I moderate a chat room on a game site as my loyal readers know. I have the shift from 9 p.m. to midnight Pacific Time. A large percentage of the players are on the Eastern side of the country as well as many foreign players with much different time zones. One of the things I have noticed about a lot of these players is that they say goodnight in the chat lobby but are back a short while later saying that they cannot sleep.
Most adults have experienced insomnia or sleeplessness at one time or another in their lives. An estimated 30%-50% of the general population are affected by insomnia, and 10% have chronic insomnia. So, given the statistics, I should not be surprised that so many of our game players suffer from it. But I also wonder why these players do not get a cure for their sleeplessness. How difficult is it to talk to someone about an insomnia treatment?
If I could not sleep on a regular basis I would certainly be asking my doctor for help. At the very least I would be scouring the internet for a solution. Of course this would take hours and hours and I would, like my players, be distracted by other things like playing games.
But, all is not hopeless! There is a place where you can go to find helpful information that you can use to get yourself some much needed sleep. The products that they review on their site on non Rx meaning no prescription is necessary, meaning you won't have to talk to a doctor if you do not wish to do so.
Take a few moments to check out the website, find a product that is right for your needs and get ready to enjoy some decent sleep for a change. A good nights sleep will make you a much healthier person in the long run.

What's The Point?
Every night my daughter tells either myself or her mother "good night, I'm going to bed because I am very tired." Within minutes, the light is on or the television set or she is in the kitchen looking for something to eat or drink. Several hours later she is still awake, determined not to go to sleep, even though it was her idea in the first place.
What is the point of saying good night if you have no intentions of going to bed or sleep? I'd be willing to bet that if she was told to stay awake she'd be asleep in minutes.
When she did this silliness as a child, it was defiance and rebelliousness, pure and simple. Now she is nineteen and has no need to rebel.
So, what is the point? Is this her generation saying I just don't care about anything? Is this just her being a pain in the butt? Matters not as its her life, she can waste it all she likes at this point in time.
She is planning on getting into better shape so that she can join the Army. I wish her the best of luck there, since the Army is not all that nocturnal an organization. They are not going to care that she forced herself to stay awake until 3 a.m. or later. They are just going to force her out of bed and yell orders at her all day long.
Maybe, after the Army gets through with her she'll sleep at night. Until then, what's the point of saying that you're tired and going to bed and sleep? LOL

Ah, Sleep
In the chat room areas of a site that I play on the moderators are in charge of making sure that players all abide by the rules. It isn't that tough a job, usually, and things tend to run rather smoothly. In the past couple of months though we have lost several moderators for various reasons and this means that the remaining mods need to take up the slack and fill in those times. For many of these mods I notice that they are not sleeping as normal, and so I often see people in the rooms that should be sound asleep but are not. Asked why they are still hanging around they always say the same thing, "couldn't sleep".
A lot of people would simply take a sleeping pill and doze off. But, many people these days are afraid of sleeping pills because they fear they may become addicted to them. They want a more natural way to get some sleep help. They truly desire natural sleep aids.
Unfortunately for people these days they just don't seem to have the time nor the inclination to do a lot of research on anything, let alone natural sleep aids. So, instead they are awake half the night or longer, surfing the web or just hanging around chat areas like our moderators do. How they perform their other daily things, like work or shopping or taking care of kids, when they are too tired is beyond me.
I will send these people to sleeping aids dot net website. They have already done the required research and found natural products that can help people fall asleep.
The research is based on a variety of criteria, from overall value to safety of the product to company reputation to sleep aid potential. All the things one truly needs to know about such a product.
Once they find the product they like, and purchase it, they should be able to get a great nights sleep and leave the computer off so that it can rest too. And, more importantly, they won't be there on the site telling me that they cannot sleep.

Just like Valentine
Valentine is my dog. He's around 17 years old now, and the poor thing can hardly stand up and walk. All he wants to do these days is lay down and sleep. Give him food and water and he'll take it but likely will fall down while doing it, poor thing. Imagine a cow tipping over onto its side, that's how Val looks when he falls.
The sad part, today? Although I am not falling over sideways, I feel just like my dog. Old and tired. All I want to do is sleep. I thought animals were supposed to be like their owners, not the other way around lol

Some Days Are Not Worth It
Some days I swear I'd be better off staying in bed. Either my head is fuzzy or my body feels like crap. So much fun to get old. Not!
Today is one of the fuzzy head days. I'm awake, been up for a couple of hours now, but I just don't have the sharpness to my thinking that I should. I woke up several times before actually getting out of bed and was more clear headed then than now. Maybe I should have gotten out of bed then lol
Since I need to be able to think I guess I will try another cup of coffee and a cigarette. May not help, but it certainly won't hurt. If all else fails, I can always go and take a nap. Retirement life allows me that :)
You know, I always did like the expression "shoulda stood in bed"

Special Day, Today!
Today is my son Patrick’s birthday :) He is all of 41 today! And, I actually remembered to send him a message wishing him Happy Birthday. I always think of his birthday, before and after, the day but rarely on the day! Must be my old brain malfunctioning LOL
Like all of my stepsons, Patrick lives far away from the desert, preferring places that are very wet and very green. He has a wonderful job and makes a good living so I can’t complain about his location :)
The rain has stopped here, finally, and it appears to be very sunny today. Headed for warm by the middle of the week and I can’t complain about that either! I like warm, not wet and cold :)
Other than that, it is peaceful today. I slept almost twelve hours last night, and I feel lethargic this morning. Not sure why that is. I hope I am not getting sick again. Maybe I’ll feel better after I eat some breakfast. So, on that note, I leave this blog to go pester the cook :)
