So now i have this new computer. the girls have the laptop back but that's not going to satisfy one of them. Now my wife wants a computer of her own, as she refuses to touch this one or allow the daughter to touch it either. They want to ensure that if this one breaks the fault will be mine and mine alone. How silly lol
So, I know that I can get her a computer just like this one for around $120, same as this one cost. But, I need a monitor as well. So I spent some serious time last night looking at monitors on Ebay. Oh, my, they can be costly. Yikes! I did find one that is around thirty dollars. it's used but should do the job.
So, I sat here late trying to figure it all out and I think I can manage it. I have enough in PayPal to cover the computer. I will need to get a gift card/pre-paid credit card for the monitor. That will pretty much wipe out my PayPal account and my wallet at the same time but I think it is doable. And, I'm certain it will make my wife happy and that's all that counts :)

Management Jobs
So, you are one of the lucky ones, you have a job to go to every day and get that paycheck to bring home where you sit and try to find a way to pay all your bills and still have some money left over. You wish you had more money left over so that you could actually have some sort of life, but you don't see that happening.
You do your job every day and perhaps take a moment or two to fantasize about how much better Life could be if you just could move up into management but you know your boss doesn't seem to be leaving any time soon. For you, the glass is half empty.
Well, lose that pessimistic attitude and realize that the glass is actually half full. There are management jobs out there, you just have to look for them! Many companies these days prefer to hire managers from outside their comapny rather than promote from within. You may not move up to management in your company but what about another company instead? Take a chance at a better life, you owe it to yourself.
Job.com is the place to start. You can sign up for free, post your resume, search the jobs list, even get some tips on improving your chances. And you can do it all from the comfort and convenience of home so your boss doesn't even know you are looking for a better job.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. So, why just daydream? Go to job.com and take that first step. Remember, the first step of any journey is the hardest, but job.com makes that first step easy.
Good luck with your journey to a new and better Life.

Too Hot
My new computer is working great and I am happy with it. So much faster again than using that old laptop :)
The problem is that it is hot. It's around 110 degrees here and everything in the house is hot too. But the computer seems to be running hot as well and that can't be too good for it. I have a small fan running and aimed directly at the computer to help cool it off. I also set the computer on its side and am hoping that will help some too.
They need to make a computer that is rough and tough enough for the heat of the desert with extra fans inside of it and perhaps an exhaust fan or two to draw the heat away from the circuit boards and outside the computer.
But, in spite of the heat I am a happy camper computer-wise again :)

Higher Is Better
Almost everyone these days has cable. But not everyone. Some folks still use antennas for television and stereo radio reception. I, myself do not use cable for FM radio reception as I can get it free with an antenna. Why pay?
Televisions are little different though. You can still receive television programs with an antenna despite what the cable and satellite companies will say. Of course, they want to sell you their service. Whether you have an older model television or a new lcd tv reception is the same problem. If you use a television antenna you will want it to be as high up in the air as possible to improve your reception.
There still are a lot of tv antennas out there so how do you find the right one? You need someplace that has done a lot of antenna reviews so that you make the correct choice. You could spend hours doing it yourself, of course, but why waste all that time when someone else has done the work for you already?
Remember, if you are looking for an antenna for other types of radios, these reviews will also be of help to you. They also talk about masts so that you can stick your antenna higher in the air. When it comes to antennas, higher is better.

Apple IPhone4
If you are one of the millions that have kept up with the latest gadgets then you most likely have one of these Apple iPhones. At the rate Apple is going I fear that computers will soon become obsolete as their phones will do everything that a computer can do and do it on the go. Not sure what Apple will do with all their Macs but I am sure they'll figure out something.
Right now though, iPhones, like computers, need accessories. From chargers to carrying cases to headsets, well, you get the idea. So, off you go in search of iphone 4 accessories and, of course, saving money while you shop.
Accessorygeeks offers a wide variety of Apple iPhone 4 accessories from batteries to screen protectors so that you are certain to find the items that you are searching for. And they offer low prices along with free shipping (yes, free!) so you know you are going to save money there as well.
Your iiPhone was a costly investment so you owe it to yourself to protect it. accessorygeeks has that idea well covered. I rather like this one myself:

