Cover Up

No, I'm not talking about some political conspiracy here although I'm sure there are lots of them to talk about. I'm talking about floors.
Last weekend my son came down from Washington with his wife and kids on a vacation for Spring Break. Since they were visiting so close they wanted to drive up where I am to visit his uncle, his mother and me. It's always nice to see your kids, especially since all of mine live so far away from me.
My house is not the best kept house on the block, I'm not as bad as those people you see on the show about hoarders, but I do have lots of stuff. The worst of it is the floors. We have a small dog and he sometimes makes a mess and, even though it's cleaned up right away it does sometimes leave a stain. We have the carpet cleaned with a steam cleaner regularly but it wasn't down before my son's visit.
It would have been nice to have a few large rugs to cover up the spots.
I'm looking at these rugs and wondering if they might be easier to clean than the regular carpet. That plus the fact that they would certainly be nicer to look at than the plain brown carpet that's in my house right now.
If you have some flooring or carpet that has seen some wear and tear or is just plain not worth looking at anymore, consider looking into a new rug or two. They come in many designs so you're sure to find one you like. They also come in various sizes so you can find the ones that will fit your spaces.
Don't be caught with ugly floors if family comes to visit you!

Messed Up

It would appear as though I am spending way too much time on this computer. yes, I am trying hard to make a buck here and there but I also spend a lot of time on Facebook playing games and what not. It is beginning to have an adverse effect on my home life and it will have to be fixed and quickly.
So, I'm thinking that I'm going to just do my dailies, set my Cafe World and Farmville up so that they are only needed to be looked at once a day and give the computer back to the females in the house.
In the meantime I will go back to fixing the other computer so maybe I can go online with it and then everyone should be happier.
At least I hope so.

Whiter And Brighter

Go look in a mirror. Now smile. Are your teeth white and bright? Does the way your teeth look make you want to smile or hide? A bright smile can do wonders, whether its giving you confidence in a job interview or meeting an attractive member of the opposite gender. Everyone likes a great smile!
If your teeth are not as white and bright as you would like them to be perhaps it's time to do something about it, like visiting a Plano cosmetic dentist. Consider how teeth whitening, straightening, restoring a chip or crack, rejuvenating worn teeth, or replacing a missing tooth can enhance your appearance and increase your confidence.
Just think of all the nice compliments a bright smile will get you. And, think about this too. A great smile is infectious. If you're smiling and looking happy others around you will be smiling and happy looking too. Who wants to be surrounded by unhappy looking people? Not me and most likely not you either.
So, there you are, checking out your reflection in the mirror. If your smile doesn't look the ones in this picture below then it is definitely time to do something about it. It's never too late to have a great looking smile!

Family

Had a great day yesterday. One of my sons is visiting Southern California with his wife and two kids and stopped in my neck of the woods to see me and his uncle before heading north to see his mother.
It's always nice to see your kids after they have grown up and moved away. So much better than just talking to them either online or by telephone :)
Nice too to see the grandkids, something I just don't get enough opportunity to do since I live so far away from them. Interesting to see how they have grown and changed as they get another year or two older.
I'm glad they came and I am happy they came in the Spring when the desert is not yet blazing hot. Since they live in Washington state I don't think any of his family would like the heat all that much. Come to think of it, HE doesn't care all that much for the heat of the desert in the summer LOL
So the weekend started with pleasantness and I hope that today will be a good day as well :)

Top 5 Weight Loss Supplements

Yep, here we go again, on the topic of overweight people. There are so many of you that I must continue to write about it hoping that my readers will pay attention and get thinner and healthier.
Losing weight is a long process for most people. The hardest part is that first step where you look at yourself honestly and decide that you'd really like to be thinner and healthier. Without that honesty no other steps taken will accomplish much, if anything. Think of it as quitting any addiction, that first, honest step is the whole key to success. You have to really want something badly to accomplish it.
There are so many products on the market that claim you will lose weight quickly and easily. Many of them are pure bunk and will only succeed in making your wallet thinner. Some of them are said to be dangerous to your health! What good is losing weight if it makes you unhealthy?
Most people these days live a very busy lifestyle and work hard just to balance work or school and any sort of social life. They simply do not have time to do enough good research into much of anything let alone a weight loss supplement. But, fear not, dear reader as I have come across a website that has done the research for you, making it simpler and certainly much faster for you and your hectic lifestyle.
Before you run and buy any of these products though I advise you to talk to your doctor about the one(s) you think is the best for you. They know your body better than you do and will ensure that the decision is a healthy choice for your body. Weight loss supplements are not a one size fits all type of thing.
So, take the first step and honestly tell yourself you want to be thinner and healthier. Then take the second step and choose a supplement that you and your doctor believe will work best for you. Then continue taking steps, one at a time until you reach your goal. Good luck!

