Different Opinions

My lovely wife finally got to see a doctor yesterday about her eye. Got to see two doctors actually as the first one sent her somewhere else to get a second opinion. And, the two doctors had different opinions. So, we shall see what happens with that.
First one gave her several prescriptions for allergies and such, thinking the eye problem was caused by allergies.
Second doctor gave her some other prescriptions, their opinion is that my wife has somehow managed to get pink eye. Don't know how that would happen, nor why none of the rest of the household has gotten it, i believe pink eye is very contagious. But then, I am not a doctor, what do I know?
At any rate she has a new eye patch to wear to help keep the bright lights away from that eye and she will be getting her meds soon so she can take those and, hopefully, the eye problem will go away.

Riding Apparel

My daughter has decided she wants a pet of her own. Not sure why since i know she will get bored with it's "cuteness" shortly after she gets it. Then Mom will have to take care of it since the pet she wants is a rodent and I am afraid of rodents. I am a little surprised that she didn't want a pony instead of a hamster but girls are hard to figure out sometimes.
I thought she'd be more interested in a pony or a horse since someone in our neighborhood has a horse and they ride it down the streets to give it exercise. That and my daughter is very clothes-minded and there are lots of different clothes in equestrian riding apparel. Doesn't matter much what you wear when taking care of a hamster lol
Looking at the clothing and such for the equestrian rider I see that their apparel is not just for looks but also for safety as well. Important when riding to be safety conscious.

Blindness

The cold that should have been simple turned into the cold from hell. First the two females caught it then they passed it along to me. A simple cold, no big deal, right? Wrong!
I got the cold and it went to my eyes. I could hardly see or stand to be at the computer for any length of time. I had a very rough time doing my game site work because it is all basically reading chat. Ugh. It lasted for two days and got better. Unfortunately I passed the cold back to my wife.
Yesterday she could not open her eye at all. Today it is slightly better but she is still blind in that eye due to the cold and all the teariness. She cannot do her shift work and is lucky to be able to see her way around anywhere in the house.
Hopefully she will be better tomorrow. She has plans to go see a doctor in the morning...

Old Age

Watching some of the people on Facebook vent their politics can be humorous. They all are young and idealistic and they make me laugh. Most of them will stick with their ideals for a few years then drop them like a bad habit once they hit the real world of family raising and work and good things like that.
I am old, some days I am very, very old. I still follow the same convictions i did in my youth. I was a hippie then and I am a hippie today. I watched the hippies shun money and power in the sixties then watched in horror as most of them went from hippies to Yuppies, chasing the Almighty Dollar they swore they hated and driving themselves around in BMWs. What happened to these people?
I grew up poor and now that I am old I am still poor. In the years in between I managed to spend forty years working, never getting rich nor ever caring if I did. Sure, I'd daydream about winning the lottery like everyone else. But, I never won and it didn't concern me.
I raised five stepchildren along with two wives and we always managed to survive on my salary and my wife's salary. We didn't live high on the hog but we did okay. The kids had food and clothing and shelter and schooling so all went well there.
I am sixty one years old and poor as can be. I do not chase after the Almighty Dollar but I don't pass one up if I see it either, like when I write blog posts for others on here. It isn't a lot of money but any extra money is always a good thing, even for an old hippie like me.
The older and sicker I get it seems like the more I think about being mortal. If there is one thing I can take to the grave with me it is the satisfaction that I lived my life on my terms as much as possible and no one else could force me to change. Sure, I paid attention to whatever my bosses told me to do, I wasn't stupid lol But, all things considered I am the same person at sixty one that I was at eighteen.
Set your priorities in order, follow them with all your heart and gusto and the end result will be that you get old and find that you are happy.

Wedding Photos

Wedding days are special, not only for the bride and groom but also for those that are family and friends of the new couple. And of course every couple wants memories of that special day which is why they hire photographers to take pictures. I've been to a number of weddings and had my photo taken and I hope that when couples look back at their pictures and see me there sharing the joy of the day they smile and remember me.
Many times the wedding photographer is the busiest person at the church, making sure that they get all the family pictures and get photos of the bride and groom with those family members and the bridesmaids and best man, and the list just seems to go on and on.
But there is also a wedding photographer philadelphia that takes a more subtle approach, capturing the great day as it unfolds, trying to bring a calming approach to what is otherwise a very hectic day.
I went through his portfolio and snapshot pictures and they are simply amazing. He captures the wedding, sure, but he also manages to capture the real people and the events of the wedding. My favorite was a picture of a father looking at his daughter in her bridal outfit and just looking human, looking like he is happy for his child but still worried (there is a slight frown that only a parent would understand) like any parent would be worried.

My wife is upset with me, again. Says I am grumpy. Again. She was trying to read me something I could care less about while I was writing a blog post and she said to heck with me being grumpy and not paying attention to her and she left the room.
Came back a little while later asking if I was more congenial. I said I was okay but she left the room again.
I cannot win if I am grumpy or nice! lol
I shall be very happy when she is feeling better so we can go back to normal.

