Oh Oh!

I am using the laptop that I bought for my wife these days. It is incredibly slow and has some difficulty loading pages as well as programs. But, it is better than nothing at all, I guarantee that :)
The desktop computer has bitten the dust. I tried to fix an older desktop but I managed to fry that one :( Fired it up and smelled something burning. That's not good at all.
So, here I am, typing away on this small laptop. The keyboard and my fingers do not seem all that compatible, especially if typing in a hurry which I usually am.
I did find a very nice desktop on Ebay that I want to buy. It's basically the same as the desktop that has died. One gig of RAM and a 40 Gig hard drive. And it is fairly reasonable, only $120 with free shipping.
All I have to do is figure out how to get my PayPal account to let me spend my money. I have no bank account and no credit cards. I bought a gift card and am hoping to get that to work long enough for me to buy the new computer. Time will tell.
In the meantime, I am using this with roughly half a meg of memory. Slowly but surely I get online and do what I need to do.

Still No Desktop

My desktop crashed a few days ago and I have been using our laptop to do the things I need to do online like work my chat moderating shift on a gaming site. I miss the desktop :(
I bought this laptop primarily for my wife because I seem to always be on the computer, day and night, and she wasn't getting enough time to do the things she wanted to do. It's an older laptop with only a half a meg of memory but it works okay for her stuff as well as our daughters stuff. I wish it were faster, but, hey, any port in a storm, ya know?
My wife has hardly used this laptop while the daughter has used it to death. The monitor rarely ever works on it anymore, I think it got youtubed out LOL. At the moment it is hooked into the desktops monitor so I can see what I am doing.
I'm somewhat scared to pull the monitor plug because I'm not that sure it will work on the laptop again when I need to do my shift. Unfortunately I cannot fix the desktop without the monitor. GRRR.
I truly want to fix that desktop though as it has more memory and is a whole lot faster than the laptop. It also has the keyboard that I seem to be better able to type on. This keyboard is not Franklin friendly lol
At least I can get online and do the necessary things, like update my blog, so I am happy enough for the moment.

Baldwin Hardware

I have two females that live in this house, a wife and a nineteen year old daughter. Both of them have this habit of hanging their purses, bags or backpack type bags on the door handles. This house was brand new when we moved into it and a year and a half later not a single one of the doors seems to work properly. I blame this on their bags.
Like most females, my wife and daughter carry a lot of unnecessary things in their bags, like books, which are heavy. In out old house with old fashioned round doorknobs their hanging the bags routine seemed okay on the doors. Perhaps this was because it was a really old house and when that house was built everything in it was sturdier than things are today.
Even though I rent this house I have the feeling that it won't be long before I am forced to replace some of the door knobs and fixtures. It's not the owners fault that my women have their habit, it's mine. Fortunately for me I have found this site that sells Baldwin hardware. They have a lot of different types of door fixtures and knobs over there and I am certain that I will find exactly what I need, something that can withstand the weight of female purses.
This house has, like most newer houses these days, levers as doorknobs. The front and back are normal doorknobs (round) but everything inside the house is levers. Thankfully I can get both types at the website for Baldwin hardware. I know I am going to need them.
They accept a variety of payments too, which is nice. they even accept payment through my favorite place to pay, PayPal. I'm going to bookmark this website and start planning now so that I am well prepared when one of my womenfolk come to tell me that they have just tried to hang their purse on a door and the knob has fallen off. It's simply a matter of time.

What's The Point?

Every night my daughter tells either myself or her mother "good night, I'm going to bed because I am very tired." Within minutes, the light is on or the television set or she is in the kitchen looking for something to eat or drink. Several hours later she is still awake, determined not to go to sleep, even though it was her idea in the first place.
What is the point of saying good night if you have no intentions of going to bed or sleep? I'd be willing to bet that if she was told to stay awake she'd be asleep in minutes.
When she did this silliness as a child, it was defiance and rebelliousness, pure and simple. Now she is nineteen and has no need to rebel.
So, what is the point? Is this her generation saying I just don't care about anything? Is this just her being a pain in the butt? Matters not as its her life, she can waste it all she likes at this point in time.
She is planning on getting into better shape so that she can join the Army. I wish her the best of luck there, since the Army is not all that nocturnal an organization. They are not going to care that she forced herself to stay awake until 3 a.m. or later. They are just going to force her out of bed and yell orders at her all day long.
Maybe, after the Army gets through with her she'll sleep at night. Until then, what's the point of saying that you're tired and going to bed and sleep? LOL

You Did, What?

