tummy will be the proof of that truth.
So, you will have to go in search of a diet pill that works. Your New Years Resolution will be, again, to lose those unwanted pounds. Year in, year out, same resolution.
This year why not break that cycle? Why wait until after the holiday season? Start now! Check out all the advice on the website and find one that will work for you. Take this information to your doctor and discuss it with them as they know best what will actually help you.
Get through this holiday season without putting on those pounds. After all do you really wish to be considered for the part of Santa at some holiday party simply because you are fat enough? Think. Put down the goodies.

Semantics

In my game chat lobby the other day an argument of great proportions broke out. All over one silly, seemingly innocent, word.
One of the chat moderators was leaving the lobby after a small disagreement with a player. The Mod said she was leaving and followed it up with poof.
Now for most of us poof means to disappear, vanish, as a magician would make something go away. But one player, the one she had been arguing with was adamant that she had insulted him!
According to him, and a few other players living in Australia, the word poof does not mean to disappear. The word poof to them is slang for a homosexual person and the player demanded to know why the Mod had called him a homosexual as she was leaving.
It was incredibly hard for any of us, Mods and players alike, to keep a straight face and answer the accusation.
Even an Australian player said that she had not called anyone a homosexual and he even went so far as to paste the definition of poof in the lobby. Still the player that felt offended went on and on and on.
The matter was finally taken to the owner of the game site for clarification. His decision is that the word poof may still be used by anyone that wishes to use it as a means of saying good-bye.
Amazing how one little word could be so misconstrued and cause so much hostility and anger!

Light Up

While most people about now are planning their festivities for the upcoming Halloween, wondering if they will have enough goodies to hand out to the kids or if they have enough goodies for their spooky party, it is also time that lots of folks start thinking of the next holiday season.
Yes, it's time to think seriously about decorating the house, the tree and the wreath you'll be hanging on your door. For many of us it also will be time to look at the tangled mess of lights that we have left over from last year with the multitude of burned out lights and wires that seem to go everywhere. Perhaps we should just throw them away and start fresh with some brand new led christmas lights. Always seems so much easier than untangling last years fiasco!
Not only is starting anew easier it can also save you some money! Tossing out those old giant bulbs that waste a lot of energy and result in a much higher electric bill and using LED lights is beneficial to both your wallet and the environment. Plus these LED lights can last up to ten times longer than traditional bulbs!
Also available are great items to decorate your yard, like this 15-17" HOLOGRAPHIC POLAR BEAR:

So, while you are wondering about Halloween and candy set some time aside now to seriously think about Christmas decorations. The sooner you order them the sooner you can begin to dazzle your family, friends and the neighbors!

Ghosts?

My wife's dog is a small dog and like most small dogs likes to bark at things. People that walk by the house are especially good for barking at. I guess any excuse is a good excuse, more so when the neighbors dogs that are outside are also barking. Fun to see which dog will get the last word!
However there are times when this little dog barks at nothing. He stares intently as if he is seeing something but when I look there is nothing there. No movement from an open window breeze or anything, just nothing there.
I have to wonder if he is seeing the spirits that have followed me from my old house. There were several there at that address and they were, for the most part, friendly and somewhat protective of me. I know that at least one of them did follow me when I moved as I occasionally see the shadow as it crosses my bedroom. So, I have to wonder if this is what the dog is barking at when I see nothing there, just some spirit.
The bad part is that the dog sometimes greatly disturbs my daughter with his barking and she wonders what he is barking at. I have not told her that there are spirits in this house because she was very much disturbed by the ones in the old house. She thinks the spirits are out to get her.
Whatever the dog senses is not frightening to him or he wouldn't bark and whimper the way he does. He would run and hide as he is a smart little dog. I just wish he would bark a couple of times and stop. He however would rather bark quite a few times in several places before he stops.
So, I have to wonder, does the dog see the spirits that humans cannot see?

Let's Get Medical

I. like millions of others, hate going to see a doctor. Like most males I wait until things have reached the emergency level before I even think about a doctor. I know this is wrong but I still do it. When I do finally get to see a doctor I do expect them to solve all my aches and pains and ailments. And I expect them to have the best equipment that is available, you know, all the latest medical gadgets with all the bells and whistles.
Because heart problems run in my family with various relatives having heart attacks or strokes, the one piece of equipment that I truly want any doctor to have on hand is the latest and best ekg machine.
While I have not had serious heart issues I do have a history of lung troubles. When I go into an emergency room with chest pains I always am rushed to the nearest EKG machine to make sure it's not a heart attack. Sometimes I wish it were as lung troubles are so much harder to find and solve than heart issues.
If you are a physician or a health care professional then I urge you to have the best possible equipment available for your use. Whether that be a simple thermometer to the latest in EKG machinery I have no doubt that you will be happy to have the best equipment on hand. And I am certain that your patients, especially guys like me that wait for the last moment, will be even happier that you can help them quickly and efficiently.