Getting Worse

Looks like the wife is feeling worse rather than better :(
She got lots of rest and sleep yesterday and last night but this morning she is still full of mucus and now has a terrible headache. Not good.
The child is still sounding like she is sick but I did let her leave the house this afternoon to go get some food. Sick or healthy we still have to eat! Sent her out for pizza, hope that will satisfy both of my sick girls.
Waiting for word on one of the Mods too. Yesterday her blood pressure went up sky high and doctor ordered her to hospital. Looks like her kidneys are failing :( Definitely not good.

Retirement

The boss came into the lobby tonight and let the players know that come the end of January she will be gone as Admin and just a regular player. She has had enough and is retiring.
Everyone says they will miss her although some of them players were secretly grinning from ear to ear I know. Their joy will be short-lived though as she has already picked her replacements. Yep, plural. two Mods will become Admins and the players are not going to be all that thrilled at who she has picked I guarantee that much.
She has not told anyone other than those that truly needed to know who the two mods are and that suits me just fine. The less the players know about it the better since it is none of their business anyway.

Yes, the calendar says Winter started a few days back. It always says when Winter starts, that is what calendars are for.
But, in my house I know that Winter is truly here, both of my girls are sick with a cold. Ugh.
Bad thing is that my wife thinks she might be better off sleeping in a recliner in the living room so that she does not pass the cold on to me. She's scared I will get sick and go back to the hospital. I hope that doesn't happen :(

Party Time

It's the holiday season still and many folks are preparing for another party to celebrate the New Year. Of course if you are one of these people I hope you have fun. I also hope that your house is clean so people will not talk badly about you afterwards. So, now that I have put that thought into your head, look down at that carpet. When is the last time you cleaned that?

Robots That Play?

One of the things that seems to have plagued the gaming industry online all through the years is "bots", a software system that allows people to play games, win money and never even be on their computer. they can be at work, at school, grocery shopping, anywhere. Meanwhile the "bot" is at their home playing online. I have even heard people say that they had more than one "bot" playing at same time as their other "bot". Basically they cheated game sites out of lots and lots of money until they were caught.
I do not understand why anyone would do this. If you are caught the least that would happen is that you lose whatever money you made at the time. the worst i would imagine is that, if the company had already paid you money then they could essentially take you to court and retrieve their money and/or send you to jail for fraud.
No way I can see that playing with a "bot" is worth going to jail for. No amount of ill gotten gain is worth that, no matter what your circumstances. Well, maybe if you were homeless and starving, then jail might start to look okay lol

Long Game

Yesterday afternoon I popped in to the game lobby for a few minutes to see what was going on with the chat. I was not planning on playing just a fast look and gone. All the chat was about the big game to celebrate five years of nopay and how they were all looking forward to trying to get a large piece of the prizepool which was $2500. I could understand their wishes.
I looked at the game and saw that the starting stack of chips was ten thousand and players could add up to fifty thousand more. This made me chuckle, that's a lot of chips to play with!
Then I thought, just for a lark i would join that game and not add any extra chips, give myself a little exercise in how far could I go without that extra edge. I started off poorly, lost almost all of my chips on 2 pair against their straight. I was looking at the door there with only 2500 chips left at a table where everyone else had humungous amounts of chips.Then something wonderful happened.
The site crashed! Support had to reboot the servers and when they did that the game sort of started over. Instead of the 300-600 chip blinds, things went back to 30-60. I could actually afford to play a few more hands! And, I made the best of that advantage, doubling up three or four times and starting to get a normal looking stack again.
Four hours and fifteen minutes or so later I left the game. I left in sixth place out of 374 players that started and was rewarded with $1000 for the game and $100 for a player that I took out earning their bounty.
It was a lot of fun but was way too long of a game. The other bummer is that that is not real dollars, I could use a thousand dollars in my wallet any day of the year.

Survived It

It has been a long and tedious year with health problems as well as the usual money troubles but Christmas came and went and I survived another one.
My wife was very happy with her gift of an MP3 player that can gold a gazillion songs as well as allow her to hear audiobooks. Points for me!
the daughter was also very happy with her gift of a special Barbie doll that has some connection to a site she uses called Stardolls. Points for me!
I also got a chance to talk to two of my sons that live far away so that was nice too. I love hearing from my kids as any parent should.
I got lots of stuff and was a happy camper myself. The one gift I asked for I am using at this moment, a new keyboard for my computer. the other one was getting worn out and tired, somewhat like the old man using it lol
I hope all of you had a safe and merry Christmas and are looking forward to the new year coming quickly.

And tomorrow looks to be about the same! Hope I do not bore anyone to tears or anything but I have things that I must do, I'm sure you all understand.
In the midst of all this stuff I must do is still the task of buying a Christmas present for my wife. I am sorely disappointed that the prices for what I wanted to give her have skyrocketed out of my reach. Serves me right though for waiting so long.
I normally have all my shopping done early because I shopped online mostly at Ebay using my PayPal money. Quick and easy, shop,buy,wait for delivery. But not this year.
Because I have no bank account PayPal says I have reached my spending limit through the years and refuses to let me do anything with my money other than request a check.
Nice little catch-22 there, a check for a man without a bank account. However I have solved that part, the place where I cash my retirement check every month has gladly allowed me to cash checks from PayPal as well.
So, I have cash to shop with I just need to get out of the house once I find the gift I wish to buy her, run in the store and get it, run back out to the cab and get back home and back onto the oxygen.
And, I will find her gift!!!

