Video Conference

Once a month all of the Moderators on the game site get together online to talk about what is going on or what will be happening soon. We do this on Skype so that we can hear each other rather than labor over a multitude of text lines. This is important because, as humans, we all talk at the same time seems like and some of us talk really quickly.
One of the things that has been tossed around at these monthly meetings is how cool it would be if, instead of voice chat on Skype, we used video conferencing. This would allow us to not only chat like we do now but would also allow us to see exactly who is talking. Now, that would be nice to see.
It also would allow us to see just what these other moderators look like since some of them do not use their personal photos as avatars so you really don't know what they actually look like. I do use a personal photo so I know they all know how I look and I can only hope that they were not scared when they first saw it.
Video conferencing for us would be fun. For a business group it would be more serious but certainly something worthwhile. Talking on a phone is okay, but with video conferencing you could not only hear what the other person is trying to convey but you could also see the look on their face. So, if you thought they sounded excited you could see that clearly on their face and, hopefully, that excitement would rub off onto you and all the others in the video conference.
Video conferences can, I believe, be a true bonus for businesses, especially if your business is scattered around the globe. The only hard part would be setting a time when everyone is available. We have that problem as two of our moderators reside in Australia and their hours and days are very different than those of us that live in the United States. We manage to find a time that is fairly suitable for all and I'm certain that your business could do likewise.
Need to communicate with people? Then check out the services available on the website and see what video conferencing has to offer you and your business.

Faster Means Slow

One of the games I play on Facebook has had its share of bugs and glitches. They seemed to have everything fixed up for a long period of time and that was great. Now, whenever you go to start the thing the page says it is now faster than ever because they have listened to the players. Sounds good.
The game now loads slower than ever, like it did at the beginning of my playing it. Sometimes the characters are invisible or they walk backwards. Sometimes the food that I have been cooking is not there! Makes it hard to play the game this way.
Faster now means slower I guess in the tech world. Kind of like new and improved products that seem the same as they were in the first place.
I do hope that the folks at Zynga get it straightened out. I like playing that game but I don't want to spend that much time waiting for everything to load properly.
Do me a favor, tech people...don't improve things. Listen to the old adage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Wasteful

A week ago I ordered a new mouse from Tiger Direct on Ebay to use with this laptop. I guess my finders are just not sensitive enough to use the mouse pad on the laptop, it keeps thinking I am trying to click things when I am not, so I needed a regular mouse.
The mouse just came, the UPS man brought it to the door, knocked, and left it there een tho my wife was coming to answer his knock.
This little mouse came in a box that i could fir my laptop in for crying out loud. That's just wastefulness at it's worst. I expected a small box, just the mouse. I got a medium sized box with the mouse inside and a lot of wrapping type paper.
Come on Tiger Direct! I like your company but there is no need to be so wasteful! Your shipping department is showing that it doesn't care about the environment and that's not nice.

Diamond Jewelry

One of my online buddies from my game site lives in Florida and has just come back from a few day trip to Key West where he had a wonderful time visiting with friends and family. He also has a girlfriend and so I have to wonder if his trip to Key West did not also include a visit to Key West jewelry to perhaps check out their selection of diamond jewelry and engagement rings. He really hasn't said much about his trip which is unusual so I have to wonder, although I am not going to pry like a nosy busybody.
You do not have to live in Florida to avail yourselves of the fine jewelry that is available. Diamonds International, the company that runs Key West has various locations around the country and some in the Caribbean Islands. And, of course, you can shop online there as well.
Just for visiting the site you can also choose some free jewelry. You know me, I love the word free! For instance you can get this lovely bracelet for just the $4.45 shipping costs:

If you are in the market for fine jewelry I strongly suggest that you check out the items at Key West and make your lover or even yourself very happy.

Music And Cake

I was sitting here writing the last blog entry while my wife was looking at some Avon magazines that were just dropped off a little while ago. Suddenly she starts to chuckle so I have to ask what is so funny in that Avon book. A musical cake server.
Now, I am surprised that my wife would laugh at such a thing. From a male standpoint, I just roll my eyes at such things, thinking this must be a woman thing.
The only time I can think of when you have music and cake is birthdays and you have just sung Happy Birthday to the birthday person so why on earth would you need a musical cake server?
There must be some reason that I haven't thought of and there must be lots of folks out there that think this is a great idea otherwise I am certain that it would not be in an Avon book.
Must be a woman thing...

Free Love

Everything seems to be computerized these days. Our lives are run by computers, from work to the cars that we drive. So, why not love? We are all busy, and many people spend almost their entire day online. Makes it hard to meet someone and ask them for a date. This is why there are so many free online dating sites out there.
Are you Zyngle (that's pronounced single by the way)? Looking for love in all the wrong places? You'd like to try these online dating services out but you just don't have the time or the inclination to fill out long-winded surveys and questionairres about yourself. Zyngle makes the process of online dating simple.
Just answer a few simple and easy questions, upload a photo of yourself and you're done. The Zyngle matchmaking system will then suggest possible matches in your area. The rest is up to you and them.
Online dating has been around for a long time. But Zyngle has only been around for about a year, making it the new kid on the internet block. But, don't let their newness worry you. Internet people are always there when it comes to new so you are bound to find lots of people out there just like you, looking for a date and a relationship.
The best part of Zyngle? It is absolutely free. No money out of your pocket for them means that you'll have more to spend on a date once you find a match that you like. Free is always good!
