Grumpy? Me?

My wife is upset with me, again. Says I am grumpy. Again. She was trying to read me something I could care less about while I was writing a blog post and she said to heck with me being grumpy and not paying attention to her and she left the room.
Came back a little while later asking if I was more congenial. I said I was okay but she left the room again.
I cannot win if I am grumpy or nice! lol
I shall be very happy when she is feeling better so we can go back to normal.

Getting Worse

Looks like the wife is feeling worse rather than better :(
She got lots of rest and sleep yesterday and last night but this morning she is still full of mucus and now has a terrible headache. Not good.
The child is still sounding like she is sick but I did let her leave the house this afternoon to go get some food. Sick or healthy we still have to eat! Sent her out for pizza, hope that will satisfy both of my sick girls.
Waiting for word on one of the Mods too. Yesterday her blood pressure went up sky high and doctor ordered her to hospital. Looks like her kidneys are failing :( Definitely not good.

Grrrrrumpy

My wife has just left the room and gone into the bedroom, closing the door behind her. This is never a good sign for me.
I had just finished telling her that she does not look like she is feeling good, does not sound like she is feeling good and she is not friendly. I also said I think both she and the daughter need to take some Nyquil and go back to bed.
Now she left and is hiding in the bedroom. Looks like I better get off this computer for a few minutes and go soothe some ruffled feathers.
OOPS

Now It's Winter

Yes, the calendar says Winter started a few days back. It always says when Winter starts, that is what calendars are for.
But, in my house I know that Winter is truly here, both of my girls are sick with a cold. Ugh.
Bad thing is that my wife thinks she might be better off sleeping in a recliner in the living room so that she does not pass the cold on to me. She's scared I will get sick and go back to the hospital. I hope that doesn't happen :(
Hope all of you are feeling healthy. Stay warm and avoid people that are coughing and sneezing!

Too Much

Last night I had the coughing fir from Hell. It lasted over two hours! Just when I thought it was winding down it would start back up again.
There was a silver lining to that black cloud thous. I coughed up an enormous amount of phlegm that I hope is what has been stuck down there all Winter. I know that's gross, but at least I got rid of it and that made me feel better.
The other good thing was that during all that time of coughing I didn't smoke. That's a good thing too!
This morning I woke up feeling a lot better than I have felt in a while so that is truly a blessing. I just want this crud that has been in my system all Winter to go away and leave me alone.
I am living that awful saying, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!

Long Winter

This year seems to be quite different than past years. Perhaps because I have been hospitalized twice this Winter. But, it's hard to avoid being ill, this Winter has been way too long and does not seem to be ending any time soon.
Right now it is very cloudy outside and windy and way too cold for the time of year. Tomorrow it may snow! What the heck is going on with my desert? It already snowed early on in the Winter, no need for it to do that again. I know that the snow will melt quickly but I see no need for any of it LOL.
I am feeling better every day which is certainly a good thing. I hate being sick like anyone else does but I also hate more having to go to the hospital. The ambulance ride is not that much fun and having the oxygen mask on one's face is NO fun at all.
The one blessing of the last hospital visit is that they did an echo cardiogram of my heart and it appears to be in excellent shape according to the technician doing the testing. Heart problems run in my family so I was very relieved to hear that. I also was amazed at just how fast that heart of mine was pumping! I have always had low blood pressure and watching my heart pump that quickly makes me wonder how fast a heart would pump with high blood pressure. No wonder high blood pressure patients have so many heart problems.
Now I am off to drink some coffee and try to stay warm against these harsh Winter conditions. I wish someone would tell Mother Nature that it is almost March, time to be getting warmer, not staying so cold.

Sleep?