The new year is fast approaching and most minds are on their New Years Eve plans and which party they will go to. But this time of year is also a good time to think about Technical Recruiting Jobs.
I found this site to be very interesting and simple to use. First you click on your state or a state that you would like to work in. Then you click on a city and see what jobs are available. They may not be in that precise city but they will be nearby.
For instance I clicked on my city and found several jobs that are available. I clicked on a trainee position and it came up with a job in a city that isn't mine but is roughly an hour away by car. Since many of the people that live here commute, that makes sense to post that job for my city.
A new year can be a great time to start fresh with a new job or even a new location. Tired of your dead end job but didn't know where to turn to find a new one? Well, now you know where to start. Frustrating

Last night my daughter worked at the Walmart across town ringing the bell for Salvation Army. Not that far away but too far to be walking home late in the evening. Her mother told her on the phone to go to the nearest bus stop and catch the number 11 bus and get off about 2 miles from the house and Mom will meet her. Simple, yes? Simple, no.
The girl went to the nearest bus stop and took the number 12 bus and went to the City park. The park is also about 2 miles from home but in the completely opposite direction of where Mom went! Mom is stuck in one place, the girl in the other.
So, the girl takes the number 11 bus from the city park, travels all over town, and finally gets to where she should have been an hour or more earlier. Thankfully there was a store where Mom was that stayed open late!
My daughter lives in her own little la la land more often than not and usually has no clue where she is when she is out of the neighborhood. I fear this one may never grow up :(

We've pretty much all seen commercials on television for adult diapers and drugs that are supposed to help with that constant running to the bathroom and most have chuckled at them but, rest assured, these incontinence products are no laughing matter.
There is nothing more horrendous from a personal standpoint than being out and about running here and there shopping and suddenly finding yourself losing control of your bodily functions and soiling yourself. Ugh! I know this is true because it has happened to me a couple of times. No bathrooms available and no bushes and privacy? Yikes!
With a diaper one is still bound to be embarrassed but not as embarrassed as you would be without something other than your underwear trying to hold that mess in. And, if you are an older person such as myself you may not be embarrassed because it is something that happens more to us than any other ages.

Seems like everything about the ocean is healthy. Fish is supposed to be brain food and fish oils are good for the skin and digestive systems. Even the sea air seems healthy when you are at the ocean. And of course the waves coming in and out are not only relaxing they can relieve stress quickly.
Kelp is supposed to be a healthy food although I have never tried it as is seaweed. But I don't want to eat seaweed either. However seaweed can be useful in other ways as can be seen by checking out seaweed products from seaweedbathco.

Cold and dreary here in the desert today. It has been raining off and on all morning. I checked the weather service and they are calling for temps into the low 20's for tonight with the chance of snow. Ugh!
I'm sure many people here will be thrilled if it snows but I am not one of them. Snow is nice to look at, in pictures lol
Daughter just got a phone call from a friend who is in the next town over and the friend says some snow has fallen over there. Oh, goodie. It can stay there lol

Have had my lovely wife's Christmas present planned for a while now, been seeing the item at great prices when I didn't have the money for it. Now I am running out of time and, of course, the prices have skyrocketed! It figures!
Now I must think of something and soon. It is already the tenth of December, only 2 weeks left to figure out what to buy her, find a day when I have the stamina to do it and get her present. God help me!

My lovely 20 year old daughter has this unusual fascination with weddings and will sit for hours watching wedding shows on Netflix. Hours! She drools over the wedding dresses and the big plans these people all make. Of course they make big plans, they are on television. Personally my idea of a nice wedding is when couples elope, get married in Nevada and wear whatever the heck they want to wear. This will not work for my child though, she has stars in her eyes.
It isn't just dresses that she likes to look at though, she also adores wedding rings. The fancier they are the better she adores them. So I have no doubt that she would spend countless hours drooling over the great selection of wedding rings over on scott kay. Got to hand it to the young girl, we are poor as church mice but she has extravagant plans for her wedding.

Okay, so this is not going well...
Took picture of the chair last night so I could post it here. Went to send picture to my email from the cell phone and it told me it couldn't send anything because I had no money in my cell account. Oops!
So today I put money in the cell phone (pay as you go) so I can send the picture. I send the picture, go to my email and the picture is in a format that neith Outlook Express nor Irfanview can understand. Damn :(

Was going to go out yesterday in the chair, weather sucked big time so I passed on it. Today it was cold but sunny and I thought I could at least give the chair a trial run to the corner store and home. Set out with the lovely wife and got about halfway across the yard and came back to the house. Battery did not charge hardly at all the other day so it had next to no juice. Damn :(

Chair is back on the charger now and will stay there until sometime tomorrow morning. I am hoping that will charge it back up. If it doesn't I guess I will know why I got it so cheaply lol

Talk about a prayer being answered :) I have been trying hard to save up for a power scooter so I can get out of the house once in a while, had some luck with donations and such and was getting there.
Today I opened up the Penny Saver and see an ad for an electric wheelchair for one hundred dollars! Yes, that is right, $100. I went to look at it with my friend and his pick up truck, gave it a fast test drive and brought that baby home :)
It's a small chair, which is perfect for my small frame and so much cheaper than the scooter. I am so happy I could dance if I had the energy lol
I will post a picture of it later. Right now I am trying to calm down and breathe normal again. I was out for quite a bit of time without my oxygen and I missed it terribly. But, it was well worth it!
I am stoked!!!!!