You Must Be Joking

The computer and monitor spectacle has taken a new turn, a turn for the worst, a turn that takes this into unbelievable!
I sent the computer seller an email on Sunday saying it's been a week since they told me a replacement would be sent on Monday and I would really like some action on their part or a refund.
Today I got an email from them saying they had shipped the computer and monitor and, according to their information, it was delivered last Thursday. So, I took the tracking number they gave me and went to the UPS tracking site. Yep, according to UPS they did deliver the packages last Thursday.
Here is where it turns absurd. I sit at home all day every day using this computer. My view is through the window beside the table that looks directly towards the front door. I can see if someone comes knocking at that door. Now, according to UPS they delivered the packages and left them on the porch!
So basically what they are saying is that in spite of the fact that they are delivering over 20 pounds of goods in 2 boxes they just left it sitting on a porch somewhere, no signature required, no nothing, just leave the boxes and continue on their route???
I call the Customer Service man at the computer company to explain the situation. He is confused as I am as to why they would just leave the boxes on a porch. Now the next step is that he passes it along to a manager and that manager will contact UPS and launch an investigation into where the boxes actually were delivered, by whom and whatever else they deem appropriate. I hope he gives them a good butt chewing for being so stupid!
Ironic, Shelly told me before I ordered the computer and monitor for her that she was in no hurry, she could wait until December for a new one. At the rate things are going, she may just get it by then.

Sports Is Personal

I believe that every child and young adult should be involved in some sort of sports activity. Not only is it good for the body to get some actual exercise but it also helps with people skills. There is a real sense of camaraderie among people that play sports, whether they are your own teammates or players from the opposing team.
When my boys were kids they were interested in playing Little League baseball, which is a great sport for kids. It's a lot of work for the parents as there is always some sort of work to be done whether it is working the snack bar at the games or doing some sort of fundraising to help the team get better equipment. Let's face it, baseball bats break, gloves and shoes wear out.
A great fundraising idea for a sports team like Little League is personalized baseball bats. A fan of the team can have something great for their donations. Not all fans of Little League or Pony League games are parents. As a teenager I would often go watch baseball games being played on the local fields. I enjoy baseball and, since I could not play it, at least I could watch others having fun.
Sometimes at the snack bar I would see a jar or a large can with a sign asking for donations. Toss in your spare change or a dollar or so and feel good about helping the youngsters. Now imagine that, instead of a large jar, you could actually give the donor something physical. I should think that People would be more willing to donate for the cause this way. These personal items are not only cute but they can have your team logo on them making them quite the item!
So, your child or young adult is not into baseball? Not a problem. They also have other personalized sports items on this site, hockey, football, basketball and soccer. Very nice items at an affordable fundraising price. So, if fundraising for your team is part of your life you should check out the site and see what they have to offer you and your team.
Give your donors something tangible that they can hold in their hands as well as something personal, just for your team.

Boredom

Why do people come into a game chat room and type "I'm bored"? You're at a game site, how about playing some games? Do they think it is up to the other players or the moderators to entertain them?
I mean if you're in some sort of chat forum where all you do is chat then I could understand saying you're bored. But in a game chat room?
I guess I should be happy that this is all they are saying. Sometimes we get players in the chat that are clearly bored and just want to cause trouble with the other players or the Mods. These players are entertained by getting kicked out of the room!
If you are online and you are bored perhaps it is time to turn your computer off and go find a more entertaining place to be.

The Best Way

Is their a best way to lose weight? Sure, but only for some. What works best for you is not necessarily going to work best for your co-worker or your neighbor or even your spouse. Every body is different and every body has it's own requirements for losing weight.
So, with that thought in mind you have to look not for the best way but rather best ways to lose weight. Notice that there is a plural there, ways.
Now that we have your mind going in the proper direction your next question should be where do you go to find these ways. The answer is simple, really. You go online, just where you are at the moment. You spend hours, maybe even days, searching for every single piece of valuable information you can find. Simple, yes? No? You do not want to do all that work on your own? No worries, my friend.
The website I linked to above has lots of information for you all in one handy and convenient website. They have done all the hard work for you, making things incredibly simple. All you have to do is look at the information and make simple choices for yourself.
Once you have the needed information at hand, talk to your doctor. They know what your body can, and cannot, handle. They will be happy that you have taken that first step to a slimmer, more healthy you.
Simple is best.