Some Days

Some days are better spent in the warmth and comfort of bed. Today is one of those days I fear. My body aches and my joints are as stiff as they can be without causing actual damage when I move them.
I had plans for today, helping with some cleaning up around the house as we prepare for a brief visit from my son Pat and his family. And, of course, I have assignments to write. This will have to wait.
Whenever you hear someone older tell you that arthritis and osteoporosis can be crippling, believe them.
Some days are better spent in bed...

Fatso!

I've been called a lot of things in my life, some of them unprintable, but I have never been called Fatso. I'm one of the "lucky" ones. I can eat whatever I like, as much as I like, whenever I like and never gain a pound. I haven't been fat since I was a baby. Unfortunately, most people are not like me, they are overweight and, maybe not within earshot, many are called fatso by their friends or co-workers.
If you fall into the fatso category then it's time you did something about it. Time to go in search of the best fat loss supplements on the market and pick the one that will work best for you.
There are many products out there that make big claims and promises. Some deliver on them, many do not. You really have to do your homework and study all these things before you decide to go with them.
Like any other diet plan you also need to discuss this with your family doctor. They know your body a lot better than you do and can help you with your decision to lose that weight. You don't want anything that will make you lose weight while at the same time give you other health issues.
So, browse through the site I linked to. Carefully read all the information they've gathered (saving you a lot of time) and decide which one looks the most promising. Remember that there is never a guarantee that something will work for you. Weight loss and fat loss supplements are never one size fits all. Results will always vary from person to person because each of us is unique. That's a good thing, by the way.
I wish you the best of luck in losing weight. I'm the only skinny person in my family and always have been. I understand your struggles more than you realize having watched all my family members try one diet after another without much success, especially my mother. It's a shame that all these excellent fat loss supplements were not available in her lifetime. She would have been a very happy skinny woman.
So, get on with your weight loss and get yourself slimmer and healthier. And, if you see me on the street somewhere feel free to call me skinny. I won't take offense.

Health Care Reform

Congress and the Senate passed it and Americans everywhere seemed to be upset with it. I have no clue as to why they are upset but they are.
Many countries have what Americans consider socialized medicine. Canada has it, so does England. The people there complain about it but they are never talking about how they would be better off without it.
I have no insurance at all now that I am retired. I cannot afford any. I cannot get Medicare or Medi-Cal because I am too young for one and too old for the other. So, if I get ill I am out of luck. I cannot afford insurance premiums every month nor can I afford an out of pocket doctor/hospital visit. Basically I am up the creek without a paddle.
So I am looking forward to seeing just what this new health care reform bill can do for people like me. And I think it has been long overdue in coming. I remember in the 1960's people were discussing the possibilities of some sort of socialized medicine. That was almost fifty years ago.
So, let Americans grumble about it. That is their right, to complain. I wonder why they are complaining is all.

Old And Wrinkly

I am old and wrinkled, I admit it. But, I do not really care. Because I am older I don't care I suppose because I grew up in an era where men got old and wrinkly and it was called "character". Women worried about wrinkles, men just didn't care.
But, times have changed and both genders these days seem very concerned about those wrinkles and gray hairs. Every new line of their faces causes stress. So they go looking for solutions like anti wrinkle face cream.
Which one will work best for your face? Will it remove the wrinkles or will it just cover them up? These factors are important when you're considering such creams. Will they do more damage to your skin by clogging up the pores? What about price? Are they effective and cost a reasonable amount of money? So many questions, where do you go to find the answers? You know where, click the link I provided above and find some solutions to your wrinkles.
It's a shame, to me at least, that people are getting more and more self conscious about their looks. I rather enjoyed looking at people with "weathered" faces, knowing that they actually did something in their lives and it left wrinkles and laugh lines behind as a memory.
But, people change as society changes. We are more modern these days. We live in an age of gender bending and computers that you can carry around in your pocket. People of all ages want to feel and look, younger. If you are one of these people then you should check out the anti-wrinkle creams available. Look as young as you feel.

