Keep It Safe

Many, many people these days carry weapons. Perhaps it is because we seem to be living in such a violent society. Perhaps it is also because there never seems to be enough police personnel available. They cannot be everywhere, you know?
If you are one of these people that carry a handgun or a taser then you need something to carry that weapon in and uncle mikes holsters has the solution for you and your weaponry.
Holsters are designed to provide easy access to your gun as well as safe carrying. Uncle Mike's holsters has a wide selection of holsters to provide a range of possibilities for how to carry your gun, whether you require hip, shoulder or other carrying options.
Don't trust your weapon to a pocket or purse. Holster it so you feel safe. Hopefully the only time you will ever need to take it out of that holster will be to clean it. But, if you do need it, it will be there!

Man says cell phone saved him from stray bullet

COVINGTON, La. (AP) - R.J. Richard says he doesn't normally put his cell phone in his chest pocket. But he says it saved his life the one time he did.

The 68-year-old man from Covington, La., was mowing the lawn on his 5-acre property when a stray bullet from nearby woods struck that cell phone. He figured a rock kicked up by his tractor hit him. That is, until he took out the phone and a .45-caliber bullet fell from its case.

Richard told The Times-Picayune of New Orleans he doesn't think it was a coincidence, either.

"I look at this as God telling me to put my cell phone in that pocket, and I'm grateful and humbled," he said.

Doctors told Richard the bullet came at an angle, which along with the cell phone probably prevented serious injury.

Deputies are investigating the case, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain said. He said the case should serve as a serious warning that people should consider the consequences before firing a gun.

However, Strain said investigators don't believe the shooting was intentional.

Don't Mess With Preachers!

CINCINNATI (AP) - A 71-year-old Cincinnati preacher has been convicted of aggravated menacing, after another motorist said he waved a gun and cursed at her. Thomas Howell could get up to six months in jail on the misdemeanor charge when he's sentenced Sept. 4.

Howell says he was on his way to First Commandment Church of the Living God in the East Walnut Hills neighborhood when April Evans cut him off on June 23. During Monday's trial, Howell testified that he has a gun and permit but denied ever removing the weapon from its holster.

But a Hamilton County municipal court judge sided with Evans, who said the preacher threatened to shoot her and called her names as their cars chased each other.

Guns and People Don't Mix

Unsuccessful Robber Shoots Self in Foot

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities said an unsuccessful robber shot himself in the foot … by shooting himself in the foot. Police said Kelvin Ethelbert Roberts, 28, botched his plans to rob a Cherryville convenience store by accidentally shooting his right foot.

According to an arrest warrant, Roberts dropped a .45-caliber handgun in front of Gasland USA on Sunday. The gun hit the ground and went off, a bullet striking Roberts in the foot.

Roberts faces several charges that include attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. Police said the handgun had been altered to fire .410 shotgun shells.

Authorities said Roberts was in illegal possession of the gun because of his felony cocaine possession conviction in 2002 in Chautauqua County, New York.

Cherryville is about 40 miles northwest of Charlotte.