My first night back from the hospital was not as pleasant as I had hoped it would be. Yes, it was very nice to be home with my family and online with my friends doing things on the computer.
I plugged in the mattress warmer to help me stay warm, that part was nice too. It must have been nice, I had trouble getting my wife to move over to her side of the bed! lol
The doctor gave me 4 prescriptions to get filled. Two were pills and two were inhalers. Of the four I could only afford to get one filled. That was a pill so that was okay. The other pill, an antibiotic, was well over a hundred dollars! No way I have that kind of cash laying around. The two inhalers, Spiriva and Advair, I knew I couldn't begin to afford them either so I wasn't concerned with their cost. But, wow, a hundred bucks plus for the antibiotic? What world do these doctors live in? Certainly not mine.
I went to bed thinking how nice it would be to sleep back in my own bed, warm and comfy. The bed was warm and comfy but I could not fall asleep. I coughed only a couple of times so it wasn't that. I did doze off and on but it wasn't restful slumber. Finally around 5 a.m. I fell into a nice deep sleep and stayed that way for quite some time. I got up around noon because I really had to empty my bladder. Otherwise I might have stayed in bed longer.
One thing that I do well (normally) is sleep. When that sleep pattern is disturbed I am not a happy camper. I love to sleep! Hopefully tonight will be a better night.

I Am Back Again

Just got home from the hospital after another four day visit. Not as bad as December when I had pneumonia, but they kept me there anyways.
This time they are blaming my breathing trouble and the terrible coughing attacks I had that sent me to the ER on my COPD. Nice easy way out for them since they could not find anything wrong LOL
There was one bright spot in the entire thing though. I got the doctor to check my ears to see if there is a reason that they are still plugged up. He looked into both ears and says there is nothing wrong with the ear mechanisms or whatever. They are still plugged because my sinus system is still plugged. He is certain that, once I finally get rid of all the phlegm in my sinus system that my ears will return to normal. If that does not happen he suggested I get a hearing test.
Oh well, at least I am home with my lovely wife and daughter. And, I really love being home. I am not a patient person and being a patient in a hospital just drives me up the wall. I am a crabby patient :(

Stuffed Or Unstuffed?

Back in very late November I got sick and by the beginning of December I had already had the "pleasure" of an ambulance ride to the Emergency Room where the ER doctors figured out I had pneumonia. It is now February and I still had not fully recovered from that sickness and my sinuses have been pretty much plugged up the whole time. My ears are still out of whack.
My daughter came down with another cold a week or so ago (this is how I got sick in the first place) and, of course, I had to get sick again. If there is a loose germ floating around this house my body will find it, I guarantee that!
This time is different though as my nose is, most of the time, running like there is no end to the mucus to get rid of. I cursed my stuffiness and now am ready to curse at being unstuffed. Some folks are just hard to please.
I do not like being ill, I know I don't have much of a life but that doesn't mean I wish to spend my days in front of a computer feeling lousy! Yesterday the cold had settled in my eyes and they wouldn't stop being teary. Hard to look at a computer screen like that.
Anyway, I am sick again. I am hopeful that this will at some point in time unclog my sinus system so maybe, just maybe, I can get back to some sense of normalcy. I would really love to have my ears pop and get my hearing back.

I'm Deaf

Since I first got sick, right after Thanksgiving, I have had either an earache or my ears have been plugged. The past couple of days the plugging has gotten worse, to the point where I can barely hear anything even when the person talking is right beside me. I can hear their voice modulating so I know they are talking but I don't have a clue what they say :(
I hope that this will go away soon, it is very frustrating! I know that it is because my sinueses are plugged up. For a few minutes at five thirty this morning I was awake and my nose was fairly clear and I was breathing great and I noticed that my ears were fine. Too bad no one was talking at the time lol
I saw somewhere that allergy medicine might help unplug my sinuses so I might have to give that a try. I do not wish to be deaf!

Crappy Weather

It is rainy and cloudy today and I am as sleepy as can be without being asleep. I hope it is just the crappy weather and not me having some sort of relapse with this pneumonia.
I am very tired of being sick and even more tired of the crud that has come with being sick. Mostly I miss my hearing. My ears have been plugged for so long that when they do finally unplug and I can hear normally again it will probably hurt!
Even though I still have work that needs to be done I think I am going to take a break from the computer and the weather and go hide underneath some covers.