Spring Break

It's time for Spring Break. I know this not because the weather has turned nicer than Winter but because people are traveling.
My granddaughter is on the beach of Southern California frolicking (do kids still do that?) with some of her friends. they drove down here from Oregon to have fun at our beaches instead of staying home. I don't blame them, I've seen the beach in Oregon and there is no comparison.
One of my sons is coming to Los Angeles in a few days with his family. They'll probably go to Disneyland with the kids and that will be great for the kids :) They also plan on driving north to visit me and my new family as well as going even farther north to visit with his mother. She'll be ecstatic to see them I can guarantee that. So will I. I do talk to my kids from time to time electronically, telephone and internet, but it isn't the same as seeing them and hugging them.
So, if the chance arrives, you should travel too. If I could afford it, I would :)

Quick Weight Loss

Yep, it's that time again. Time for me to write about weight loss. It's almost 80 degrees outside my window telling me that Spring, and less clothing, is right around the corner. Time to shed the Winter coats and start wearing comfortable, lighter clothes. Are you ready?
In the Winter, under your heavy coats and jackets, it's easy to not think about your weight. You look fat in that coat? It isn't you, it's the coat! But with warmer weather coming soon what will you be saying? You can't blame the "I look fat" look on a shirt and pants or a dress. It has to be you that needs some attention.
But, you need to see which weight loss products are right for you. And you need to consider all the possibilities of quick weight loss diets.
You're a busy person, always hustling and bustling, no time to slow down? Well, what about a site that has nothing but reviews of weight loss diets and their products? Something you can read all in one place without having to search through all the sites listed on your favorite search engine, doesn't that make sense? Of course it does.
Check out any or all of the reviews on the site. Pick the one that you think is the right one for you. Then take that information and visit your family doctor. No one should jump into any diet plan without medical advice. What if the product is not beneficial to you? Your doctor knows your body and whatever may be ailing it so talk to him or her first. There's nothing good about being thinner if you're not healthy too!
Start a diet plan and soon you'll not only feel better about changing your wardrobe for lighter clothing, you'll look much better too.

Hot Tub Time Machine

This looks like a wild and crazy movie, one even I wouldn't mind watching. I like comedies but lately Hollywood has produced more junk than it's worth, especially at the high cost of going to a movie theater :(

Check out the trailer and see for yourself.

Promote Yourself

So you have a business online and you want to get as many people as possible to enjoy your site and buy your product. You've worked hard to get yourself into search engines and such. You should be satisfied but you still want more visitors, the more the merrier. But you are missing out on something. Yes, the internet is a boon to business but some of the "old" ways are still best as far as advertising goes.
Say you're out somewhere in town. You meet someone and have a conversation about business. You'd like this person to go and visit your online business but giving them a long URL might not be all that handy a thing. You write it down on a piece of paper and hope that they'll remember it later. Maybe it works, maybe they lose the piece of paper and you lost a potential customer. Not a good thing.
Now imagine that same scenario. Instead of a scrap of paper you hand that potential customer a smartly designed business card. Easily fits in their wallet or their shirt pocket. Easy to find later! Your odds of having that potential customer come visit your website have now increased dramatically.
The internet is a great thing, but sometimes old fashioned ideas are still the best. But, where do you go for business card printing? Online, of course. Print Direct For Less has business cards, door hangers, posters, even scratch offs. How about mailing lists and postcards? They have those too. All sorts of items that a business can use to reach customers without the internet. Remember business life before the internet?
We all get mailers, every day it seems. Junk mail we call it. But, think about how often you actually look at that "junk". I look at mine because you never know what the ad is for. Maybe it's something I'm in need of. I especially look at postal sized cards because they are almost always something special.
Think about this. I've just received your business postal card in the mail. I look at it because I like those kinds of advertising. I like what I see so I go to visit your website. I purchase your product. You made a customer that you normally might not have ever gotten because I didn't go searching for your product on a search engine. I'm happy, you're happy. That's great business.
So, get yourself some good old fashioned tools for your business and make more money. That is why people go into business, to make money. Don't lose any opportunity for a customer no matter what your level of new age thinking may be.

WHY??

