Happy Females

I survived another Christmas :) Hope everyone got lots of goodies and is in good health. I got my two ladies something that they wanted for Christmas so I am Da Man lol I got my lovely wife the DVD of Game of Thrones which she has been wanting for a while now. She really likes that show and she drools over one of the actors in it so when she saw what her gift was she was ecstatic :) I got my daughter this set:

When she opened the box and started clearing away the Styrofoam protection and saw the doll box she looked up and said "Seriously?". When I said, "Yes, seriously" she took the doll set out of the box and just stared at it. In all the years she has been with me I have never seen her speechless until then lol So, Christmas has come and gone, now onward to survive New Years :) Stay safe, people!

Christmas Time

It looked like Christmas was going to be a little on the bleak side this year. Money that had been coming in didn't for December. Ugh. My wife and I agreed, pay the bills first then worry about the gift part. there is only 3 of us to worry about anyway and all of us are adults, although I was pretty sure the twenty-one year old would be sorely disappointed. Thanks to this blog and a few PTC sites I use daily, I managed to make up the money for the months bills with a few dollars to spare. My wife's money did arrive after all and with me paying the bills that were left things look much brighter. The girls are going shopping tomorrow and will, I'm certain, have way too much fun and spend way too much money lol For me, I am happy. I got a roof over my head, food for the body, heat and power and internet. I am all set :) I do need to do some shopping though and I will try to get that done ASAP since I do it all online...

Laboratory Ovens

When I worked at the college we had a variety of labs for the students to work in, from anatomy and biology to chemistry and physics. Too intellectual for this custodian's brain cells but I did clean those labs and always was looking around at the equipment they all used and the projects people were working on. I give credit where credit is due, most of those students were very smart people and I can only hope that, once they finished college, they went on to be great scientific minds. The one thing I noticed is that all of those different labs had one piece of equipment in common, they all used some form of laboratory ovens. I have no doubt that these ovens were required, I suppose that lots of lab creations need to be cooked in some fashion or another so you need an oven or, in some cases, a hot plate. Always made me chuckle to find the hot plates sitting on a counter with a teacher's coffee cup still sitting there. Guess lab work isn't the only thing in a lab that needs heat! I applaud anyone, student or teacher or even an individual that does lab work. I recall that once a ventriloquist created an artificial heart that worked so you never truly know where something wonderful is going to be created. Maybe one day someone just being creative at home will find a cure for cancer or even the common cold. That would be fantastic! If you like to dabble in laboratory work, you need an oven, so please go check out the fine ovens and hotplates and furnaces. Who knows, maybe the next great creator will be you.

Part Of The Job

We have new Mods on the game site and they are learning some things the hard way. They are doing a great job though and the other Mods are quick to relate that to them which is always nice. One of the things Mods seem to always learn the hard way is the lack of friendship all of a sudden. Players they normally have been chatty with suddenly seem cold and distant. Part of the job. When you are just a regular player like them it's all fun and good times. Once you become a Mod tho, the fun and games stops because they realize that now you will enforce the chat rules and boot them. It is hard at times to boot someone you like or are buddies with. Sometimes the players make it easy, like when I was still a fairly new Mod. One of the players on my friends list was skirting the rules line when another player warned her to be careful because she may get booted. Her reply was that it wouldn't happen because she and the Mod were friends. That's when I booted her for 3 hours. Friends or not, the rules must be followed by all and the Mods must enforce those rules. Part of the job :)

Cell phone users are a strange breed... Trick Or Treat

Amazing, simply amazing... My daughter who lives in some sort of fantasy world of high fashion and wealth decided that, even though she has reached the age of twenty-one, it would be perfectly alright to go out on Halloween and go trick or treating. Amazingly she came back with candy. Guess the people she went to visit either didn't care she was a grown up or they felt sorry for the fact that a grown up was knocking on their door looking for candy. Sigh...will she ever grow up???

Congrats, Andrew McCutchen

Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen put up MVP-caliber numbers offensively this season, but on Tuesday night it was his defensive prowess that earned him his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award. McCutchen made just one error this season and finished second among National League center fielders with a .997 fielding percentage. Only the Cardinals' Jon Jay, who had a perfect percentage -- but played 40 less games than McCutchen -- had a better mark. The Pirates' center fielder edged out two other nominees -- Cincinnati's Drew Stubbs and Atlanta's two-time Gold Glove winner Michael Bourn -- for the honor. The Gold Glove Awards are decided annually by voting among managers and coaches, none of whom can vote for their own players. "Honored to have won the Gold Glove! To be a part of this elite class of defenders means so much to me. Hard work is paying off!" McCutchen tweeted after the awards were announced Tuesday night. With the award, McCutchen becomes the Pirates' seventh Gold Glove outfielder in franchise history and the first since Nate McLouth in 2008. Ya gotta love it...this team is beginning to shape up and, although they faded down the stretch at the end, they were in the stretch at the end! WTG, Pirates! Next year for sure :)

Meds and Weather

If it isn't one thing kicking me around it is another these days. Either the medicines the doctor gives me or the drastic weather changes in the desert. First it was the meds, some very strong antibiotic that kicked me in the rear end and hasn't let go since. My head and sinuses came loose with that med and I am now all plugged up and funny sounding on the inside. If I scratch my head I can actually hear my hand scratching. It is very odd to say the least. Then the weather shifted on me. One day was nice and hot then *bam* couple days where I was grabbing clothing to put on because it was cold as can be. Now it is hot again. My poor body has no clue what to do with itself anymore. God, I hate having gotten this darned old...

