ORLANDO, Fla. (UPI) -- A Florida man said he was shocked to discover he was "a billionaire for a minute" when his bank froze his account and flagged a $999.99 million deposit.
Otelo Vizcaino, 42, of Orlando, said he discovered after his card was rejected at a gas pump last week his account had been frozen by SunTrust Bank and a $999.99 million deposit had been flagged, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Tuesday.
"That's right -- one penny short of $1 billion," Vizcaino said. I was a billionaire for a minute, and I have nothing to show for it but grief.
SunTrust Bank said Monday the account was frozen as the result of internal computer procedures and there were no security breaches. The bank said the $999.99 million deposit is an internal signal to bank workers that the account is currently frozen.
"We work to verify funds as efficiently and effectively as possible to limit any impact to a client's account," SunTrust spokesman Hugh Suhr said. Based on the feedback in this instance, it sounds like we could have done a better job communicating that process.
Vizcaino said the bank told him his account should be back to normal by Wednesday.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - It didn't take much work for two county sheriff's deputies in Minnesota to track down four burglary suspects.
In fact, the suspects pulled right into the Happy Chef restaurant where the Blue Earth County deputies were on a coffee break
Wednesday night.
The deputies had been investigating three residential burglaries that seemed to be related. When they were on their break at Happy Chef, a report of another burglary came in from another county, along with a description of the suspects' pickup truck.
A truck matching that description pulled right into the parking lot. The stolen goods, including laptop computers, other electronics and jewelry, were in the back.
Captain Rich Murry says it shows even a coffee break can be productive.

Never mind spam, beware of these emails LOL
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) - You've got mail - and possibly an STD. The Brazilian Health Ministry has created a Web site to let people inform partners they've got a sexually transmitted disease via an e-mailed virtual postcard.
The official in charge of the ministry's STD and AIDs programs notes that many people have a hard time telling partners they're infected.
Mariangela Simao said in a statement this week that the e-mails may help people "to tackle these diseases directly and with minimum exposure."
One of the cards shows a young man reclining in his underwear. It reads: "Hi! I don't know if this is the best way to tell you, but I've learned that I have an STD."
The card suggests the recipient see a doctor.

Expensive Kiss!
And a very lousy hypnotist as well! LOL
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - A South Korean hypnotist has been fined for stealing a kiss on a blind date with a woman he thought he had successfully put in a trance, news reports said Thursday.
The 32-year-old man suggested hypnotizing his 27-year-old date during their first meeting arranged by a matchmaking agency
in August last year, according to the Dong-a Ilbo newspaper and Yonhap news agency.
The woman was eventually persuaded, and the hypnotist chanted: "Black hole! You will plunge deeper into a trance. You will feel thrilled all over your body and if my hand touches your body, you will feel intense pleasure."
When the man, identified only by his surname, Park, thought his technique had worked, he went to kiss her.
But the woman was fully alert, though her eyes were closed, and she pushed him away. Later, she filed accusations that he had sexually harassed her, the reports said.
The Seoul Central District Court fined Park 3 million won ($2,453), they said.

Take the money and run!
GREENACRES, Fla. (AP) - Authorities caught a Lake Worth man running down the street with a stolen cash register. Greenacres police reported that a 32-year-old man entered a restaurant Thursday afternoon and asked for change for a $10 bill. When the cashier asked to see the bill, the man reportedly began screaming, "I want change!"
Police said the man then grabbed about $40 from a tip box, picked up the cash register containing nearly $300 and ran out.
The officers who arrested the suspect after a short chase had just come from reviewing surveillance footage at a nearby connivence store, where lottery tickets had been stolen a day earlier. By chance, the officers identified the man as the thief from the footage.
The man was being held on $21,000 bail for multiple charges.

Never Burgle When Hungry
LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - A prosecutor says greasy fingerprints led police in Virginia to a suspect with sticky fingers. Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Bethany Harrison said Lynchburg police matched prints on an orange juice bottle left at the scene of a breaking and entering to 33-year-old Bernard Wood.
He was sentenced Friday to six years in prison after being found guilty of three counts of burglary and two counts of grand larceny.
Harrison said Wood stole appliances, jewelry and tools from several homes in June and raided his victims' refrigerators.
At one crime scene, police found the juice bottle and remnants of a chicken.
Harrison says police also recovered some of the 78 bags of popcorn also reported stolen when they went to Wood's home to arrest him.