Another visit to the ER :(
This time it was for stomach cramps, back pain (severe) and chest pains :(
When it rains, it pours

Even the ER nurse remembered me from the last visit. I have been there too often lol

They have no idea why I had stomach cramps so they gave me some Maalox for that, didn't do much. They gave me a couple of antibiotics for the other stuff and some Vicodin for the pain. Vicodin works wonders :)

Today was a great day for traffic exchange surfing. I managed to surf all of them and I did at least 50 pages on them all.
One of them have a lot more than 50 but that is because they do brackets surfing there and on the weekends the brackets only last for one hour. Normally the brackets are an all day affair.
So now I am free to do whatever other surfing I choose to do online, like write blog entries. I still have at least one more of these to do today and then I shall be done with my paid posts for this week.
I love writing those paid posts and for this current pay period I will have made eighty dollars. That's a very nice addition to my power scooter fund. I really, really need that scooter.

I have not been all dressed up in a suit and tie for quite a few years now but I do remember the attire that went along with it, like cuff links. I like dress shirts that require cuff links, gives a man a chance to show off some bling, cuff links and tie pins are my kind of bling.
Of course besides the usual gold or silver cuff links men typically wear there are also some fun cuff links out there, like the super hero stamp cuff links, either Superman or Batman. Cute.

While on the phone with my wife she asked me to tell our daughter something that I didn't quite understand because all I really heard was cupcakes and something or other. So all I mentioned to the twenty year old girl was cupcakes.
Her eyes opened wide and I passed that along on the phone, as the girl is rather sleepy today so her eyes were not opened much until she heard the word cupcake. Then she started to smile! OMG, a smile!
I told my wife the girl was smiling and of course the girl started denying it in a voice loud enough that her Mom could hear. Then she took the phone and started denying it even more although she was smiling while talking lol
Something about cupcakes...Now I know how to make the child smile :-D

Cracks And Racks

I just finished writing about how humor helps in advertising then found this to giggle at, cracks and racks. It is on a website page that sells snowboard racks. I still have not found what the cracks are but it did make me laugh to look at the webpage.
Winter is coming soon whether we like it or not (I don't) and for many people that means snow or at least a trip to the nearest mountains to play in the snow. That's where snowboarding comes in, it is a popular past time in the snow.
Unless you have a very large truck though you are first going to have to find a way to carry your snowboards and other gear up to the snow. That's why you need a rack! Many snowboarders are also skiers so they have double the need for a rack and this website has racks that can carry both skis and snowboards together. Very convenient.

Traffic Is Boring

Since I surf a lot of exchanges I can tell you that frankly, traffic ads are boring. They lack imagination for the most part, posting statistics and pictures of money that you can make. They give you headlines that tell you how they want to make you a millionaire in 2012 or how one dollar can be turned into thousands without any effort at all.This is all fine and dandy if it is the truth but still, these ads generally just make me yawn.
It's time these folks learned some advertising sense. Sex and humor sell. They always did and they always will. Show me a pretty girl, even if it is just her smiling face, I will look at the ad more attentively. (I will really look at the ad if the girl has great legs lol).
Show me a funny picture, a dog where he shouldn't be with a forlorn face or even clowns with cream pies will do. I like to laugh as much as I like looking at pretty girls. Okay, maybe not quite that much but they are close lol
I know these people are trying hard to make a dollar, I am too. But, if they want my dollar they will have to try a little harder and use some imagination.

Trade Shows

There was a time when I thought it might be nice to retire from being a custodian and travel around the country doing trade shows and selling things there. My wife and I both thought this was a workable idea, find a product that would sell, go to trade shows and set up the booth and enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, Life and now my health has gotten in the way and that plan is just that, a plan.
There are a lot of people that are looking for work and that plan may just be workable for them. Trade shows always attract large crowds and, if you have a good product, you could make some serious money at these things.
Besides a great product you also would need some sort of trade show display booth. Easy to set up and take down after the weekend is over and still functional so that customers can see what you have to offer.
My wife and I were going to do something different so that we could do a variety of trade show types. We were going to sell removable tattoos. We sold these at the local swap meet and we did pretty good with them. People could get outrageous tattoos without worrying about getting them off lol
If you have a good idea about something to sell you should look into trade shows and booths. You can enjoy both making money and travelling which is always fun.