Phase Two

Finally got a ride over to the UPS place and shipped off the computer that didn't work. It should arrive there tomorrow and if they ship another one right away I might get it by Friday. I don't think they will be that speedy though so I am assuming the next one will not arrive until sometime early next week.
I did kinda fib a little when I shipped it off. I told the UPS guy it was just a bunch of electronic parts (which in fairness is true), He assumed it was stereo parts and that's what he put on the ticket. Total charge for shipping was under sixteen dollars.
Years ago one of my sons loaned me a laptop and then he returned home to Washington State. Once I got my desktop up and running (it was messed up) he wanted his laptop back, naturally, and I agreed to ship it by UPS.
I did not think that shipping such a small item would be all that costly but, boy was I wrong. As soon as the UPS guy found out I was shipping a laptop computer the charge for my small box went up to around eighty dollars! I was a working man then and it was my son so it wasn't out of reach to pay it.
Now days though, on this fixed income of mine, there was no way I could afford a high fee because it was a computer in that box so I fibbed a little. Put this under the filing of Things We Do To Save Money when we get older :)

Computer Saga Continued

I called the customer service people about the computer they sent me that does not work. The lady was very apologetic for both the missing monitor and the malfunctioning computer. Made it very nice, I didn't have to get all grumpy or anything.
I need to find a way to the UPS place and ship it off next. That will cost me about $20 which is okay I guess. Rather not pay it but what else can I do?
Once they get the computer back they will, according to the young lady, send me another computer AND the missing monitor. So, all should be well, I hope!
I am not fond of dealing with customer support people, especially over the phone or in person. Email is better as I can be as mean as I want to be LOL
Will update on this mess when it is all solved.

Muscle Building

It seems like the more society progresses the farther behind in time it goes. We have tons of technology to get us through the mundane task of living day to day yet the streets are not safe. You could always use your cell phone to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency if the thugs give you that chance. Perhaps this explains the recent boost in advertisements for self-defense and getting yourself into better shape.
But, like anything else on the market one needs to know what is the best thing to do and to take to assist you in this muscling up process. If you are going to build muscle you will, if you are like most people, want fast results. But how does one find these products that will grant you quick results without wasting hours and hours of time doing the research?
BuildMuscleFast. org has done all of the hard work for you. They have studied hundreds of ways to build muscle fast and they based their findings on several important criteria:
1. Muscle Building Potential
2. Efficiency
3. Customer Reviews
4. Reorder Rate
5. Side Effects
6. Overall Value
Look at the products they have reviewed and find one that fits your needs to help you along with your exercising plan. Of course you should also discuss these things with your doctor. Your doctor knows more about your body and basic physical and mental health than you do and can help you make the right choices.
When I was younger the ads I saw said things like use Charles Atlas's program and never let a bully kick sand in your face again. These days the ads talk about defending yourself for survival. You need to get into shape and build up your muscles to do that. So, think about it seriously. Get into an exercise plan and take a supplement to assist you with this muscle building. And it wouldn't hurt to take a few self-defense classes either.

What A Bad Day

I got up around 9 a.m. so that I could wait for the UPS man to bring me the computer and monitor I ordered for Shelly. That was my first problem.
By almost 2 p.m. the UPS man had not been here so i re-checked the website to find out that, once again, they could not find my house. So, I called UPS to give them specific instructions on how to find the house. Was tempted, but did not say, try getting out of the truck! A little while later I got an email saying they would deliver it on Monday. So, I went back to bed to take a nap.
I was awakened after about half an hour by UPS local telling me they would try to deliver the package today between 5 and 7 p.m. I said okay and had just started to sleep nicely when the dogs all went crazy and I had to get up. Lo and behold, a UPS man! I got the package.
I opened the box to find that there was NO monitor! Back to this computer I came and sent off an email to Customer Support telling them they forgot the monitor. Grr.
I hook up the new computer to see how it looks. The damned thing does not work! I will have to ship it back to Arizona for them to either replace it or refund my money. I am not a happy camper at the moment.
What seemed like such a great deal has now turned into a major headache for me. I have to pay the cost of shipping it back. I also have to find someone to take me to the UPS office so I can send it back.
Not a good day at all. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