Not only does it look like great protection, it is very stylish as well. Isn't that what you want? Stylish and protective? Of course it is.
So, go visit the site and see what goodies they have for you and your iPhone4. Save a bundle and you'll be happier than the day you bought the iPhone.
A Better Day
I got a lot of sympathy from family and friends yesterday which helped ease the pain of my dog's passing. That was very nice :)
We buried him out underneath the tree where he had spent a lot of time in the past year and a half. Seemed like a great resting place.
During the night last night I did hear some strange moaning sounds from outside and immediately looked out the window before realizing that it could no longer be my Valentine. That made me sad.
Today has been much better, less emotional anyways. Maybe because my mind was diverted to other things like why the UPS company cannot find my house. The computer that should have been here yesterday still was not here this afternoon and the tracking page showed that it was back at the warehouse because my house is not a valid address. GRRR
I called the company and explained how to find it. Then the local company guy called me and I explained it all to him. Hopefully the new computer will be here tomorrow. If not I guess I'm going to have to bum a ride from someone and go over there and pick it up myself.

Get Educated
Getting a better job these days requires more than just perseverance. It also requires a better education. Long gone are the days when you could graduate from high school, get an Associates Degree from a local community college and find the career that would last you your entire working life. These days companies want the best and the brightest. But, just how do you get yourself into universities that seem to produce these best and brightest people?
If your Life choice is within the legal profession, the starting point for you is to take, and conquer, the LSAT. The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is an examination in the United States, Canada, and Australia administered by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for prospective law school candidates. It is designed to assess logical and verbal reasoning skills.[1] Administered four times a year, it is a required exam for all ABA-approved law schools.
This is not a test you can just jump into after glancing at a few select questions. This is a test that requires a lot of serious study. The best way to prepare yourself for the LSAT is with lsat prep courses. Courses that are designed by experts in the field who can show you any areas of weakness that you may have and assist you to correct those weaknesses.
But, what if Law studies are not for you? Perhaps you'd like to go to college and learn something else. Still you will need to study for the college entrance exams in order to get yourself into the best school. Newton has that covered as well. They have courses designed to assist you with both the GMAT and the SAT exams.
So, don't just sit around and dream about a better job. Get ready to get yourself educated and find the career that you want.

I'm Sorry
I apologize for the multiple posts today. I have been too concerned with my dying dog the past few days to actually care enough to be creative and write. Now is the time to make up for it as the posts are due and I don't wish to lose the money from them.
I am very thankful that I have these posts to write. Having just been forced to buy a new desktop, the money will come in very handy. No, I won't make up all the money I spent on the desktop but it isn't money I wish to pass up either. I may be grieving over my lost puppy but I am not stupid either.
I have three more paid posts to create in the next two days. I hope that you all will bear with me and check them out along with the posts that are personal that are in between these paid posts.
You never know, I might write about something you want or need!

Barcode Scanner
I have a friend that likes to dream about having his own barcode scanner and wandering through the stores he shops at changing all the prices on the things he is buying and all of the money he could save. It's silly, I know, but he likes it so I do not point out all the fallacies like he'd have to also have that store's software program or that someone would see what he is doing and call the cops.
Barcode scanners have become rather commonplace these days, seems like every store you go into has one, from giants like Walmart to the corner Mom and Pop shop that you stop into just for a soda. They not only make shopping quicker for the customers, they also are a valuable tool for the business, making it easier to change prices (remember price stickers?) but also for inventory control.
If you have any sort of business, a barcode scanner can help you keep track of what you have on hand, as well as the price. No more looking things up in a book or a wad of paper!
Scanners come in a variety of shapes and sizes, all in order to assist a business owner or shopkeeper who needs specific things. Why buy something that is too large for your business needs? That's a bad business practice.
It's your money, I know, but why waste it? The idea is to save money.
So, check out all the scanners that are available. Find the one that is right for you and your business needs and you are on your way to better business.
Oh, and keep an eye on your customers, just in case my friend shows up with a barcode scanner of his own.