File Error

My daughter is not a very happy camper. She has been playing Plants VS Zombies on her computer for quite some time and has really advanced and gotten lots of things that she needs to destroy those awful zombie creatures.
A week or so ago she went to play the game and got an error message about some incorrect file or something and the game refused to load. Not good. She was angry and telling me that if she had to start that game all over from scratch she was going to be totally angry. Well, that wasn't her exact words but her words were not fit for this journal lol (Don't worry, she is 20 years old and can swear if she wants to).
After not playing the game for a week or so now she came to me this afternoon with the disk for the game in her hand and asked me, nicely, if I could reinstall the game when I had time. Guess she has figured that starting the game over is better than not playing it at all.
While my two girls were out to the store I went and removed the files that were user data files and the game loaded right away. Unfortunately deleting those files also deleted all the work that she and her mother had done while playing the game. She has to start over.
The good news is that, now that both of them are back to equal settings they have decided they will have a contest to see who can get the most stuff/highest levels etc. I have no idea what the game does, I have never played it. I hope they have fun so as to take away the horror of losing all their saved stuff.

POS stands for Point Of Sale. For laymans like me that translates to checkout counter usually. You know the place where someone kindly empties your wallet or bank account with a smile and a "thank you, come again" routine.
Checkouts are very automatic these days, with the items you want to purchase scanned for their bar codes and the cash register automatically puts the right price of the item into the add column and the cashier moves on to the next item to be scanned. Very efficient.
If you have a business that is brick and mortar (actual building, not an online business) then you either already have one of these machines or you are searching for one. How about the Epson TM-T88V? This is not a cash register type POS piece of equipment but rather a printer that prints out receipts once the cash register part has finished adding up your purchase.
This POS item is, for my money, more valuable than the cash register because every customer needs a receipt whether to prove to their business that they actually bought the items or, if by some chance something is amiss, they can return the item to the store and prove that they purchased the item there.

Okay, so I thought I would do something different with my requests for help getting a power scooter and I posted this blog link on Craigslist. Nothing special there, just the link to the blog with a header that says Please Help.
This morning I get an email from someone named Paul regarding that listing. All it said was "Get real, Pops". Does Paul think I am a scammer of some sort? Perhaps he does and that would be said if it is true. Has society become that black-hearted that we think all people are out to cheat others?
I replied to Paul with something simple, asking him what did he mean by get real. I also suggested that being charitable wasn't his thing at this point in time and may God bless him all the same.
Society just is not the same I suppose these days as it was in the past. Truely a shame.

Address Plaque

Where I live the city or the county usually comes along every few years and spray paints addresses on the curb so people can find the right address. This is okay usually but not always.
The house I currently live in is facing one street by the address is actually for a different street. The house that used to be here faced the other street and, when that house was demolished and this one built they faced it the other way. The postal office says I must keep the old address so I am stuck there. Whenever I order something and they ship it with UPS or Fed-Ex I always have to explain how to find my house. Sometimes once they get on the property they still cannot find the back house. What I need is an Address Plaque that I can put on this house.

One of the new chat rules that the boss made a few months ago says "No caps allowed". The old rule was that players could use caps sparingly but not for whole sentences. That rule was okay but the new rule is way too strict and we have pretty much adhered to the old rule because it is easier that way.
One of the newer Mods is very adamant about players following the rules, the new rules. I can understand that, that is our job to ensure that players follow the rules. However the past few days he has been overly strict about things.
He went so far as to jump another Mod in the lobby a couple of days ago and that was not cool. If Mods have problems with each other they should talk about it in private on Skype. Not in the lobby for everyone to see and laugh about.
Today a player used to letters in caps as an abbreviation of something and got warned. Ouch. I told the Mod on Skype I am afraid to talk in the lobby on his shift because I use a lot of caps. I was joking, of course.
We really need to get that caps rule altered before he totally angers all the regulars that talk on his shift.

Frustration

Last night I went to do my nightly Moderator duties and play a little. Logged in and discovered I have the chat lobby but no games. WTH?? Went onto Skype to talk to the other Mods to see what is going on and discovered I am the only one with this problem. Switched over to the laptop, same problem. My wife also could not get in.
So, I spent the hours looking at the lobby and trying various things like reinstalling the game software, reinstalling Java, restoring my computer to various points in time when everything was working and all I got was frustrated. Nothing I did solved my problem. Finally I gave up and went to bed.
This morning (actually a little past noon) I woke up, turned on the computer, logged into the game site and everything is working perfectly. Okay, I wasted all that time and energy for nothing. I am guessing the problem was not my computer systems but something on the game site end.
I'd complain to someone but I think I'll just be happy I can play my games again :)

Scrubs

When I was younger and went to a doctors office or the hospital seems like all the nurses ever wore was white. Once in a great while you might see one wearing a light blue, but that was rare. Everything for them was white and plain.
Thes days nursing scrubs have changed dramatically. It's as if they have decided it is okay for nurses to look fashionable. I am not complaining, white everything never looked all that appealing to me. Now days nurses can wear better looking scrubs, like this top:

See? Much better than plain old drab white! Not only is this a nice looking scrubs top I'd bet a woman could wear this just about anywhere and no one would even think about it being a scrub top.

We need a place to store all our stuff, which is why garages these days rarely hold automobiles, they are filled with our precious stuff. What we need are steel buildings that can hold our stuff, maybe even our vehicles.

