Boots

Looking out my window I see lots of sunshine and a few clouds, pretty much looking like a typical Autumn day. But I know that these days will not last much longer, the evenings are already chilly and that can only mean one thing, Winter is coming soon. And, when Winter comes, bad weather will surely come along with it.
I am lucky here in the desert because we rarely get snow but in the Winter months we do get most of our annual rainfall so it will be cold and wet. Many people might be shocked to learn that it gets cold here in the desert but it does. It gets below freezing here at night and, often, in the morning hours it is not surprising to find ice on the sidewalks making for a slippery walk at best. If I have trouble in the desert of Southern California I can only imagine the hardships of Winter for the other parts of the country, especially the East where months of heavy snow seem to be the norm for Winter. I lived in Minnesota for a while as a kid and that snow was tremendous. Fun for kids, I doubt it is much fun for adults that have to go to work or do grocery shopping type things. They need a great pair of boots too.
Boots are wonderful for Winter because they are generally waterproof, warm, and most have soles that make it easier to walk in tough conditions, like snow. Whether we like it or not Winter, and bad weather conditions, are coming.