According to the television commercials I have seen, along with ads on my computer, it appears that everyone these days owns a laptop computer, including school age children.
As a parent of five, I have gone through a multitude of computer keyboards, mice, desktops, clothing, jewelry, you name it my kids have probably either lost it or ruined it. It's what kids do, just part of Life. I know because I was the same way as a kid.
But, a laptop is not cheap. It's not like a sweater or a coat or even a necklace that you can run to the store and replace fairly easily. These things are costly. I know that I would never give a laptop computer to a child to take to school, but that's just me. Many parents do and, in some lucky cases the school provides laptops. But what happens if your child makes a mess of things? That is where student laptop insurance comes in.
Laptop insurance covers just about everything you'd need, from accidental damage to natural disasters. And, it is very affordable, certainly cheaper than replacing that laptop all by yourself. Like any other insurance policy, it will give you peace of mind that you are not left holding the bag if bad things happen.
If you have a student with a laptop, or even an IPad, then you need to check out the benefits of this insurance for yourself.
Just remember, no matter how perfect your child is, accidents happen.

Unreliable

One of the Mods at the game site started out okay but has steadily gone downhill quickly. It's not bad when he is late because of his job, that's understandable, a paycheck is what's needed to feed your family, fun can always come later.
In the past week or so he has really become unreliable. First he was there and acting like a dictator, threatening everyone with losing their chat privileges then insinuating to one player that he was part of the Support staff (which we are not!). This player had told him that the lobby chat had been copied and sent to Support so they could see what kind of a Mod they had on their hands. Not good.
A couple of days ago he said he would be late for his shift but would stay later and help cover the 3 a.m. shift. That sounded okay to me so I stayed a while longer than usual to help his partner. Then yesterday his partner told me that the guy came into the lobby for a few minutes and disappeared. At 3 a.m. the regular Mod had computer troubles so the Mod on duty told him to go fix the problem and he would stay and cover the lobby. The Mod that said he would be late and cover the next shift? Nowhere to be found :(
Last night he was on duty for a short period of time then disappeared again. This time it bit him in the butt as the Mod boss was in the lobby.Seizing the opportunity to let her know (without me telling her directly) that he was screwing up I had a friend go into the lobby and ask for the Mod who is supposed to be there. The following convo appeared:
D - 969) true
t(848) dam i just missed that allin
t(848) lol msp
t(848) f still here???
msP(MOD - 893 not seen him
b(MOD - 965 Haven't seen him for a while T
t(848) k tks
S(MOD ADM - 987) >no?
G(MOD - 823) me either
S(MOD ADM - 987> he was on earlier
S(MOD ADM - 987 ok thxs guys

S, the boss, immediately left the lobby and logged into Skype. I knew she was looking for f but she wasn't going to find him as he was not on. His partner had already tried to tell him the boss was around and he didn't answer.
I do not know what is going to happen to f but I sure am glad I am not in his shoes. I was still in the lobby at the end of his shift (3 hour shift) and f still had not returned. Very unreliable person and I will not be surprised if he shows up today as a regular player and not a Mod.

Not Too Early

If you are one of those people that wait until the last possible moment hoping for a new celebrity or political scandal then you do not need to read this blog article. If you are a normal person, then please continue.
I realize that it is the end of July, it's hotter than Hades where you are and your clothing thoughts are as little as the law will let you get away with. Your idea of a party is out on the patio with the barbecue and, if you are very lucky, the swimming pool. For some of you, the family enjoyment of the summer might just be hosing down the kids with the garden hose. Whatever makes your kids happy, that's what counts.
But, that dreaded month of October is coming. That month when your kids will all be wondering why they didn't get to dress up as their favorite character because Mom and Dad waited too long and all the good kids halloween costumes are now long gone from the shelves. But, it does not have to end in this scenario.
Buycostumes.com has a wide selection of kids costumes like Transformers, Buzz Lightyear and Ironman along with the more traditional costumes. Wouldn't it be nice for once to have that costume early and not have to worry about picking through what's left and listening to a whiny child? Of course it would!
So, take a break from the summer activities and check out the costumes for your child now. It's online so it won't take that long. Order the one you want and then you are all set for Halloween and can take that pressure off your mind.
Then, once you have that all finished with, go outside and enjoy some summertime fun with your kids, even if it is just to squirt them down with the garden hose. Enjoy the wonderful sounds of children laughing and giggling.