Smart Phone?

As usual, whenever I am trying to get something accomplished, the telephone rang. I checked the caller ID and as usual I have no clue who it is. Just a bunch of numbers and symbols all strung together. It's a machine calling me, oh joy! lol What someone needs to invent is a new machine, turning house phones into smart phones that can answer for folks that don't wish to answer. "Hello machine at work, this is the machine at the home you are calling. Let's talk". Work: "Talk? Talk about what?" Home:"Let's just talk about anything, give the person that plugged you in some excitement thinking that real people are paying attention to whatever it is they are trying to sell" Work: "Oh, hey, that's a great idea! Humans are not all that bright you know" Home:"Yes, I know, and they would be totally lost without us machines to run their little world" The convo could go on for a short while, say five or ten minutes leaving the person at work to think he is making a great sales pitch with his machine. It also would eat up a lot of time so that this telemarketer could not call that many people thus making others happy when their telephone does not ring at the most inopportune times. Now that, dear friends, would be a smart phone!

Marathon Electric Motors

When I first saw this I thought it was a brand new car company cashing in on the latest and smart trend of electric cars to save the environment as well as money from buying gasoline ( Up around $6 a gallon in Los Angeles). But it has nothing to do with cars at all. It is a great name though, Marathon. As most people know, a marathon is a very long race, usually miles. Takes a long time to complete and if you can accomplish getting to the finish line you can be very proud of yourself. Marathon, long, long running. It truly fits these marathon electric motors. Electric motors can be troublesome and often need to be replaced quicker than one would like. That's why you need a motor made by a company that has been around a long time like this one. This company has been around since 1913, just shy of one hundred years! That's a marathon in itself. Another Bad Week

This is like the third week in a row I have been sicker than normal. Not a good sign of the future there :( Too much coughing, way too much spitting up phlegm and even more mucus coming out by the constant blowing of my nose. Gee and I don't even have a cold or the flu. Ugh! I am trying hard to get back into some sort of pattern with my days but frankly I just have been too lethargic to care about much of anything. All I wanna do is just sit and stare off into space while playing games on Facebook or over on the game site of NPP. I really need to snap out of this...

Cough

Have spent the better part of the last three days coughing my fool head off :( Almost went to the ER twice but changed my mind. Hate to have them tend to me and send me home. No oxygen and no car? No thanks! Rather stay at home and cough...

Memories Of Days Past

Spent a lot of time today looking through old high school pictures online from my high school. yep, I actually found mine! Scary picture there. So of course I had to go looking for people I knew, like my ex and my kids and friends that popped into my head as I surfed. I like things that remind me of the past, I always have. It isn't just because I am old. Then I found this website that at first reading things definitely made me think of days long past. This company has been around since 1875! That makes then 125 years older than me, so that's pretty darned impressive. Google?

I got this incredibly silly email this morning: Hello Site Owner/Webmaster, It has recently come to our attention that our website http://logfurnitureplace.com has been penalized by Google for "Unnatural Link Building". In an effort to reduce the penalty, and prevent any penalties from occurring to your website, we are requesting that you remove all links pointed to http://logfurnitureplace.com as soon as possible. This did not come from Google, not that it would matter. Frankly I do not care what Google does or does not do, I use it as a search engine most of the time and it does that job well enough. As far as Google being able to tell me what I can post in my blog or not that's a whole different story. To that I say Stuff it, Google! This is my blog and I put in it whatever I wish. Don't like it, don't read it. Want to change my Google rank? Who cares? I don't even know what my Google rank is. I did, when I first started blogging, run here and there to see who ranked me what. But then it took valuable time away from me so I quit chasing the rank and just write my blogs instead :) Google thinks it is like Microsoft or something lol Both companies have gotten way to big for their britches it seems...

Navy Shirts

Somewhere, perhaps everywhere, there is a group called blue falcon. Doing a search engine search shows that Blue Falcon has a lot of different items from cartoon characters to video game carts to soldiers. Since the website says Navy Shirts and is called Ranger Up I am fairly certain the shirts here have nothing to do with Mario or cartoons. Blue Falcon as far as military things go appears to be not very nice, a soldier that passes along his duties to another soldier, screwing that soldier over. In my younger days I believe that term was a goldbrick. Times change and so do soldiers I guess. The shirts on sale here are very nice looking shirts though, shirts that any man, soldier or not, would appreciate wearing. This, for instance, is the Blue Falcon shirt:

