Mother's Day is next Sunday, already! I still haven't bought any gifts for my wife, mainly because I haven't left the house to go anywhere except for my trip the other day that was such a disaster.
Guess I best figure out something and I best figure it out quickly as today is Thursday!
I surely do not wish to wake up on Sunday morning and be in hot water. Heck, I hate to wake up any day and be in hot water with my lovely wife.

Green Smoke
Since I have been ordered by my city's inspector to stop smoking inside the house I have wondered how to get around such an order without getting myself into trouble. I mean, at the moment it is 90 degrees and sunny outside, nice day for being out so smoking outside isn't a problem. But, what about when the weather is cold, or rainy? So, I have begun to look more closely at these things called e cigs.
This one says that they are just like a normal cigarette but without the ashes or the smell of cigarette smoke. Also there is no need to light them, they run on rechargeable batteries. I can sit here at my computer getting some cigarette satisfaction and never worry about who comes to my door. Check out the video:

As you can see in the video, none of the smokers seem to be suffering any lack of smoking enjoyment. In fact they seem to be having a wonderful smoke! If you, like me, are tired of being hassled about smoking no matter where you go (or even in your own home) then you need to check out these e-cigs for yourself.

House Inspection
The landlady and a man from the city came by this morning to inspect the property and the house. I knew that were coming and we all tried to do our best to make the place look presentable. Hard to do sometimes when we are somewhat on the casual side as far as housekeeping goes.
Mostly the man wanted to make sure the house was safe, was there easy access to get out in case of an emergency, did we have smoke detectors, stuff like that. I have no smoke detectors so he told the landlady she will have to get and install them, two of them. Good, as this is money I will not have to spend.
He did do one thing that rather irked me as it really is not a safety issue not any of his business. He told me (not asked) to stop smoking inside my house! I am not sure my city has the right to do that, but I agreed, if nothing else to humor the man.
He told me he will be back within the next thirty days to make a surprise inspection. I am sure that is to make sure that the house owners do put in the smoke detectors.
I hate surprise visits from people like this but I will survive, I'm positive of that. The one thing I do realize is, when he does make that visit, I better be outside smoking my cigarette!

Conspiracy?
Seems to me like every time a famous or infamous person dies, no matter how they died, conspiracy fanatics come out of the woodwork. Osama Bin Laden is no exception.
Got up this morning and my wife was watching a video somewhere and the man was explaining that he believes Bin Laden has been dead for years, all those videos were a hoax, etc. As is often the case with these theories, what he said makes sense. I'm sure others will come out and dispute all that he said and put forth their own theories instead.
Frankly, I do not care when or how the man died. His death neither makes me happy nor sad, he is dead and many people are rejoicing. That is up to them. For me it is simply a matter of not being his judge. It is not my duty to judge another human being, I leave that up to God.
In the meantime, many people will come up with various and sundry theories about the man and his death and explicit items they wish had happened to him instead of whatever did happen. People are just that way.

Custom Laptops
I just bought a laptop computer a couple of months ago, after agonizing over the price and what I wanted and all that jazz. I thought I did pretty well given my financial circumstances. But, some of my friends disagree telling me I should have waited a little longer and gotten a custom laptop.
There are some very fine laptops on this website, like this beauty, the Howard 1681. What A Day
I had to go to the check cashing place today to cash my retirement check and get a money order so I can pay the rent. No big deal, nothing out of the ordinary, or so I thought.
I called a cab driver who had given me his card last month and he said it would be about 45 minutes before he could come and pick me up. I agreed, no biggie. Thirty minutes or so later I went outside to wait since it was a nice, warm, sunny day. And I waited, and then I waited some more. Ugh. An hour after the first call I called him again and he apologized, said he was still waiting on a customer and he would come pick me up pretty soon.
Ninety minutes after the first call I was still waiting. He called and apologized again, said he'd be there in five minutes. About that time I saw a cab coming down my street so I hailed it but it was the wrong cab. Damn! He told me he had just seen my cab driver getting gas so I thanked him and went back to the side of the road to wait.
A minute later I saw another cab turning the corner and I thought, hooray he is finally here. Then I saw a guy jumping into the cab and I was thinking Oh, no you don't! I went out into the street so that the cab driver could see me and he stopped and just said hop in, which I did. I didn't want to wait any longer!
The guy that had jumped in down by the corner store was going way across town. Ugh. But, we took him home first then took me to the check cashing place. Jerry, the driver was so sorry for the delay.
He told me it took forever to get to me because the other customer was a woman that was ordering a cake and made him wait for her. She took an hour in that shop doing whatever it is they did for that cake. Jerry was so apologetic that I had waited so long and all the BS that he only charged me for one way passage, from the check cashing place back to my house. That was very nice :)
But, what a day! I feel sorry for myself having to wait so long but I feel sorry for Jerry too, things like today can really ruin customer relationships.