Rainbow Bridge
As I knew my old friend Valentine was passing away I went searching on the internet and I came across the following. While it makes me cry to read it it also gives me great peace as well.
Can you imagine a heaven without pets?
There is a very special place where beloved pets go after they die. This is only a temporary location. But there are trees and grass and lakes, and everything they love. Here they can play and eat and sleep, even better than they did, before they died. Now, there are no aches or worries or dangers of any kind to trouble or threaten them. The only joy missing is their beloved human companion, you.
All health is restored completely, and all injuries are healed. Dogs and cats play with each other like youngsters, and they do not have time to feel lonely for you. They miss you, and with the special wisdom that animals have, they trust that this condition will get better. And they confidently wait as they frolic.
A wonderful day will come for each of them, when in the middle of playing they will suddenly feel something is different. And all their senses will be at the height of excitement and exuberance. They will sniff the air and look off in the distance where they recognize that dearly loved special presence. Then they will call out in elation, and with eyes shining and tail going wild, tear off at a full gallop, almost flying over the green grass.
Your expected arrival has been sensed, and now there is nothing that can keep the two of you apart, ever again. As you run toward each other the tears flow from your eyes. Your pet leaps into your arms, and you cling together in jubilant reunion. The joyous kisses are all over your face, and you kiss back, just as ecstatically. Your hands so lovingly caress once more the beloved fur, the head and neck and body you knew so well. And you look into each other’s loving eyes, and all those old, wonderful shared feelings are back, again.
And then something will call the both of you on, to a different field of warmth and nurture, where all the love you knew now comes to fruition. With your pet, you leave that special waiting area, walk into the main part of heaven, and begin a new existence there, together.
If you accept that pets can love us as much as we do them, then the logic is clear and cannot be denied. If you believe that there is a heaven for people, then they must be there, waiting for us, when we cross over. Heaven is love, and pets always share that with us.

Sad Day
The dog in this picture is Valentine. I got him when he was 8 weeks old and he lived for about fifteen years. He was crippled up the last few months and had gone blind as well.
Somewhere in the night Val finally passed away from all his ailments. He was peaceful at the end, thank God.
He will be missed :(

Hooray!
Just finished buying a new desktop :) Okay, so it is not brand spanking new, it is refurbished. But, hey, it was $120 and shipping was free!
Here is what it has:
Intel Pentium 4 - 3.2 GHZ Processor
1 GB (1024 MB) RAM Memory
40 GB Hard Drive
10/100 High Speed Internet/Network Port
High Speed DVD-ROM
and the usual ports and whatnot that come with a computer.
Basically this is the same system of the HP computer that died on me so I am happy with that. I am very happy with the price!
It should be here I figure in about a week. It's shipped from Kentucky by UPS Ground so I'm fairly certain my time frame is correct.
In the meantime, I still have to use this laptop which is kind of slow but still better than nothing. Last night, after fiddling around awhile, I did manage to get the LAN to work on the laptop so the DSL speed is twice what wireless is so that will help too.
I am very happy and excited!!

Oh Oh!
I am using the laptop that I bought for my wife these days. It is incredibly slow and has some difficulty loading pages as well as programs. But, it is better than nothing at all, I guarantee that :)
The desktop computer has bitten the dust. I tried to fix an older desktop but I managed to fry that one :( Fired it up and smelled something burning. That's not good at all.
So, here I am, typing away on this small laptop. The keyboard and my fingers do not seem all that compatible, especially if typing in a hurry which I usually am.
I did find a very nice desktop on Ebay that I want to buy. It's basically the same as the desktop that has died. One gig of RAM and a 40 Gig hard drive. And it is fairly reasonable, only $120 with free shipping.
All I have to do is figure out how to get my PayPal account to let me spend my money. I have no bank account and no credit cards. I bought a gift card and am hoping to get that to work long enough for me to buy the new computer. Time will tell.
In the meantime, I am using this with roughly half a meg of memory. Slowly but surely I get online and do what I need to do.