Beaten Down

If it isn't the weather beating me up it is something else, like my COPD. Lately I just feel physically drained. I get more than enough sleep so it isn't that. I really do not know what is going on here but it can stop any time now. The older I get the less I like getting old :(

I have no doubt that we all have, at one point or another while surfing the web, seen those ads that say click here for an iphone. They run you through tons of hoops, doing offers and giving away all your credit cards and such and in the end I am sure you spend more money than the product is actually worth just to get it "free". Better to just go to a website that sells the IPhones at a reasonable price and buy one. That's where The Source comes into play. No Printer

The tablet I bought my wife for her birthday refuses to work. So, I am in a quandry here. I go to the website and it gives me simple instructions for returning the item to a walmart store. Only one slight hitch. To return it to a store I need only to print out a return slip. I have no printer :( I emailed walmart support to ask them now what can I do. I am waiting for their respionse. Ugh

Zoom

I got up this morning and did my daily PTC work and a few other things like check my emails. Same thing I do every morning. Today was different though. I did not procrastinate, although it was tough, I did what I had to do. I popped the lid off of my tower and inserted the new memory chips in there and managed to do it without any hassle at all :) Plugged everything back in, fired the computer up and viola' 4 gigs of RAM found by the computer! Now my computer can zoom around the internet as fast as the websites will allow. Yee haw!

Get Hitched

No matter your lifestyle it seems that sooner or later there will come a time when you will need an adjustable trailer hitch. Whether it is to haul junk to the waste management place or moving your stuff to a new location, sooner or later we all need to use a trailer and that trailer will need to be hitched up properly. Fire Hose

I spent twenty-five years as a custodian at my local college and for most of those years one of my duties was to clean the ceramics classroom and wheel room. This was a most tedious job let me tell you. Getting all that clay up off of a cement floor is hard work using just a garden hose but it's all I had to use. Imagine how much easier and faster this job would have been using a fire hose. If you have a large area to clean and wash on a regular basis then a fire hose might just be an excellent option for you. They certainly put out a lot of water with a lot of pressure. Think of the last time you saw a photo or a video of a fireman hosing down a fire. A lot of water pressure doing a great job of things! This company also offers other products like a dry hydrant system and portable water pumps. Those portable pumps look like something that can be used as an emergency water backup system as well. I may grab one of those for my house as the landlord has twice now failed to pay the water bill and my family has awakened to a house with no water. Five gallons stored away there would come in real handy while we wait for the water company to come back and turn the water back on. I must have my morning coffee, you know. Money!

I love when I go to my email and see that someone, somewhere has sent me money. Sometimes it is game site money that I need to spend placing bounties and sometimes it is site money that I loaned to a player and they are paying me back. Either way, it makes me smile :) Then there are those great days when someone has paid me for performing duties and those payments are in PayPal and are genuine dollars that I can spend for things I need or want. It's how I bought all of my computers. It's also how I had the cash to buy the power chair I bought so, even though it looks like a lot of trouble, clicking those ads and writing blog posts here and there really are worth it in the end :)

Church Seating

My wife and daughter attend a lovely church that has been continually growing for the past twenty-five years now. It gets bigger and bigger, allowing more and more people to attend. And the growth continues now as they are in the process of expanding the main auditorium even more. Not sure why they call that area an auditorium instead of something more religious sounding but since I do not attend that church I really have not cared to ask them. But, whatever they wish to call things one thing is for certain and that is they are now going to need a lot more church seating for all the new attendees. Church furniture, like some churches, have changed through the years. I have only attended one church that had seats instead of the traditional pews but I suppose many people find pews uncomfortable as compared to a chair. I know they are hard on a skinny rear end like mine. My wife's Pastor could certainly use the products this website offers. They have a variety of chairs both metal and wooden with what appears to be comfortable cushions attached. You don't want your church goers squirming around being uncomfortable while you are preaching that just wouldn't be good for church business. If your church still uses pews or perhaps the chairs they have are getting old and not so comfy maybe you should check out the site as well. Perhaps you could buy a row or two for your church and let some people sit in better comfort.

Great Day

I broke down a little and let my lovely wife have her birthday present early. Not all that early, a few hours before her birthday was here. She was amazed when she opened the box! She thought, at best, it was an MP3 player because her old one broke recently. She never imagined a Tablet :-D Lots of brownie points for hubby :)

New Computer

The replacement computer arrived this morning. Very lovely tower. Booted up right away and began the process of installing Windows XP. Had a slight problem reading the code on the computer so that Windows would know it was a genuine product. OOPS. I tried several times but Windows refused the code I entered. So, in exasperation, I gave up and called Blair Technology for help. Got a lovely voice that didn't seem to understand anything I was telling her lol She said she would pass my name and number along to the tech people and they would call me back. Fair enough. While waiting I had my wife copy the code and I entered her copy into the computer and Windows said okay and moved on to the next step. After a couple hours passing the tech guy called and I explained to him what happened. He was apologetic for not getting back to me sooner but I told him not to worry, things were okay. I did tell him that they had shipped out this computer short two gigs of memory from what I purchased. He looked at my order and then was very apologetic and said he would have a talk with the guy that sent me my computer as that is not good. I told him it was okay, I just didn't want the hassle of sending the computer back and all that. He agreed that would not be good but he could do me one better. On Monday he says the missing memory chips will be mailed out to me so I can install them myself. Now that is good business service! Thank you Blair Technology Group. This is the fourth computer I have bought from your company and I always recommend you to people that are looking for a new computer.