In the beginning, in an effort to assist farmers somehow, Daylight Savings time made some sense. But why do we still use it? With all the modernization of farming machines and techniques, do they still need an extra hour of daylight?
I have to admit that the whole thing has never made any sense to me. I always thought that farmers worked from sun up to sun down anyway so why did they care what time the clock said it was? And, if you were working your tail off out in the fields would you really want to do it for another hour? What id your boss held a meeting and told you that (same pay) you were now going to work nine hours per day instead of eight? Would you be thrilled or would you be looking for another job somewhere?
I don't like changing the time, never have, never will. It's just me, I don't care when the sun shines longer or shorter. As long as the sun shines, I'm happy.
I guess the only good thing about the time change is that it lets me know that a season is soon to end. In this case, the season being Winter, this makes me very happy. I like Winter less than I like Daylight Savings time changes.

Hip Hop

It is almost Easter and, as usual, my brain occasionally recalls the Peter Cottontail song. "here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail, hippity hoppity, Easter's on it's way". Hip hop, that's what a bunny does, my childhood memories tell me so. But not these days.
Today hip hop is a whole new thing, music mostly, but it's also part of a fashion statement. For the fashion conscious it's referred to as urban clothing. Clothing that makes a statement, clothing that you can wear to go clubbing or just down the street. Clothing that shows you are with it, hip, cool, whatever people call things these days. The ;last I heard it was bad, then rad, then back to bad. I can't keep up with all the slang, my poor tired brain still likes groovy and far out.
Jimmy Jazz (sounds like a DJ) has urban clothing that will get you noticed from head to toe, from hoodies to great looking stylish tennis shoes (excuse me, sneakers) or boots. From Baby Phat to Zana Di you are bound to find the outfit that you're looking for to look your best in this urban world we live in.
Whether you are into leather jackets or Air Jordans or something a little more subtle like a purse, this site has it covered.
You don't think music has invaded the urban wear set? Check out the great designs of DEREON. Founded by pop sensation and actress Beyonce Knowles and her mom Tina in 2006, Dereon is a tribute to Beyonce's grandmother, Agnez Deréon's daring style and bold attitude. The clothing line was inspired by the success of Tina Knowles' fashion creations worn by the R&B group Destiny's Child during public appearances and in music videos. Prior to the launching of the line, many of Tina's creations were seen on the red carpet, worn by Beyonce and the other members of Destiny's Child. Deréon's designs are in line with the hip-hop and urban culture but also have an Asian flair. Deréon clothing is a collection of "affordable couture", figure-flattering jeans, tops, jackets and more. Deréon - Where the sidewalk and catwalk meet! I checked out those designs and, man oh man, they are figure flattering alright! I would certainly turn my head to check out a woman in those clothes!
So check out the site and get in the groove, clothing wise. Don't be an old fuddy duddy, be hip, be fashionable, be seen!

Ah, Spring

It's finally Spring. Okay, not on the calendar but for baseball. Spring Training has started and the players, like the fans, are happy to get back into the game.
I was just surfing through the channels hoping to catch the Angels game but, alas, it wasn't there. Instead I watched a show about Old Time baseball, Baseball's Golden Age. This is a great show! They have all these clips from old home movies, many of them taken by the ball players. What a collection!
The part of this show that really got to me was about the All Star game. This was a true joy when I was a kid as you got to see the players that normally you'd never see because they didn't play in your league or their team never made it to the World Series. Guys that you secretly rooted for. For me that would be guys like the great Mickey Mantle of the dreaded New York Yankees. Players that you knew were great even if they played for teams you didn't like.
The other nice thing about the game back then was that you took great pride when one of your team members was there. I, like any Pirates fan, knew Roberto Clemente was fantastic. Imagine the sell of pride to see him at an All Star game. There he was, hanging out with other greats like Willie Mays and Hank Aaron. What a combination of talent!
It's kind of funny to look at things back then. Players actually played the entire game then. They weren't there just for an inning or two only to be replaced by someone else the way they are today. They were there to play and to compete. Foremost of all they were there to win! The game was important to them. Sure, the players today all say they are proud to be there, heck, who wouldn't be happy to be recognized by the fans? But, somehow, it just isn't the same.
It is time for Spring Training, so get out your mitt. Sit at home and watch your favorite team get ready for the season and cheer them on. Watch with excitement as they use some of the "kids" who won't make the roster this year but surely will make it to the Bigs sometime soon. And if the team isn't on today, try to catch up with a great show like Baseball's Golden Age. it's on Fox Sports network. I hope they show it wherever you live.
Now, pass me some popcorn and soda.

I Would Love This Ride

This truck is FAST!

