Almost

Woke up this morning and felt okay. Ear still plugged though and that bugs me. I tried allergy medicine yesterday to see if that would help but all it seemed to do was dry up my nose. Oh great LOL
After I had a cup of coffee I started hacking like there was no tomorrow, getting rid of a lot of mucus though so it was worth it. Suddenly, my ears popped! Hooray! I thought.
Unfortunately, several minutes later they closed back up again, back to where they were. The left ear is about 80 percent clear and the right one is like I am deaf. But, the important thing is that I now know for certain that the ear plugging is connected to the crud that refuses to leave my system.
There is hope!

Drool

Babies drool. Some people that have little to no control over their facial muscles drool. Really old people drool. So, why me? Have I, at sixty, become really old? Have I lost control of my facial muscles?
I have noticed that I have started to drool, a lot, when I am sleeping. I am hoping it is simply due to the cough drops I have been sucking on as I fall asleep so as to not keep my wife awake all night long with this silly cough. A cough, I should add, that is quite violent at times. I've had it since I got pneumonia and it hasn't gone away yet, still hacking away at whatever phlegm is still residing deep within me. It is upsetting though to awaken every day with a beard that is all wet and sticky.
I suppose I could just blame it on old age but I don't want to think of myself as being "that" old.

Smoking

Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette!
Puff, puff, puff and if you puff yourself to death
Tell Saint Peter at the Golden Gate
That you hate to make him wait
But you just gotta have another cigarette!

This was a popular country-western song when I was a kid. I woke up with it in my head this morning and so I thought I'd do a post about smoking. I have two bits of advice for you if you are a smoker:
First, if you are still young, or haven't had the habit long, QUIT! Not only is it good for your health, it is good for your wallet too! Cigarettes are expensive. Almost five dollars a pack here where I live. Look at all the money you'll save by giving them up :)

Second, if you are an old guy like me, having smoked for more years than are good for a body, here's a tip that may help you with that awful morning hacking we all do. When you retire for the evening, put a cough drop in your mouth and let it dissolve. Preferably a cough drop like Hall's vapor type. I notice that on the days I do this I hack and cough a lot less when I wake up the next day. Not sure why, but am thankful I found this out :)