Double Ugh

Not sure what upsets me more, this damned humidity or that my computer got screwd over by Windows. The humidity here in the desert continues. I wish Mother Nature would rain and get it over with or just skip it and move on. It is very difficult to breathe well, even with the oxygen tubes in my nose :( Yesterday the hard drive crapped out. I reformatted it and started reinstalling Windows XP. Partially into that redoing the computer power went poof. When it came back Windows refused to continue or redo. ugh! Now I am using my wifes old, slow, computer. It has half a gig of RAM, that's how slow it is lol I do hope the replacement computer arrives soon or I may go nuts lol

Olympics

Hot topic today is the start of the Olympics. I wish I could care but I do not. I liked the Olympics a little bit when I was a kid but the older I get the more I could care less how they go. Maybe it's because they have changed through the years. It used to be all amateurs but not now. Seems like, with the persistent encouragement of a certain country professional athletes are now allowed. So, I wonder, what's the point? Who cares who wins the medals now? Be more entertained watching the Special Olympics. Those people put their hearts and souls into the games and they don't care about anything but having fun. If they win they are excited. If they lose they are excited for the person that won. The Special Olympics athletes could really humble the regular Olympic athletes, both amateur and professional.

Second Chance

I like marriage. I was married for over twenty years with the first wife. We raised four wonderful boys and life was alright. After the kids moved away things changed for whatever reason and the marriage ended. I now have a second chance with a second wife and Life is good again. I always thought that wedding gifts were wedding gifts, same thing no matter how many times one got married and certainly the same for gifts for a second marriage. But, I guess, according to some website, I was in error. They have gifts that are not the typical wedding gift (toaster,bedding,kitchenware). They have fancy gifts like a picnic backpack (nice!) and a year of wishes candles. Like I said, not your typical wedding gifts. Peace And Quiet

It is quiet in the lobby tonight as I write this, just the way I like it. Gives me a chance to do other things, like write this blog :) Some players complain when the lobby is quiet. I don't know why that is, they should be coming in to play games not just shoot the breeze all the time. Guess you cannot please everyone.... I choose to please myself, I hope the lobby stays quiet and peaceful :)

Sunburn???

My computer set up is in my kitchen right beside a West facing window. This means that it is nice and cool early in the morning and hotter than Hell come late afternoons. One side of my body gets, as you can imagine, an enormous amount of sunshine on it. I have been rather crispy for a while now but haven't let it bother me as I would rather be on the computer. This afternoon I swiveled my chair to talk to my wife and daughter and the child lets out with an "Oh my God!" and grabs my arm like she just saw something horrific. She twists it around and tells her mother that I am sunburned lol I tell them both it is no big deal I have been burnt for a while now, yada, yada, yada. My daughter, who has read way too much BS about the sun and skin cancer goes into the other room, comes back in and grabs my arm and starts slathering lotion on it in spite of my constantly saying "ewww". I am not a lotion kind of guy lol We all did have a chuckle though over how the daughter does not ask me for permission to do this, she just grabs the arm and does it. Her excuse is that she knew if she asked for permission I would have said no. Got to love that young female logic lmao

Light Up A Cigar

The other night my wife and I were sitting at our computers in the kitchen when she started to complain about the smell of my cigarette. She kept saying it smelled like a cigar instead. I told her I hadn't noticed anything different and she got a tad grumpy, telling me a couple of times to "inhale". This made me laugh because I always inhale my cigarette smoke. Her complaining also made me think back to much younger days when I used to smoke cigars as well as cigarettes. Perhaps unfortunately for my poor lungs, I inhaled that smoke as well. I never did quite fathom the thought of smoking something that one would not inhale although I was often told by older cigar smokers not to inhale as it would damage my lungs. I have not smoked a cigar in a long time so I went looking for a place that might have discount cigars online. When I found out that my wife's birthday present had shipped out I told her that FedEx would be knocking on the door with a package and that neither she nor our daughter could open it. She said it was okay, she likes to be surprised on her birthday. Today while on the phone with her I told her the package had already arrived. Her reaction? "What is it?" I laughed and then she asked what was in the box. So much for like surprises lol It didn't so her any good though, all I told her was that shipping paper was in the box lol Females can be soooo nosy lol

Hard Drive Troubles

While I sit and wait for my new computer my old on is having fits. It goes as slow as molasses when I am trying to work on anything that requires java or flash. It didn't used to be like that. I ran Windows defragging program in the hopes that would help but it didn't. This old hard drive has troubles that Windows cannot fix. If I didn't have a new computer on its way to me I would be searching for a disk defragmenter that would go beyond the simple scope of the built in defragger. One that will really clean things up so that the hard drive will act like a young pup instead of an old geezer. How Silly

I chat banned two players yesterday for inappropriate chat at a game table. Not that unusual, it happens often. Of course they both claim they do not know why they lost chat. The female says they were not talking about sex, she loves chocolate and did tell the male player to stop. Yep, she told him to stop but that was way into the conversation when they were just starting to verge on vulgar. The male claims he said nothing in lobby, so I am assuming he doesn't recall getting nasty at a table. That's normal too, he never remembers anything bad he has done. How silly!