P90X

Perhaps it is because we, Americans at least, are a flabby bunch of folks that the diet and exercise industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. We eat way too much, eat the wrong things and are generally obese. We lack exercise, real exercise, not just walking from the television set to the kitchen for your latest snack, real, honest to goodness physical exercise!
I see many ads on television and the internet for exercising equipment. They all tell you that you can have the body you want with their product. Heck, some of them even want you to get your exercise while you are watching t.v. which seems silly to me because I know that most people will pay more attention to the t.v. than the exercise equipment they are on. But I guess it is the current "in" thing. My daughter goes to a gym and they have television sets everywhere.
Now there is a new system that seems to be gaining in popularity called the p90x or Power 90 Extreme. The P90X is a home exercise system developed by Tony Horton in conjunction with Beachbody and director Mason Bendewald. It claims to improve physical fitness in 90 days through a rigorous segmented training program combined with a nutrition and dietary supplement plan.
The idea is to not always do the same exercises in the same order. This, they say, prevents the body from getting used to the routine. While this may be true I would think it is more beneficial in that the body and mind do not get bored by the same daily routine. Face it, exercise can be dull and monotonous.
If you are one of those interested in this new exercise and weight loss plan I urge you to read the blog I linked to before. It is an honest review of the P90X and the plan as a whole. It lists problems associated with the P90X and how to deal with these problems by at least being aware that they exist.
Every exercise and/or diet plan will generate individual results. There is no magic cure-all. What you get out of these types of plans is what you put into them. If you work hard to succeed, you will get good results. If you put very little effort into it you probably won't see any results at all. It is all up to you.

Accident?

I took a leap of faith when I bought the new computer for Shelly. It said it came with a monitor but they did not answer my email in time so I had to take a chance.
The next day I got an email from someone in their Customer Service Department:

Hello, thank you for your interest in our products. Yes, it does come with the 15" monitor. I even double checked on the auction itself and confirmed that it does.

I have saved the email and everything else that I could, just in case. PayPal offered Buyers Protection on this item which is why I took the leap of faith to begin with.

This afternoon I went to look at the item from my Ebay page and they have re-listed the computer, without a monitor.

Interesting! Wonder if they realized that someone messed up with the first listing? perhaps they should be happy that of the five they listed they only sold one. I anxiously await this package :)

No Sleep

I moderate a chat room on a game site as my loyal readers know. I have the shift from 9 p.m. to midnight Pacific Time. A large percentage of the players are on the Eastern side of the country as well as many foreign players with much different time zones. One of the things I have noticed about a lot of these players is that they say goodnight in the chat lobby but are back a short while later saying that they cannot sleep.
Most adults have experienced insomnia or sleeplessness at one time or another in their lives. An estimated 30%-50% of the general population are affected by insomnia, and 10% have chronic insomnia. So, given the statistics, I should not be surprised that so many of our game players suffer from it. But I also wonder why these players do not get a cure for their sleeplessness. How difficult is it to talk to someone about an insomnia treatment?
If I could not sleep on a regular basis I would certainly be asking my doctor for help. At the very least I would be scouring the internet for a solution. Of course this would take hours and hours and I would, like my players, be distracted by other things like playing games.
But, all is not hopeless! There is a place where you can go to find helpful information that you can use to get yourself some much needed sleep. The products that they review on their site on non Rx meaning no prescription is necessary, meaning you won't have to talk to a doctor if you do not wish to do so.
Take a few moments to check out the website, find a product that is right for your needs and get ready to enjoy some decent sleep for a change. A good nights sleep will make you a much healthier person in the long run.

For My Girls

Finally found another bargain on Ebay so that I could get my wife (and I'm sure my daughter) her own computer. She still refuses to use this one. Here is what I got her:

Now the description says it comes with a 15 inch monitor so I hope that is true! Computer is no good without a monitor LOL
It ships from Arizona so it shouldn't take that long to get here. Depends on whether or not UPS can find my house this time.
It should make my wife happy. Once I set up a few things on it like the wireless system it should be good to go and hers :)

Stunned

I no longer drive as I have no car and no way to buy another on my fixed income which means that travel for my household is either by bus, taxi or foot. Occasionally the two females that live with me go out at night. Even though this area isn't as dangerous as some I still worry about their safety.
I found this website that deals in stun guns. I kind of like the idea that they could pull one of these out of their purse and totally be in control of a bad situation. Thankfully I live in California where the sales of such stun guns are allowed.
Check out this one:

It is called Runt and it sells for the nice price of under forty dollars. Nice price for something that delivers up to 350,000 volts! That will stop anyone in their tracks, I'm sure. And it's certain to deliver peace of mind to me at home as well as to the two females as they travel around the neighborhood or walk home late from the movie theater.
If conditions in your area have changed and you have any concerns about your personal safety, you owe it to yourself to check these things out. You cannot put a price on safety. I must inform you however that the website will not sell or ship to the following states: Hawaii, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.
Take a gander at the goods they offer. You and your loved ones are worth it.