Still No Desktop
My desktop crashed a few days ago and I have been using our laptop to do the things I need to do online like work my chat moderating shift on a gaming site. I miss the desktop :(
I bought this laptop primarily for my wife because I seem to always be on the computer, day and night, and she wasn't getting enough time to do the things she wanted to do. It's an older laptop with only a half a meg of memory but it works okay for her stuff as well as our daughters stuff. I wish it were faster, but, hey, any port in a storm, ya know?
My wife has hardly used this laptop while the daughter has used it to death. The monitor rarely ever works on it anymore, I think it got youtubed out LOL. At the moment it is hooked into the desktops monitor so I can see what I am doing.
I'm somewhat scared to pull the monitor plug because I'm not that sure it will work on the laptop again when I need to do my shift. Unfortunately I cannot fix the desktop without the monitor. GRRR.
I truly want to fix that desktop though as it has more memory and is a whole lot faster than the laptop. It also has the keyboard that I seem to be better able to type on. This keyboard is not Franklin friendly lol
At least I can get online and do the necessary things, like update my blog, so I am happy enough for the moment.

Baldwin Hardware
I have two females that live in this house, a wife and a nineteen year old daughter. Both of them have this habit of hanging their purses, bags or backpack type bags on the door handles. This house was brand new when we moved into it and a year and a half later not a single one of the doors seems to work properly. I blame this on their bags.
Like most females, my wife and daughter carry a lot of unnecessary things in their bags, like books, which are heavy. In out old house with old fashioned round doorknobs their hanging the bags routine seemed okay on the doors. Perhaps this was because it was a really old house and when that house was built everything in it was sturdier than things are today.
Even though I rent this house I have the feeling that it won't be long before I am forced to replace some of the door knobs and fixtures. It's not the owners fault that my women have their habit, it's mine. Fortunately for me I have found this site that sells Baldwin hardware. They have a lot of different types of door fixtures and knobs over there and I am certain that I will find exactly what I need, something that can withstand the weight of female purses.
This house has, like most newer houses these days, levers as doorknobs. The front and back are normal doorknobs (round) but everything inside the house is levers. Thankfully I can get both types at the website for Baldwin hardware. I know I am going to need them.
They accept a variety of payments too, which is nice. they even accept payment through my favorite place to pay, PayPal. I'm going to bookmark this website and start planning now so that I am well prepared when one of my womenfolk come to tell me that they have just tried to hang their purse on a door and the knob has fallen off. It's simply a matter of time.

What's The Point?
Every night my daughter tells either myself or her mother "good night, I'm going to bed because I am very tired." Within minutes, the light is on or the television set or she is in the kitchen looking for something to eat or drink. Several hours later she is still awake, determined not to go to sleep, even though it was her idea in the first place.
What is the point of saying good night if you have no intentions of going to bed or sleep? I'd be willing to bet that if she was told to stay awake she'd be asleep in minutes.
When she did this silliness as a child, it was defiance and rebelliousness, pure and simple. Now she is nineteen and has no need to rebel.
So, what is the point? Is this her generation saying I just don't care about anything? Is this just her being a pain in the butt? Matters not as its her life, she can waste it all she likes at this point in time.
She is planning on getting into better shape so that she can join the Army. I wish her the best of luck there, since the Army is not all that nocturnal an organization. They are not going to care that she forced herself to stay awake until 3 a.m. or later. They are just going to force her out of bed and yell orders at her all day long.
Maybe, after the Army gets through with her she'll sleep at night. Until then, what's the point of saying that you're tired and going to bed and sleep? LOL
What is the point of saying good night if you have no intentions of going to bed or sleep? I'd be willing to bet that if she was told to stay awake she'd be asleep in minutes.