What A Night

Not the Four Seasons hit song, just a thought of what a night. In fact, what a terrible night! The only blessing is that it finally ended.
It started off with coughing fits. Something appeared to be stuck in my throat and it wouldn't shake itself loose. I tried eating a piece of bread, drinking plain ordinary water instead of coffee, I even tried gargling with warm salt water. Nothing worked.
I took some Tylenol PM and headed for bed and sleep. The coughing had subsided and I thought the worst was over. Wrong!
I managed to sleep for a few minutes when I was awakened by the cough again. This time there was no stopping it. It just went on and on and on. And it managed to disrupt the rest of my body's systems.
I won't go into terribly sickening details here, just suffice it to say that at one point I was using both the toilet and the waste can in the bathroom, at the same time. Even that didn't slow things down.
All that happened was now I was coughing like crazy and shivering as well. Even under two very heavy blankets and laying beside a nice warm puppy I was shivering. I was constantly in and back out of the bed. I feel sorry for my lovely wife, I have no clue how she managed to get any sleep with me doing this.
Finally the coughing slowed down and I managed to drift off to sleep. Suddenly I was awakened by a noise. It was my wife's alarm clock which I rarely ever hear. The night of torture was seemingly never going to end for me.
It was 9 a.m. and a few minutes later I finally managed to go to sleep. All of my dreams had to do with body parts so I can only imagine that I was hurting from all that coughing.
My wife let me sleep until around 3 in the afternoon, bless her soul. I was awake when she came into the room but was afraid to move enough to get up. Head to toe seemed to hurt. Even my hernia hurt!
It has been almost three hours since I got up and I am still feeling aches and pains everywhere. I am not coughing as much as I was last night so I am thankful for that. I do cough from time to time but that seems to be my normal cough.
If I never go through another night like last night it will be more than fine by me.

It Goes Around

While I am starting to feel better (again) from this awful flu bug, the others in my house are getting worse :(
Last night was especially bad, with the two girls coughing and sneezing and hacking, sounding like cats trying to cough up a hairball, poor girls. While they didn't get much sleep, neither did I. I got up after dozing for about an hour or so and ended up staying up the rest of the night, going to bed after sun up and sleeping late into the morning. I think I was back up by noon but I wouldn't swear to it LOL
Tonight they both sound a little better and I am hopeful that sleep will be coming to all of us.
In the meantime here I sit at the computer listening to the Moody Blues from their Nights In White Satin days and enjoying myself. Hope all of you are healthy and enjoying your weekend as well :)

Feeling Better

A little bit, day by day. This bug that has been going around this year is terrible. Seems like you get rid of it and WHAM! it comes back and hits you again. If all the phlegm doesn't drive you crazy, then the bug in the ear will.
My ears have been plugged up for days now, making it really hard to hear things and people, even people that are standing right next to me at times :(
But, that isn't the worst part. When the ear pops everything suddenly seems 200 percent louder than normal and that hurts. And, to make matters worse, my equilibrium is way off.
Now, I don't walk straight even when perfectly healthy, but being out of whack doesn't make it better. Especially when I go bowling, which I did last night.
Last week I went and only managed to bowl one game before I had to go home I felt so terrible. So last night, I got ribbed a little about leaving last week, with someone asking me if I planned on staying the night LOL The funniest thing was one of my teammates. He said he just turned around last week and I had disappeared. When he asked the team captain, Don told him that I had quit, saying I didn't want to bowl with them anymore! Now, I have been on this same team for about five or six years now, so that wouldn't happen, especially in the middle of a three game set almost at the end of the season.
My body hurts today, which to me actually seems like a good sign. It is normal, and having been sick with this bug for so damned long, I can use a little normalcy :)
Hope all of you are feeling fine and are not sick with this, or any other, bug :)

Guess Who

Woke up today with an earache,a sore throat and a headache? Darn it, I thought this mess was gone from my system but I see now that it was just taking a breather before attacking me again :(
Maybe I am mistaken, but it certainly appears to me that the more advanced our society gets, the more advanced the germs get too. When I was a kid, you got a cold or the flu and you spent a couple of days resting getting lots of fluids and maybe some Vick's Vaporub for your chest and all was well. And the best part? The bug didn't come back at you every few days like this one is doing.
*SIGH*
Lord knows, I miss those days...