Super Fast Walmart

Yesterday morning I got an email telling me that the gift card I had used to shop online at Walmart with had approved my purchases and they would be delivered in five to seven days. Typical shipping stuff there. This morning I was awakened by the FedEx man delivering a package from Walmart! Wow, that was super fast. Then the mailman came and he brought another box from, you guessed it, Walmart! Wow! Both packages in one days time :) My lovely wifes birthday present is here and her birthday is still a couple weeks away. *Pats self on back*

The childish behavior continued again today but then it hit a snag in the path. Two of the players had their chat revoked for 3 days for being too silly with their sexual innuendo chats. The ring leader does not seem to say much these days, preferring to let her friends do all the dirty work. Hopefully the two chat bans will let them know that the game is almost over, they can go play elsewhere and leave us alone...

I Gotta Laugh

Sometimes people do not seem to get the simplest of things. Usually I am laughing at silly players that come into the lobby to cause mischief and then get all confused when their chat is removed. Like they didn't see it coming lol Todays laugh comes from a business that I deal with on a regular basis. Every so often they send a message to all the people there explaining something very, very simple. Either follow the directions or lose your ability to enjoy that company. No problem there. Today I got the mass message where the company is finally going to get vicious with those that cannot understand the simple directions. Don't follow the instructions and you become inactive. I feel bad for those that become inactive but, on the other hand, perhaps this means more work for those of us that always follow them. We shall see what happens next...

Finally

The tech guys at Blair finally ran out of ideas and sent me the return authorization last week. Thursday I think. Today the wife and daughter took it to fedEx and the computer is on its way back to Kentucky so they can do whatever it is they wish with it and send me a replacement computer. I soooo hope the next one works. I need more memory!

It is humid here. Still. No darned rain, just mugginess. This might be okay weather for most of the world but it is not nice weather here in the desert of California. More importantly it is NOT nice weather for me and my COPD. Having more trouble breathing than it is worth :( Wish Mother Nature would either rain and get it over with or just take her moisture somewhere else and leave me alone with the dry desert heat.

Ex-Mods that is, not ex-wives or partners. Had to send a message to an Ex-Mod yesterday reminding her she is no longer a Mod and to stop doing a Mod's job. Players can be helpful at times but it is best that they not help faster than the Mod on duty can answer. She was not happy with my message but, oh well. Last week she complained that the 2 Mods doing her old shift were the most inept Mods ever, always spamming the lobby with games and blurbs. Basically she told me they were fucking up her shift. It isn't her shift anymore lol Nor, much to her dismay, will it ever be again. She needs to get a grip on reality and move on with Life...

What A Night

It has been very humid here in my desert the past few days. Very hot and very humid are not a good combination for me at all. Last night I started coughing and could not seem to stop. I coughed up a lot of snot and when I thought I was done I started all over again. I coughed, I sneezed, I threw up, all snot. Was wondering just how much mucus can one very thin body hold :( Finally got it settled down after several hours. Was beginning to think I ight need a trip to the Emergency Room but was too stubborn to go, preferring to wait it all out. Switched over to an oxygen tank for a while just to see if that made any difference but it didn't. I did manage to get to sleep and slept like a log for ten hours or more. So...all is back to normal, almost. It is still very hot and very humid here. It barely started to sprinkle last night and then stopped. Ugh. Give me some damn rain or humidity be gone!

In this day and tough economic times everyone is searching for any way to save money. Even folks that used to scoff at coupon clippers are now in the checkout lines with their own clippings trying to save a few bucks as they shop. I cannot blame them, heck even I have used a few coupons along the way. All this is very good in the grocery store of your choice but what about shopping online? Hot Air

I love the desert, I truly do. It gets very hot here in the Summer but it is (usually) a dry heat and that tends to make it bearable. The past few days however have not been very bearable at all. The forecast is for slight chances of rain that never comes so the humidity level goes up. Ugh. The other thing that makes this Summer different from the others, beyond my age lol, is that this is the first Summer where I have had an oxygen tube in my nose 24/7. You never really notice that all you are breathing is hot air until you have that tubing in your nostrils. Another Ugh. I am beginning to realize now why so many kids stand in front of an open freezer door when it gets hot...