I went out this afternoon, just a short walk to the garbage can. I went without my oxygen, because I didn't think I would need any for that short a distance. I was okay there although I was short of breath once I got back into the house. I admit I made it though.
After a few hours I decided to go out and pick up the mail. This is a bit longer trip, all the way across the street. I tried to walk slowly but I didn't accomplish this at all. I never have walked slowly and doing so drives me crazy. Okay, wait, I lied there. I once walked slowly, I was a little boy with little feet and couldn't even remotely keep up with my stepfather. He was tall and took some long strides!
I made it to the mailbox, already out of breath. Stopped for a moment, as if I was checking the mail, then turned to head back to the house. The neighbor was in the driveway so I didn't want to have to stop and be down close to the ground. I didn't want him to ask if I was okay and I really didn't want his puppy to bound towards me and maybe knock me over.
I made it to the trashcans to rest, throwing out one junk mail piece in the recycle can. That looked normal enough. Then I practically ran back to the back door, inside the house and over to my chair to the oxygen tube.
I really do need that air :(

Boots

Looking out my window I see lots of sunshine and a few clouds, pretty much looking like a typical Autumn day. But I know that these days will not last much longer, the evenings are already chilly and that can only mean one thing, Winter is coming soon. And, when Winter comes, bad weather will surely come along with it.
I am lucky here in the desert because we rarely get snow but in the Winter months we do get most of our annual rainfall so it will be cold and wet. Many people might be shocked to learn that it gets cold here in the desert but it does. It gets below freezing here at night and, often, in the morning hours it is not surprising to find ice on the sidewalks making for a slippery walk at best. This is the time of year that you need a great pair of boots, like the Lowa Tibet Pro Boot.
If I have trouble in the desert of Southern California I can only imagine the hardships of Winter for the other parts of the country, especially the East where months of heavy snow seem to be the norm for Winter. Go To Jail Already

I mentioned Ms. Lohan in an earlier post so will bring her up again. The woman just does not seem to understand the system at all. You either perform the community service you are ordered to do or you lose your probation and go to jail. The average person comprehends that quite well and we are thankful there is community service options. I don't know many people that would prefer jail to community service. Obviously Lindsey Lohan is different than the rest of us.
Perhaps she thinks that she is this rich and famous person and therefore should be above the legal system of this country. Perhaps she is an idiot. I have never met the woman so I cannot say for certain which of those is the truth. What I do know is based on what I hear or see in the news. Basically she has not followed the judges orders and is now facing jail time.
Personally I wish the judge would send her sorry butt to jail and get it over with. I get tired of rich whiny people that seem to think they are above the law because they are rich or famous. Good for you, sign autographs for the other prisoners and shut up.
From the looks of things she should have just done the jail time to begin with she would have been done by now. But, no, she'd rather waste the time showing up late and being reported as a no show by the place she was supposed to work at, spending time in court or with her lawyers, things like that.
I will say one thing for rich and famous folks, they sure like to waste the taxpayers dollars with court appearances.

There is no such thing in my house these days as privacy. My wife and I have conversations in low tones in the kitchen and get interrupted by the twenty year old in the living room. This isn't really all that new, she has been doing it for years. Personally I wish she'd get out of the habit.
Today my wife was telling me that once it got cooler she was going to take a trash bag and pick up some loose trash around the house. Part of it is trash that blows into the yard because of the high winds we get here in the desert. Part of it is trash that fell out while my daughter was taking out the trash she collected while cleaning her room. God forbid she should pick the trash up after it falls out of the bag.
As soon as she heard her name mentioned she told her mother she would go pick up the trash, Mom said no. That's when the argument started. Arguments always start that way around this household.
If we tell the child to do something she doesn't want to do she argues or she changes how it should be done. She just likes to be disagreeable to some things. It was okay when she was thirteen or fourteen, it is getting old now that she is twenty.
I really do wish she would stop listening to our conversations. If two people are talking in hushed tones she needs to learn that that means the conversation is none of her concern. I realize that my daughter is female and females often tend to be nosy but this is ridiculous.
No privacy in a household with children, whether that number be ten or one.

Sounds like I am going to write about relationships gone awry but I am not. Nor am I going to write about divorce. I am actually going to write something pleasant so hang on to your hats.

No, that is not some odd acronym in the title it is a word. It spells what most people these days spell as phooey. Either way, that describes my early morning.
I had a ride set up to take me to the clinic to get that lab work done. But two things got in the way.
First, I slept like a baby last night. No, I didn't wake up every two hours with a wet diaper, I just woke up every hour and a half to two hours. Not much rest in there.
Then I got up when the alarm went off and had coffee and smokes and did my best to wake up completely. What I got when I was fully awake was some serious stomach cramps.
So, I cancelled the ride to the clinic. Once again I have failed to get there. Dammit.

Rustic Furniture

My bed frame, part wood and part metal has finally decided to fall apart big time. I don't know why, it is only about 20 years old. Things just don't last forever like they used to. At any rate, it is time to go searching for a new bed so I went surfing and found this great website that sells rustic furniture, including beds.
I really like the looks of this one, the Lakeland Cedar Log Bed. It looks sturdy enough to last and there is enough room there for me, the wife and the bed hog dog. Gotta have that extra room for the terrier you know? This bed is made completely out of logs, no metal parts at all which seems good to me too.