A Dream Car

When I was a very young boy and the men would get together to talk about cars there were several that they would get a dreamy look in their eyes for. One was the '56 T-Bird, one was a Corvette Stingray. But the one that really seemed to make their eyes get all glassy was a Ferrari.
As I grew older and got interested in cars myself I could begin to understand. I'd give my eye tooth for the Stingray but I'd give you my whole set of teeth for a Ferrari! Just typing the name gets me all dreamy eyed. Who wouldn't want a fast sporty car like a Ferrari?
But, as I ponder the delights of owning such a wonderful dream car reality also sets in. Even the greatest cars in the world like Ferrari have to eventually break down and need something repaired. But where does one go to find the right Ferrari parts?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most people that own a Ferrari take great pride in that ownership and will also take great pleasure on doing things to the car themselves rather than just take it to the local mechanic. So not only do you need the right parts for your Ferrari you also need to know exactly how to repair the car. This site has the right parts and it has diagrams that can assist you in your repair job. This is a genuine plus. Having worked on a few cars myself there is nothing more frustrating than going to an auto parts store, getting the right part you need and then verbal instructions that only a true mechanic would understand. Diagrams that you can print out and actually look at? Now, that's the right way to go!
If you are one of the lucky people that own a Ferrari then you really should check out this site and see all the options they have and the diagrams that go with them. And, be sure to enjoy your car. Remember you are driving what for most of us is a dream car.

What A Pain

I woke up today to find the two females in my house having a serious disagreement. Lots of crying and some screaming, the usual. The disagreement was about money, a commodity that this household has a minimal supply of.
I have to say, two females arguing is as bad as a husband and wife arguing, sometimes it's even worse. I do not like arguing :(

I finished in a tie for second place in a league that I joined online playing games. There was supposed to be some reward forthcoming but it hasn't shown up yet. And the next round, played Monday through Sunday hasn't shown up either. I hope whatever the glitch in the system is they get it repaired soon. I had a lot of fun playing that league and I'd like to do it again :)

In the meantime I shall fill my hours trying my best to earn some extra dollars online with PTC sites and the occasional writing assignment. I hope all of you have a great day :)

Stone That Bathroom

Now is a great time to think about remodeling your bathroom. The weather is slowly turning nicer, thank goodness. Time to think about Spring cleaning and fixing up the house after a long Winter. And what better place to start than with the bathroom sink?
stone sinks not only will improve the looks of your bathroom they are actually pieces of artwork. Wouldn't it be nice to stand there and look at a unique design of stone while shaving or washing up before dinner? Don't you get tired of looking at plain white every day? I know that I do.
I rather fancy this beautiful marble sink myself:

Now admit it, that sink beats anything white and ceramic. What a pleasure to see a sink like that in a bathroom.
Of course there is one slight problem with updating your bathroom sink with something that looks that good. It won't be long before the bath tub and it's plain white self will have to go too. But, don't fret. the same site that has the stone sinks also has a selection of unusual bath tubs.
Start remodeling!

No Gambling!

While it may seem like I am advocating gambling in this blog, I really am not. I do play poker online, but it is more for fun than anything else. Yes, I have suggested a time or two that you all should come and join me at a site that plays poker, but it isn't really for gambling as much as it is for fun with friends.
Seems like we all do gamble though, whether it is playing the lottery or buying a raffle ticket at church. Heck, Life itself is a gamble. You never know what today will bring, sickness or accidents. If you make it through the day then you should be thankful that tomorrow gives you another opportunity :)
I am grateful every day that I wake up. I'm getting old and my body is more than happy to remind me that it is not in the best of shape. Some days it seems like all I can do to get out of bed and try to work the kinks out. My first cup of coffee is almost always spent in front of the heater trying to warm up stiff joints.
I spend my days on this computer, working here and there, trying to make a few extra dollars, be it from pay you to click type sites or writing assignments. Retirement pay is not what I had hoped it would be and every dollar earned online is a true Godsend. Why would I risk any of that money with gambling?
I do enjoy sitting at a poker table and playing cards. I've made a lot of online friends on that poker site and most of them are like me, old retired folks just looking to have some fun in the course of a day.
Unless you are one of the extremely lucky people that win the lottery gambling is not going to make you wealthy. If you play for fun and you have fun, that's the important part.
As for me I shall leave the gambling and the poker playing for lots of money to the pros. They spend a lot of time working on their game and it is their job to play cards. For me it is simply a way to pass the time.
