One of the things that has been tossed around at these monthly meetings is how cool it would be if, instead of voice chat on Skype, we used video conferencing. This would allow us to not only chat like we do now but would also allow us to see exactly who is talking. Now, that would be nice to see.
It also would allow us to see just what these other moderators look like since some of them do not use their personal photos as avatars so you really don't know what they actually look like. I do use a personal photo so I know they all know how I look and I can only hope that they were not scared when they first saw it.
Video conferencing for us would be fun. For a business group it would be more serious but certainly something worthwhile. Talking on a phone is okay, but with video conferencing you could not only hear what the other person is trying to convey but you could also see the look on their face. So, if you thought they sounded excited you could see that clearly on their face and, hopefully, that excitement would rub off onto you and all the others in the video conference.
Video conferences can, I believe, be a true bonus for businesses, especially if your business is scattered around the globe. The only hard part would be setting a time when everyone is available. We have that problem as two of our moderators reside in Australia and their hours and days are very different than those of us that live in the United States. We manage to find a time that is fairly suitable for all and I'm certain that your business could do likewise.
Need to communicate with people? Then check out the services available on the website and see what video conferencing has to offer you and your business.