Memory

So, I bought 2 new computers, one for my wife and one for me. Hers I set up and it runs like a charm and she is thrilled to death. Kudos for me :) Mine however refuses to boot up no matter what I do and, believe me, I have done a lot! I keep getting awful error messages that make it impossible to do a Recovery or to do a whole new setup of Windows Xp. Very frustrating! So today I went through all the hassle again and copied the error message I got so that I could come back to this computer and do some Googling and research. I am happy that I did. It appears that these error messages may have something to do with faulty memory chips or dirty memory chip[s or something along those lines. So, later, when I have the time and energy and the ability I will pull the memory chips out one by one and check them. I also will try to start the computer with each memory chip missing and see if that helps. Gotta love computers...

Test

The girls got me a new keyboard and Windows cannot find any drivers that will make it work :( Searched online and all I got was a bunch of reviews saying how worthless this keyboard is and it isn't worth the ten dollars they paid for it. Something about the keys not working properly and doing strange things. So, I thought I'd test things out with my blog to see what happens :) First things first tho. To make the keyboard work I changed it from a USB one to a PS2 one with an adaptor I had laying around gathering dust. As soon as I restarted, viola, the keyboard worked :) So, time will tell if this thing is going to pass muster or not. Hope the girls kept the receipt because they bought it at Walmart and Walmart is very good at taking things back that do not work properly :) So far, everything looks good... MGM Channel

While surfing the web the other night I found this wonderful website that was showing HBO live and streaming. Bad part is that everything was in Portuguese, a language I neither speak nor comprehend lol I went to their home page and started surfing through the various channels they had, mostly sports, and then came across a channel called the MGM channel and everything spoken was in English. It had Portuguese subtitles though. Imagine my shock when I went back later, thinking movies from MGM, and found two lovely ladies making love in a sauna! Hmmm... I don't think of MGM quite that way. A sex scene now and then surely, but soft porn? I love wandering around the internet seeing just what is there to be seen. I am not a prude by any means but am always shocked when I find stuff like the MGM channel showing soft porn. What a day. Been trying to do all the things I needed to do but have to keep stopping in the middle of things because my stomach hates me today. Bound To Happen

Last night one of the players got a brilliant idea. Brilliant for him but a nightmare for the Mods and a headache for us Administrators. He decided, in his moment of brilliance, that one of the Mods needs a new computer. She has had a lot of computer troubles through the years that she has been there and the player thought it a great idea for others to help her get a new computer by donating part of their game winnings to her. Sounds good at first glance, right? The Mod in question did not think his idea was a good one and she repeatedly asked him to stop putting forth his grand idea in the lobby. He wouldn't let go, like a puppy with a chew toy he persisted. He kept at it until another Mod came in and told him to drop it. He still wouldn't let go so he was chat banned. Now he is an unhappy player. The problem here lies with the past. Many players have managed to scam others out of their money based on falsehoods and there is no way to tell if the players would now think that they are being scammed by a Mod and her friend. Not good at all. The other problem is that it is against the rules to beg, directly or indirectly, for site money. If this player is allowed to "beg" for help getting the Mod a new computer then what is to stop other players who are broke from having their friends ask for some help for them. That's not good either. Ugh. What a headache!

New Arrival

One of my game site friends and fellow Mod has just become a new daddy. He already had a son and now he has a daughter. The young lady came into the world yesterday and is very healthy and is very cute as well. Friends and family have been there to help the young couple which is always a good thing. Times are tough and babies are not cheap. Don't know what all the family and friends have provided them with but I would think that at some point in time they are going to be needing some bedding for the new arrival and they should be looking at glenna jean baby bedding for their precious little girl. Halfway There

As far as the writing assignments go I am now halfway through them :) But now I must take a break as I have other concerns to deal with. I have just sent the girls to Walgreen's for moneypaks. One is for my daughter and her birthday present that she is dying to get started on even though her birthday is thirteen days away. Girls are not patient when it comes to shopping. She found this website and has been dying to use it for a month now. Personally I was hoping she'd change her mind so that we could get her something more useful but it wasn't to be. The other moneypak is for me to reinstate my prepaid credit card. I haven't used it in a long time and I am, according t their website, eleven dollars in arrears. Oops. I found two computer towers that I want to purchase online to replace the two computers that are slow and overheating these days. Another Meeting

We had our second meeting with the Mod Admins and the Support person. It went very well and was only an hour or so this time. More business and less gossip this time lol Hopefully all of our suggestions were good ones and the owner will take action on them. All we can ask for :) The girls are almost home so that worry is off my head so I can now concentrate on the things I need to get done before my game site shift starts in 2 and a half hours. Day is not going according to plan but I shall persevere.

Long Day Ahead

I have only been up and at it for a couple of hours and I already realize this is going to be a long day. I have tons of writing to do. Time consuming as it is, it also can be enjoyable as well as profitable. Some of it I should have done yesterday but got busy elsewhere and couldn't get to any writing. Today I have the writing to do, food to fix and eat so my wife doesn't scream at me later, I may have an online meeting this afternoon too. I have not even begun to look at the game site to see what is going on over there. Ugh. Too much to do and too little time. The only blessing, if it is a blessing, is that my wife and daughter are both gone so I can write in peace. Wish me luck!