I am still looking at watches because, as I posted before, my pocket watch is kaput. I like looking at watches and other types of jewelry or a combination of the two as in mens diamond watches.
You have to admit if you ask someone the time and they look at their wristwatch and show off something fancy looking like diamonds you are impressed. I know I am, how can anyone not be? I guess that is why Rolex watches were such a hit with wealthy folks for years, they dressed to impress.

Hormonal Raging

Life with two adult females is, to say the least, interesting. Most times are pleasant enough but if one is on their period things can get argumentative at best. If both of them are periodic these are the days I really wish I could leave the house and take a very long walk lol
One of my Facebook friends posted that he is going to be a daddy again and I congratulated him. Someone else posted that they have their fingers crossed that this baby is a girl. I almost feel like telling George that if he has a girl to enjoy that girl while she is still little. Because once those hormones kick in and she starts having her cycle God only knows what you will have on your hands, still an angelic creature or the Spawn of Satan.
I never have figured out what is up with hormones and teens. I raised four boys first time around and when they hit puberty they too were way different than they had been. Some were way too rowdy and argumentative (you'd think they were having a period lol) and some were just simply rebellious without wanting to fight you at every turn.
With my daughter she was a very sweet child until she started her cycle. Then she became, often, a little bitch from Hell. You couldn't say much that didn't totally upset her to the point where she would either want to scream and holler or she would cry. Sometimes I think that hormones are God's little joke on human beings.
I wish my friend George the best, no matter what gender he gets with this baby he is going to have his hands full eventually. I just hope the baby is born healthy and normal.

While I wear prescription lenses so I can see properly I am not against leaving the house in a regular pair of shades if they look cool enough. I can see okay in them I just cannot read without my regular glasses. If you're going to wear sunglasses they should definitely look cool, like the ones made by julbo.

As I wrote previously I have been using some traffic exchanges to advertise a couple of sites including this blog. And I have noticed a few odd things while surfing ads that truly make me go hmmmmm.....
Since there appear to be so many programs out there that will make you a millionaire with little or no money to start with why aren't there more wealthy people surfing the internet? And, if these programs work so easily and so well why are these millionaires still advertising it? Why aren't they relaxing somewhere? How man millions do you need to make to be happy?
Some of the ads allow you to add your own photo to make it seem more personal and that's not a bad thing. But, I wonder how many of these advertisers actually look at the photo they are using? I am amazed at how often the photos look more like mug shots from the police department than a personal photo. And on at least one ad there are two people pictured. I gotta say, when I first looked at it it made me laugh. They look more like they belong on a page that says "Have you seen these two serial killers?" My daughter looked at that ad and immediately wondered Why is that one in the woods? LOL
In spite of just how long the internet has been around there are still some that seem to think they are still advertising in magazines. They not only want your name and email address they want a telephone number. What the heck? Are they not only going to spam me to death they want to hound me like a telemarketer too? No thanks!

What these ads really need is to keep everything simple. Show me what you are advertising without making me scroll all over the page to figure things out. Simple is best.
Oh, yeah, they also need more pretty girls to look at so I actually want to look at the ads :)

Casters

Due to my failing health and difficulty getting around I find myself having to use a walker if I have to go outside and walk. I have a walker that was my late mothers but through the years I have used the wheels for other projects so those are missing and need to be replaced.
Looking for wheels I came across this website that sells wheels as well as casters. Casters are a nice item to find as well as we can all use those from time to time. Furniture casters always seem to be wearing out or at least all clogged up with hair and animal fur and whatever else lives on the floor. Soon you find your chair doesn't swivel or move as well as it did in the beginning and should be replaced.

Stomach Cramps

Ugh! I woke up today with some nasty stomach cramps. Maybe it's sympathy pains for my wife who is suffering through her monthly gift from Mother Nature. I just wish they would go away and quickly!
Speaking of that gift from Mother Nature, there is a blessing in that gift. Although she is suffering with nasty back pains and such, my wife has not complained about sinus headaches. She suffers with those every day due to her allergies so it's nice to get a break from those I am sure.

Boxing Week

I am not entirely certain what Boxing Week is other than six days wherein retailers have huge sales so that they have less inventory to count when it is inventory counting time. But, a sale is a sale and those are always good for consumers. More so, I suppose, right now because let's face it the economy is a bit sluggish at this time.
The Source, a website I have discussed in the past is now having a sale. From computers to gaming to TV and home entertainment, there are always lots of goodies at The Source. I like this store because they do offer such a wide variety of products. I never know what I am going to be looking for or when so a store like The Source is great for me. I am sure that this store will be great for you as well.
The Source also has an Outlet center where you can find such things as an Apple IPhone or an Iluv hi-fidelity speaker dock for the IPad, IPhone or IPod. They even have an Atomic wall clock that shows the temperature indoors so you can see why you need to turn on that air conditioner or heater.

Tired, Or Lazy

I am tired today, just as I was yesterday. Perhaps it is laziness but I don't think so this time.
I have been spending a lot of time online using traffic exchanges lately and looking at all those ads may be wearing me down. You know when your eyes get tired the whole body seems to follow.
But, I am more or less having fun with these exchanges, promoting one of the PTC sites that pays and also promoting this blog, as well as the game site I chat moderate on.
I haven't seen any real results yet from all this surfing but I shall try to be persistent and give the exchanges a chance. In the meantime I have earned a few dollars on them so that's a plus all by itself.
In the meantime, I am tired...