Feces confirmed in gelato
SYDNEY (UPI) -- An Australian hotel restaurant where a guest discovered feces in her gelato says its tests indicate the waste did not come from their gelato supply.
The New South Wales Food Authority announced Tuesday that the substance Jessica Whyte spit into her napkin while eating the dark chocolate gelato at the Coogee Bay Hotel in suburban Sydney tested positive for feces, the Sydney Daily Telegram reported Wednesday.
The authority said further tests will be conducted to determine whether the waste came from a human or an animal.
A spokeswoman for the hotel said the restaurant tested its tub of gelato and found no traces of feces, indicating it was added to the dessert during preparation or eating.
"The Coogee Bay Hotel has never disputed the substance the Whytes have held for three weeks could be fecal," the spokeswoman said. "The real question remains -- where did it come from?"
Whyte and her husband Stephen said they remain convinced the feces were planted in the dish by a Coogee Bay staff member.
The Whytes said they complained about the price of the food and the behavior of restaurant staff when they ate there early this month and were given the complimentary dessert.
General Manager Tony Williams said earlier he was "extremely suspicious" of the Whytes' claims.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (UPI) -- Police in Knoxville, Tenn., say a man has been arrested for burglary after he phoned authorities and told them he was stuck in a museum ventilation shaft.
Knoxville police said Anthony Smith, 25, called 911 shortly before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and told the dispatcher he was wedged in the ventilation system at the Knoxville Museum of Art, WBIR-TV in Knoxville reported.
Police and firefighters arrived at the museum to find Smith wedged 40 feet down a ventilator shaft but investigators said they are unsure of how he could have gotten onto the building's roof.
Authorities said nothing was disturbed inside the museum. However, Smith was arrested on the burglary charge after being extracted from the tight space.

He Did What???
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested a man who broke into the home of two California farmworkers, stole money, rubbed one with spices and whacked the other with a sausage before fleeing.
Fresno County sheriff's Lt. Ian Burrimond says 22-year-old Antonio Vasquez was found hiding in a field wearing only a T-shirt, boxers and socks after the Saturday morning attack.
He says deputies arrested Vasquez after finding a wallet containing his ID in the ransacked house.
The farmworkers told deputies the suspect woke them Saturday morning by rubbing spices on one of them and smacking the other with an 8-inch sausage.
Burrimond says money allegedly stolen was recovered.

Fish flies out of lake, breaks Arkansas teen's jaw
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - It's a fishing tale that packs a wallop so strong it broke the jaw of a southeastern Arkansas teen and covered him in fish blood and guts.
Seth Russell, 15, of Crossett, was cruising Lake Chicot on a large inner tube towed by a boat when a Silver Asian carp leaped from the water and smacked him in the face. Seth was knocked unconscious.
"He doesn't remember anything at all," the boy's mother, Linda Russell, said last week. "He was laughing, and the next thing he remembers, he is waking in a hospital."
The teen has had oral surgery to wire several teeth together and still experiences back pain that doctors attribute to whiplash from the high-speed collision, his mother said.
He's not the only one who's has a run-in with the "flying" Silver Asian carp.
"They do not fly, but they are quite good jumpers," said Carole Engle, director of aquaculture and the fisheries center at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. "Over the past year, we have had some calls about fish jumping and causing injuries on Lake Chicot.
"Their jumping behavior is a problem, and their population appears to be growing there," Engle said.
Silver Asian carp were first imported to the United States in the 1970s. Catfish farmers brought them here to remove algae and other suspended matter from their ponds. The Environmental Protection Agency started a program allowing cities to use the fish to help clean the water in sewer treatment plant ponds.

Baggy pants trip up fleeing suspect
ATLANTA (UPI) -- An Atlanta man trying to escape from police tripped and fell as he tried to hold his baggy pants up, officers said.
Emmanuel Uzowihe, 21, allegedly pointed a gun at the police officers as he lay on the ground, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. He was shot and wounded.
The incident near the Fulton County Courthouse began when police tried to pull Uzowihe over because of a traffic violation. He allegedly stopped his white Toyota sedan but jumped out and ran away.
Anthony Gentile, a police investigator, said an officer followed Uzowihe, ordering him several times to stop.
Darrell Jackson said he saw Uzowihe run past, cursing. Other witnesses and police said Uzowihe already allegedly had his gun out while he was running.
"He was running pretty fast," Jackson said. "The only thing that messed him up is he was trying to pull his pants up."