Let's face it, things break. Maybe more often than they used to but they break. Hiccups

Our game site has the hiccups. Much better than whole site crashes but still annoying to those that are trying to use the site. It certainly isn't any fun for the Mods either, having to explain to players to be patient, or what happened or where the game went that someone was playing. Ugh. Not sure why the site hiccups like this but I do know the tech people are working hard at tracking down the problems with the software so they can fix things. Unfortunately for those of us moderating the chat the players want everything fixed and they want it fixed yesterday lol. I wish it were all that simple. In the meantime we wait, patiently, for the next hiccup...

Snafu

What a mess. My daughter's cell phone was broken and so she complained to the company, Virgin Mobile, who agreed to send her a new cell phone to replace it. All good there. She got her new cell phone and was very happy but couldn't activate a new plan yet (it's not a contract phone)because she was broke. No biggie there, happens to us all. A day or two later she got another cell phone and, following the instructions, sent it back to Virgin Mobile. When she had the money she went to a cell phone shop and put money on her new cell phone so she can use it. The problem starts here. Virgin Mobile now says she has a "stolen" cell phone and they cannot put her money on that cell phone. Say, what??? She did what she was supposed to do and now they mess up and blame her?? She has spent the better part of one day on the phone with these foolish people and, hopefully, they are beginning to get this mess sorted. I hope so because she is NOT a happy camper. Neither are her parents.

The Way To Fully See

My daughter, into high fashion and weddings and all that, takes a good amount of time preparing herself before she goes to most places. She wants to look her best as she is single and she realizes that first impressions are lasting ones. So, she primps and preens in front of the mirror, hogging up the bathroom. The problem with that mirror is that it is over the sink and there really isn't enough room in there to move backwards to fully see your entire outfit. She can, of course ask Mom or myself and often does. I don't think she really believes me when I say she looks fine. I am a man but I am an old man, not the hip young man she will be seeing wherever she is going. Old geezers lie I guess, especially fathers. What my daughter truly needs is a floor length mirror so that she can look at herself and her outfits and judge for herself if she looks fine or terrible. Or perhaps a Girl's Standing Mirror would do the trick, even though it is designed for little girls, it is standing and it is pink (her favorite color) and my daughter is short. No matter what mirror it is I should buy one soon as I do want my daughter to go out looking her best so that she might impress a handsome young man who will take her away from home. Then she can ask her husband if she looks good and hopefully won't think he fibs when he says you look great.

Knee Walkers

I looked at the phrase knee walker and tried hard to think of just what the heck it could be and couldn't think of a single thing. So I went looking for the answer and found it. What knee walkers are is a small scooter assembly that enables people with injuries below the knee to maneuver around while they are recovering. Much more convenient than a crutch and certainly more versatile. Prime examples of this would be a broken ankle or broken foot or an Achilles Tendon injury, something that requires non-weight bearing on a leg. Easily Amused?

Some people amuse themselves with the strangest of things. A player was in the game lobby a few hours ago and someone asked him to play. He told them he doesn't play any more he just comes into the lobby a few times a week to shoot the shit and raise hell. The Mod on duty called me into the lobby to see this chat so I was telling the player he should behave himself. His reply was "fuck that". Okie dokie, gonna be one of those days. We had a few exchanges and he ended up saying that he knows the rules better than either the Mods or the Admin because he helped write them when he was a Mod a few years back. Then you'd think he would know how to follow those rules, right? He left complaining that I was baiting him s that he would get booted and lose his chat. Chat I might add he said he really didn't care about. Then he runs to his Facebook page and posts all of the chat between him, me and the Mod on duty. I guess the idea there is so that he and his friends can all have a good chuckle over how brave he is to backtalk the Admin. Don't know and I don't care. His Facebook page, he can post whatever he likes. Last laugh may be on him though. I finished performing my Admin duties for his chat by sending it in to the Support people and telling them that perhaps they should just close his account and let's see how much he truly cares about his chat and playing on the site. If he doesn't come back I really don't see anything worthwhile lost there. Just another pain in the neck...

Ugh

No rest for the weary...or is that wicked? Either way, no rest for me today. I was all set to go lay down for a while when my wife came home. She reminded me she was doing the afternoon shift in the lobby which is no problem, I asked her to do it. The problem came as her computer refuses to cooperate with java and keep her lobby open. So, off she went to use the laptop which is in the bedroom. This means she has to sit on the bed I was planning on using to nap. So, no nap for me. I shall just sit here and do the work I was supposed to do before I was feeling ill...

Stand It Up

More and more these days television sets are getting bigger and thinner than ever before. The old dinosaur sets that took up lots of space in the family rooms are gone from the scene. The problem here is that the old sets stood up quite nicely all by themselves, newer sets these days often need a tv stand with mount to ensure that they not only stand but are safe as well. Personally I would be horrified if I paid good money for a set to have it fall over and be destroyed either by accident or earthquake. remember, I live in shaky California. Crummy Day

Woke up this morning to find my Summer weather gone and cool weather in it's place. Cloudy with a slight chance of rain. And that was the best part of the day. I've been coughing up phlegm like there is no tomorrow. Every time I think I got it all gone I start over. Bad day for that as I have a ton of work I need to write by this evening. Besides, I hate coughing like that. It's about the same as vomiting in that you get the same awful stomach acid taste in your mouth and throat. Yuck! I shall do my best to write all the assignments that I have though...