Time For A Change

These days, because I rarely ever leave the house due to my health, I do not get dressed. I prefer to lounge around all day like Hugh Hefner, in my pajamas. I did have to get dressed the other day though and one of the things I noticed right off is that my pocket watch has died. So, when I did go out I had no way to tell time other than to drag my cell phone out of my pocket and look at it. I miss having a watch when I am out.
I am looking at some beautiful michael kors watches on the Reed's Jewelers website and I am impressed. Because I am a very small man with a tiny wrist I often look at ladies watches because they fit me. I really like this one:

I like it for two reasons. One it is water resistant (never know when my hand and arm will get wet) and two because it has a purple wristband and watch face. I like purple and I am not afraid to wear that color, be it in jewelry or a shirt or even pants.
The website does have some excellent looking watches that look very stylish, just the sort of thing that you would expect to find on a jewelry website. They might be a little more costly than a department store but they do look like they will last a long, long time. Unlike my pocket watch which was bought at Walmart. I cannot complain about that pocket watch though, it says Dad on the face of it and was bought for me by my stepdaughter for Father's Day a couple of years ago.

Tried to go this morning to the bus stop so that I could go to the clinic and get the lab tests done that the doctor wants. Not happening, I failed :(
Felt okay when I woke up and all but barely made it to a fourth of the way down the second block. Not good :(
Looks like I am going to have to find a friend that can pick me up at the house and drive me over there. Cannot afford the cab fare for that distance :(
It sucks to get this old and crippled up :(

If you hadn't noticed I am feeling like quite the failure today :(

I can no longer leave my house without a lot of assistance so I am trying to save for one of these scooters:

This is why I am here on these traffic exchanges, to help me earn money. It's also why I use a lot of PTC sites. But, it is difficult to save money with a income of 1100 a month for a household of 3 people :(
So, I thought perhaps fellow surfers could help me get this scooter. I really miss being able to go anywhere. Heck, I had to take a taxicab just to go to the medical clinic 2 blocks from my house. That was a very, very sad day for me.

Doctor Visit Part 2

So I went to see the doctor. First off I embarrassed myself with a taxi driver. I thought the doctor's office was a tad farther from my house and didn't think I would be able to walk it so I called my usual taxi driver. He picked me up, I told him where I was going and he was wondering why I didn't just walk over there since it is less than three blocks from the house lol I felt really stupid!
The doctor visit went well. He gave me a quick exam and we spent some time talking, unusual for a doctor but nice to see. He gave me the usual stuff, reflexes, leg and arm strength, stuff like that.
Then we got down to brass tacks. We discussed the inhalers I have been using since I left the Er and he wrote me a new prescription for them. Wow! I was happy! I thought I was going to have to work hard to keep those. We also discussed my smoking which is always a given with doctors. He asked if my quitting was a possibility and I laughed and rolled my eyes. He just nodded and that was the end of that discussion.
He ordered a whole bunch of lab work that I must now do soon because he (and I) are curious as to why my weight has fallen quite so drastically. Twenty pounds is no big deal for most people but if you weigh 103 it is a very big deal indeed :(
So, lab work next, continue with the inhalers and the oxygen for however long I get to keep that and hopefully better health awaits...

Doctor Visit

Tomorrow is the day, I get to see the new doctor for the first time. I am hoping all goes well. He needs to see what a crippled up, out of breath, old geezer I am so I can continue to get the right medicines to help my breathing.
To that end I am going to leave my oxygen at home so that when I am there and he is listening to my lungs he can clearly see just how much I need the medicines and the inhalers.
Because I am not totally idiotic I will take the inhaler with me, in case of a real emergency. I also will take all the prescription information so he can see what it is I am taking and the one that I ran out of already.
The only hard part of this plan of action is to get out of the house without the oxygen. I went to cash my check on Friday and the daughter threw one hell of a fit when she found I was not planning on taking the oxygen tank. It was definitely one of those days when I wished she would remember she is twenty and I am sixty, not the other way around.
I am thankful though that she at least cares enough about me to throw a fit when I want to do things like that. We did end up taking the oxygen tank but it stayed in the taxi while I went into the place to cash the check and get the rent money order. I did not tell her that though, so both of us were happy :)
Wish me luck at the doctor's office...

Crazy Insurance Company

Okay, so I have been home for a few days, taking my meds and using the inhalers and the oxygen they sent home with me.
The company that gave me the oxygen when I left the hospital said on Monday they do not accept my insurance company and I would have to get it straight with my doctor. Told them I had an appointment next Tuesday and they say okay.
Yesterday another oxygen supply place showed up to deliver oxygen tanks and a machine. WTH? I didn't do it but thought the first company did and was thinking that was very good business customer service on their part. I was wrong, they didn't do it either lol
It appears that the hospital did it and I am thankful for that. So, first company came and picked up their equipment yesterday afternoon and all is good.
Got a call from doctor's office this morning. My appointment is NOT Tuesday. It is Monday! Hate getting old and not keeping better track of dates :(