Dead man's visit to doctor scuttles insurance scam
LONDON (AP) - As a dead man, Ahmad Akhtary shouldn't have needed a doctor's appointment.
Akhtary's checkup, six months after he allegedly died in Afghanistan, scuttled his ex-wife's attempt to collect 300,000 pounds (US$550,000) on a life insurance policy.
At a court hearing last week in Gloucester, a judge sentenced 34-year-old Akhtary to 60 hours of community service and his former wife, Anne Akhtary, to 40 hours of community service but suspended prison sentences of nine months each.
Anne Akhtary, 43, admitted trying to claim the payout from the Norwich Union insurance company by using a forged death certificate from Afghanistan claiming that her husband had died of brain trauma in an accident.
Within weeks, however, Norwich Union investigators were tipped off about the doctor's appointment.
"They were told that Mr. Akhtary's GP had seen him at his practice and he had attended hospital so it was not the most sophisticated way of going about making a false claim," said prosecutor James Cranfield.
Akhtary had continued to live openly in Gloucester after his supposed death, working and paying taxes, Cranfield said.
Passing sentence on Friday, Judge Mark Horton said fake insurance claims were serious but that the couple had been less than sophisticated in their attempt and that no money had been lost.

Police cite computer rage in teen's arrest
PALM BAY, Fla. (UPI) -- Police in Florida say a 15-year-old boy flew into a rage, attacking his mother and older brother over changes made to the family computer.
Palm Bay police investigators said the teenager became angry after learning of the computer privilege changes and chased his mother with a knife, pushing her repeatedly before striking his older brother with a sugar cane, WKMG-TV in Orlando reported Tuesday.
The teenager, who allegedly told police he had felt threatened by his mother and brother, was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Sharpes Sunday. He was charged with aggravated assault and battery.

Cops bust movie set, not robbery
SALEM, Mass. (UPI) -- Police officers in North Andover, Mass., inadvertently interrupted a movie set thinking it was the site of a robbery attempt, a director says.
Director John Depew said he was filming a scene at a North Andover convenience store last weekend when police suddenly stormed in to apprehend their suspects, Boston's WCVB-TV reported.
"They came in and they said, 'Drop the gun' and I couldn't see the officer because he was behind (me)," Depew said. "I said, 'It's a movie, it's a movie -- we're filming a movie!'"
Depew said two actors playing robbers were placed in handcuffs by the officers, but were released after the situation was explained.
WCVB-TV said the confusion was brought about by a mistaken 911 call from someone who said an actual robbery was taking place at the store.

Thieves roll away grand piano
SPOKANE, Wash. (UPI) -- Law enforcement authorities in Spokane, Wash., don't think it was magic -- they think the disappearance of a grand piano was a brazen theft.
An employee at the Ridpath Hotel says the concert piano was in its usual place when she left for her dinner break around 11 p.m. Saturday, but she noticed the more than century-old Steinway Grand Piano was gone before 2 a.m. Sunday.
The thieves apparently knew what they were doing. The black Steinway weighs nearly 1,000 pounds and was worth at least $25,000, KXLY-TV, Spokane, reported.
The hotel is offering a reward for the instrument's return.

Suspect got away clean, almost
WICHITA, Kan. (UPI) -- A man who broke into a house Wichita, Kansas, fled in his underwear after the homeowner showed up unexpectedly and caught him doing his laundry, police said.
Investigators said the suspect, described as a white male in his 30s, is believed to have entered the home by breaking a basement window, The Telegraph reported Monday.

Cops: Woman marks birthday by aiding son in heists
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Police in Wisconsin say a woman celebrated her birthday by helping her teenage son rob two gas stations. Officers in the Milwaukee suburb of Greenfield say the 37-year-old woman acted as the getaway driver while her 17-year-old son robbed the stations at gunpoint.
Authorities say the pair were in custody Wednesday awaiting charges. Their names were not released.
Police say the teen was visiting from Chicago for his mother's birthday.
And they say the woman's 13-month-old daughter and two boys ages 10 and 14 rode along during the robberies in Greenfield and Milwaukee. Greenfield police Deputy Inspector Bradley Wentlandt says the younger children have been turned over to child welfare.

Wife sells hubby's mistress' underpants
QUEENSLAND, Australia (UPI) -- A Queensland, Australia, woman said she is auctioning off underwear that was left at her home by her husband's alleged mistress.
The woman, who identified herself as Anna, said in the item's listing on eBay Australia the auction winner will get the "size humongous" pair of lacy black panties and a "size small" empty condom wrapper that her husband used for his alleged infidelity, the Melbourne Herald Sun reported.
"They are so huge I thought they may make someone a nice shawl or, even better, something for Halloween perhaps," Anna said of the underpants.
The seller said the auction will not be her last eBay-based attack against her allegedly cheating mate -- she said his Harley Davidson motorcycle will soon be up for auction with a starting price of less than a dollar.