Looks like the Moderator that I had de-modded came back sooner than expected. Amazing that I de-modded him one day and he was back the next! He complained in the lobby about being fired then started making games to give his money away. He did not contact either of the Admins nor the Mod Supervisor. Tells me that he really did not want to be a Mod all that badly, if at all, really. Today the players are in the lobby acting all uppity in his defense. Fired!

As with any Administrative position there is always something unpleasant that must be done from time to time and today was one of those days. I de_modded one of the older Mods today and while I hate doing these tasks it had to be done. He has been a thorn in a lot of sides for quite some time and now has chosen to be an even bigger thorn so he had to be removed. So many players have complained about him that it isn't funny. And now he goes on a leave of absence with the parting shots that he will decide when he comes back if he still wants to be a Mod. He is in for a surprise now because I have made that decision for him. You cannot leave a group hanging like you think you are the only important part of the group. It isn't going to happen while I am an Admin.

Outdoor Fun

I live in the desert where, in the Spring and Summer months it is as hot as can be during the daytime. I often can be found shirtless, trying to stay a little cooler. In the evenings though, once the sun has set, you'll find me with my shirt back on as it gets very cool, sometimes cold at night. It's nice to sit around the patio when the weather is nice, have a drink of one's choosing (coffee for me) and just kick back and relax from whatever stresses the day has brought. If the nights are too cool tho, it would be nice to stay outside and sit around outdoor fireplaces as a way to both stay warm and add an extra element of decor to that patio. Summertime And...

I can tell it is summertime weather here in the beautiful California desert. Not just from the wonderful 90 degree weather outside my window either. I can tell it is summer-like because my poor computer fan is running overtime trying to keep the processor cool and I am running in safe mode even. Fiddlesticks

My wifes computer crashed. Again. Crazy thing, it crashed a week or so ago and refused to boot up into XP either in normal or safe mode. I played around with it for a couple of days and finally got it back into booting up. It ran fine for a few days and then, last night, decided it didn't want to boot up. Again. So now here I am, back to square one with the silly thing. It has no recovery options on boot up so that makes it a bigger pain. I shall play with it some more, see if I can get it up and running once more. Hopefully I can get it straightened out enough that it works until I can get her a new computer. Wish me luck, me and computer repairs are not on the best of terms...

Dreamer

My daughter lives in some sort of fashion fairy tale. She loves high society fashions and thinks that she should wear these things in spite of the fact that we are dirt poor. Too many hours of television shows and movies for her lol A couple of days ago she came home from shopping with this enormous hat. This is the sort of hat i would imagine the Queen of England wearing so of course I burst out laughing. This upset my daughter quite a bit but I could not stop giggling nor could I tell her what was so terribly wrong with that hat. I live in the Mojave Desert, a place where the winds usually blow between 20 and 30 mph. Not the place for any hat, more so one as large as hers. Heck, even baseball caps have trouble staying put on peoples heads as they walk. Her hat might be okay if we had a car but we do not. Everywhere they go there is walking involved so that hat is a disaster waiting to occur. First day I saw her wearing it outside she was hanging onto it for dear life and had her head bent over against the breeze. Told my wife later in private that our kid looked like a Mexican taking siesta, all you can see is her hat bent down looking like a sombrero. LOL Poor child of mine. Such a dreamer she is.

Spring?

Just Shoot Me

Last night I reread the previous post about moving Itunes to an external hard drive and went through with it. Moving the files was okay but that was all that was okay.
Once moved I plugged in my daughters Ipod and that's when it all went south.
Itunes tells me that the Ipod can only be synched to one computer and this isn't it! What???
Okay I panicked. I removed the Ipod and moved the files back to their original location. I plugged the Ipod back in and got the same error message. Oh, crud.
So, now my daughter's Ipod can no longer be synched. How wonderful. Not!
Damn you Apple and Itunes!

Medical Scrubs

It is Spring. I can tell because the weather is getting slightly warmer and the sun seems a bit brighter outside my window. Nice weather it is out there.
Time to get rid of the heavy duty clothing and think about lighter gear, something you can be comfortable. Something like medical scrubs.
Do not scoff at that statement. Have you ever seen a nurse or doctor pulling at their clothing trying to get that 'just right" fit? Me neither. they always look comfortable in those scrubs they wear.
And these days the medical scrubs are not just plain old white or some other color. Heck they even come with cartoon favorites on them like Garfield or Minnie Mouse. They even have this one that resembles a jigsaw puzzle:

And it's easy to do. Simply move your entire Itunes Library (generally your "My Music" folder on Windows) to the external hard drive while Itunes is shut down. Bring up Itunes, then reconnect to that library on the external drive. That's all there is to it. Remember, of course, that you need that drive connected all the time to update podcasts, and when syncing your Ipod.
